Good afternoon, ya'll Guess who is back !!!!! Hip Hip Hooray!!!! It is Annie and the gals- her trusty hens, Edna, Dorothy and Alma. Where has this crew been? It has certainly been awhile since we have seen them in a stitch. If you do not know them, Annie is a hard working gal that has appeared in several of my stitches with her hens. She has tended to bees, a pumpkin patch as well as a corn patch, gathered roses, sledded and even led a patriotic parade. Well, she still has more adventures to be had. And today she and the gals are enjoying some large Jack-o- lanterns as the black cats, Jimmie and Johnny, roam around. Little Alma is sitting on a pumpkin as Annie is tending to the cauldron. Hmmm What is she brewing? Perhaps fabric. π Normally Annie throws out a bit of corn for the gals to eat, but this time she has scattered candy corn and some purple corn kernels. They are all ready for some "Chick or Treats" . ππ I finished this piece just as I have all of the other stitches on a piece of foam board wrapped in batting. I added a ruffle and then mounted it to another fabric wrapped foam board. It is tacked onto an old wooden box that I purchased at the Goodwill. I just change out my Annie and the gang stitches by the season. If you are interested in stitching Annie, please check out the images below, but first read my little note about my charts as of what has happened here recently. NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues. Until I can figure out how to upload with the links , I am only able to put the images on the blog . Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print. I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save . I am doing my best to get back to my normal method of sharing . Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas. Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer. I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I know they will eventually appear in a Thanksgiving and Christmas stitch. I just need to get my juices flowing on those stitches. I so appreciate that you stopped by for a visit. Is it Sunday already? By golly , it is!!! Welcome y'all. It is such a beautiful day so let's go out to the porch and enjoy some porch stitching. Be careful though Mama bird just may swoop down upon us as she is nesting on the porch column and is very protective. Alabama Beauty will be the quilt I am working on. I bought this quilt last year at the Worlds' Longest Yard Sale. It was partly quilted so I just picked up where the original quilter left off using pink thread and quilting 1/4" around the quilt pieces. I have high hopes of finishing another row this week. Pretty colorful dish cloths are in the works. I have been in the mood to crochet . The only thing I know how to crochet is simple dishcloths. Isn't the bowl of cloths pretty? I haven't seen one of these in a blue moon . How about you? A stack of fabrics waiting to be used. I do have a plan for these fabrics. I stitched a 2nd Strawberry Patch which was a freebie I shared earlier this month. I will make this one into a pillow. The blueberries are getting ripe. I wish you could see these in person. They are the size of a quarter. We have never had them this big. Yum! Yum! On the finishing table is a new house stitch. The gardens are in bloom. How about a pretty patriotic quilt stack? Another Strawberry stitch is in the works. I am always in the mood for a slice of Strawberry Pie. Good morning, Sweetie Pies and Happy , Happy Tuesday. Well I have another freebie for you and guess what ? It is another bee freebie!!!!ππ― Lol. I know some of you may be wondering- "Has she gone plumb bee crazy" or you might be thinking "Wow, she takes to a theme - like a dog takes to a bone. " Lol. Well you are right to both. ππ. But don't worry I do not need bee therapy nor an intervention; it will all be out of my system soon. With that said, I am so excited to share a new crock with you .This is Bee Skep 1869 Crock or as I lovingly refer to it my Honey Crock. Can you imagine a crock filled with ooey goeey yummy honey? Oh, there is a "rumbly in my tumbly". I remember when I was young mom stored honey in mason jars with the comb in the kitchen pantry. And yes every now and then, I would open up the pantry door , grab the jar and dip my little finger in for a little taste of sweetness. Aaah sweet memories. I just used 7 floss colors to stitch this piece. They were DMC 3345 ( my favorite green), 930, 310 , blanc, 433, 838, and 783. I was originally going to stitch my crock in a cream or beigey color ,but I could not find the right color in my stash that would not blend into my fabric . So I had to use white. I also toyed with the idea of making the daisies- sunflowers. I think it would be cute either way. This is a quickie . So if you are interested , please check out the pdfs below. Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer. I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I have to put each page on separate pdf downloads because of the devices I use. I apologize for that. And I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and stitching my little designs. Click here for instruction page. Click here for colored chart. Click here for black and white chart. I finished my piece on a Dollar Tree unfinished wooden box found in the craft section. I dry brushed black paint on the box and rubbed some of it off for a prim look. Have you seen my other crocks? Well if you haven't, just click on the links and pop right over to the previous post. You might find one that strikes your fancy for a holiday or seasonal stitch. Fall 1869 Crock , Ewe Have My Heart 1869 Crock , 1776 Crock , and Spring Chick 1869 Crock . You may be wondering why I have the date 1869 on my crocks. Well pretty much all my stitches have some relation to a family member or childhood memory. The 1869 is honor of dear distant grandparent. Personalizing the stitches make them fun for me. I have seen many stitchers change the date to something special for them which warms my heart. Well I am off to do a little stitching. It's not a bee stitch though. Lol. I am also going to be working on some quilt block piecing, but I won't tell you what kind of quilt blocks I am working on. Lol. Buzz Buzz! Thank you so much for taking time of out of your day to spend it with me. You always brighten my day. As always ... Happy stitching, ya'll Melisa A day without a friend is like a pot without a single drop of honey inside-Winnie the Pooh Hugs and Stitches
Well a very good morning to you, my dears. Can you believe it ? The last day of November. November came in on the rather chilly side here in the holler, but yesterday it was a nice sunny 73 degrees. Earlier during the day, I saw 3 yellow butterflies. I have never seen butterflies here so late in the season. This reminded me that I needed to work on my butterfly blocks which I am creating in memory of my sister. By evening time, it became overcast ,and I sat on the porch watching the squirrels scamper back and forth from tree limb to tree limb and listening to the sweet melody of the birds chirping. Of course , when I pulled out my camera , the birdies and squirrels became camera shy and said "NO PHOTOS, TODAY" Oh well, I will be on a mission to capture them next time. The leafless trees swayed back and forth as soon a breeze wove its way in and out of the ridges. Our little well house. By mid afternoon, I heard the low rumbles of thunder; rain was on its way. I was not deterred by the rumbles ; I just sat and enjoyed a little quilting time with Frosty McChill . As I sat on the porch, I thought why not leave you with one more small fall freebie to wet your appetite for next year's autumn stitching. I know it might not be something that you are interested in stitching right now since it is Christmas Stitching Season , but maybe in the future. I am so excited to share with you my Pumpkin & Bittersweet Sampler . I received so many kind compliments on my recent Thanksgiving Hutch post where I showed you my Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler. Thank you so much , dear friends. I am tickled pink that so many of you liked it. If you are interested in stitching PUMPKIN & BITTERSWEET SAMPLER ,grab the images below. I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs. OK, let me tell you a little bit about it. I was inspired by my Blessings cross stitch that I shared in 2020. I always liked the bittersweet vines and the colors. I stitched the Pumpkin and Bittersweet Sampler on 14 count aida that I tea / coffee dyed. I had hoped it would fit in this 5x7 frame that I purchased at the Goodwill, but it is a wee too big, but that is ok I can make do. Using 14 count aida , it measures 4 3/8" x 7 1/4". I just used 6 DMC floss colors which are 3011, 3829 , 300 ,301, 898 and 844. For reference, this is where the floss colors are located. A very berry good morning to you , Cupcakes! I am feeling Fridaylicous! How about you? I could not say goodbye to April without sharing a saltbox stitch with you. If ya'll saw my Strawberry Hutch Tour earlier this week , ya'll know that strawberry season is upon us here in the South. Lots of reds and anything berry related. So I just had to stitch myself a Berry House. Eeeh I hope you like it!! You know me and reds. This one makes my heart go thumpity thump. I debated and debated on whether or not to frame this one or to make it into a pillow like the others. Well the simple pillow finish won out. With fresh strawberries ripening on the farm, you would think that I would prepare something yummy , but I haven't had the opportunity yet. But I did find a recipe in our monthly CO OP magazine that sounds rather interesting, and I thought I would share it with you. NO BAKE STRAWBERRY TORTE PREP TIME: 20 minutes CHILL TIME: 8 hours INGREDIENTS: 11 ounce ( 1 box ) of vanilla wafers 2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips, divided 1/2 cup of strong coffee 1/2 cup of cream , divided 2 cups of whipped cream 2 cups of strawberries thinly sliced 1/2 cup whole strawberries for garnish DIRECTIONS: 1. Line a 8 x 5 inch loaf pan with plastic wrap, leaving extra on the sides to fold over the top. 2. In a microwave safe bowl, combine 1 cup of chocolate chips, coffee, and 1/4 cup of the cream. Microwave on high until the chocolate is completely melted . Stir until smooth. 3. Cover the bottom of the pan with a single layer of vanilla wafers. Lightly drizzle some of the chocolate over the wafers. place sliced strawberries in a single layer over the chocolate. Repeat layers as many times as needed to fill the pan. Fold the plastic wrap over the top and refrigerate for at least 8 hours. 4. Turn torte out onto a cake plate and spread whipped cream over the entire torte. 5.Melt the remaining chocolate chips and mix with the remaining 1/4 cup of cream until smooth. Drizzle chocolate over the torte. 6. Garnish with whole strawberries . Serve immediately. Doesn't that sound yummy? Well, I am off to see what the day allows. I hope your Friday is like a Bowl of Strawberries- filled with sweetness!!!! As always... Happy quilting and stitching, ya'll Melisa Stand out like a strawberry in a bowl of peas ! Good morning, my sweet friends and Happy Memorial Day. What a beautiful day it is! Please remember all of the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces and made the ulitimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have in this great country. The National Moment of Rememberance takes place at 3:00 local time and that is when one is asked to pause for 1 minute to remember those who have fallen during their service. I was reflecting the other night about all of my family members that have participated in the armed forces dating back all the way back to the American Revolution. The last family member that our family lost in a war was a distant cousin who was killed in the Vietnam War. He was really just a child of 19 years of age when he entered the war and only lasted a few short months in Vietnam. How brave he was. All of my great uncles served in the Army or Navy during WWII. This is Uncle Buford who lost his life during this time. ( You may remember I have some rabbit stitches named after him. I love naming my pieces after family members. ) My great uncle who died while in service in 1943 . Distant Cousin A. N. was a crewman aboard the U.S.S. Indianapolisis when it was torpedoed on July 30, 1945. Three of my great great great grandfather lost their lives during the Civil War. I am sure that many of you have similar stories even if it is way down the family tree. I also want to thank all of those who have served or who are currently serving in the military. You are my heroes!!! What do you have planned for the day? A cookout or fun in the sun? Or just a nice quiet day relaxing at home? We will be enjoying our usual family cookout and then a pool party. The kiddos are quite excited that school is out so they will particularly enjoy the day. Later in the evening, I hope to work on a few more flag blocks. I will also finish up this new cross stitch that I am working on. I have a couple of more Patriotic Wordie Bowl Fillers to work on too. These are simple super quick stitches. I had these completed in two shakes of a lamb's tale. I bet you could too. If you are interested in stitching these quickies using scraps of fabric, please check out the jpgs below. I am so sorry that the images seem dark ( Fingers crossed my scanner is not going on the brink too. Yikes) Click here for Land of the Free jpg. Click here for Home of the Brave jpg. I think I will be using DMC 823, 815, blanc and 930 for my stitches. And a berry good morning to you! Yes! It's berry season. Nah! not strawberry- that has long since come and gone, but blueberry season. My oldest grandson is in blueberry heaven. He loves blueberries. In fact, he eyes the blueberry bushes like a hawk waiting for the first hint of a berry turning blue. He monitors them year round ; most of the time, Mr. Pinker and I are telling him it's not blueberry season yet. But when it is time, he is up on the hill picking till his little heart and belly is content. We just have a few bushes on the chert hill; they must love chert for they certainly are productive. Mom and Dad used to have over 200 bushes and would sell fresh berries by the gallons. A few years ago, dad cut down almost all of the bushes and converted the land back to pasture. My little blueberry picker would have loved that field of berries. I've been dreaming of canning blueberry preserves, but I do not know if that will be possible . Maybe. Of course my little Blueberry Picker has 1st reins. πππ€ Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey is a favorite children's book. Did you know that July is National Blueberry Month ? The perfect time for me to share my newest saltbox. It is called Aunt Betty's at Blueberry Buckle Lane. Happy happy Hump Day!!! It's Wednesday already? How come Spring and Summer days seem to fly by even though the days are longer. π€ Well I guess time flies when you are having fun. For the last 2 evenings , Mr Pinker and I have been enjoying ballgames in the evening. Today we will have a break and then back to the ballfield tomorrow evening. However ,we will be heading into the city today for doctor's appointments and such. I am so sorry that I haven't been able to catch up with you these last few days. I am looking forward to Friday when I can sit down and relax, visit blogs and enjoy seeing all of the pretties on IG. Monday I shared Spring Stamp 3 Bluebird and Bees Can't have a garden without bees. Today I am sharing "Stamp 4 The Hatchlings". Look at that one birdie that is eyeing the butterfly. "No butterfly snacks today , Sweetie" .π¦π¦ After stitching the nest , I used DMC 301 to create long stitches in the nest. WATCH THOSE NESTS AND BIRD BOXES FOR HATCHLINGS Bluebirds may use the same nest for multiple broods. Bluebird chicks hatch blind and are mostly naked with patches of gray down. They weigh about .08 ounces. That's teeny! They remain in the nest for 17-21 days entirely dependent on their parents for nutritional needs until they are able to find food for themselves. When fledgling bluebirds leave their nest, they do not return. If you are interested in stitching along with me, place grab the image below. Many of ya'll know but I always encourage you to read my little disclaimer and note about getting my charts. β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬β¬ NOTE: Normally I have been able to create links to the charts and instructions which were in JPG form. For some reason, recent updates on Google Docs. has prevented me from doing that and I am not able to create a pdf without having to deal with storage issues. Many dear stitchers say they right click, save the image and then print. I think some have copied and pasted it to a Word document that they can print off as well. I hope you are able to find a way to enjoy this chart. You will have to click each page to save. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding and for all of the helpful tips and ideas. I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding . I am always grateful for your kind encouragement , your visits, and for stitching my little designs. π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ TIPS ON PRINTING THE CHART So many sweet stitching friends have shared different ways in which they are able to get the charts. I would like to share them with you. *TIP 1- One of my dear stitching friends told me exactly how she was able to print the chart to the correct size. Using her phone she saved the image of the chart to her photo gallery and then emailed it to herself. From her computer or whatever device she was using she was able to then print the chart from her email and it came out without resizing it. It worked for her, maybe it would work for you if you are having trouble. * TIP 2 . Another stitchy friend said she did the same as in TIP 1 using her phone , but rather than emailing the chart to herself. She connects her phone directly to the printer and prints from there. Hmm! I learned something new again. π * TIP 3 Another dear stitcher said she enlarged the chart on her browser and then took a screen shot of it and then printed it. She also saved the screenshot to her photos on her iPad for reference. * TIP 4 Another sweet stitchy friend said she clicks on the photos, presses the screen save buttons and then edits until she finds the photo she wants and then saves to photos. But she does not print it from photos because it comes out too small so she then saves it to books and prints from there as an A4 size page. How ingenious!! It works for her. * TIP 5 Another option shared by another dear stitchy friend , said she right clicks the image. Several options will pop up Click "Open image in new tab". Right click this new image and click "Save Image as..." Title it and hit save. It will save to your download file. Open and print. If you have any other tips, I would greatly appreciate it . Ya'll know I am not too tech savvy. I do well to have got this far. ππ π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ Below is a schedule: STAMP RELEASE SCHEDULE : Introduction- April 1st Border & Header - April 3rd Stamp 1 Spring Watering Can - April 7th STAMP 2- Spring Planting - April 8th STAMP 3- Bluebird and Bees April 10th STAMP 4-April 12th STAMP 5- April 14th STAMP 6 -April 15th STAMP 7- April 17th STAMP 8 -April- 19th STAMP 9 -April 21st FINAL REVEAL (FFOd) - April 22nd π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ In order to make it quicker for me to stitch a stamp .I usually have several needles loaded and ready to go. Good morning, friends. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. I thought today , I would share my Christmas hutch. Let me warn you this is a photo heavy post. π· Many of you know that I cram this sucker full of country goodness. No minimalist here. Well lets' take a gander at my hutch. Though you can not tell, I started off putting red and white buffalo checked fabric as shelf runners. I layered red Dollar Tree plates with some thrifted white ones. Have I told you that I am a plateaholic " . I just love displaying plates and bowls. Lol. I know some of you can relate. Any whoo - on to the top shelf. In the corner is a little red compote dish housing a Hobby Lobby Santa mug and some vintage napkin rings. Beside it is a "vintage looking" sign from Walmart. My pride and joy is the Santa pitcher. I am plumb smitten over him. π β€π€π A Santa mug, a Dollar General sign and some jadeite round out the top shelf corner. I always have the same little vintage salt and pepper shakers on my shelf. My dear sister always found them at thrift stores for me. Hopping on down to the 2nd shelf you will find vintage and reproduction jadeite. In the jadeite measuring pitcher is a Santa mug . Beside it are some of the cutest vintagey Christmas ornaments gifted to me by dear, Shelly. They even play music. Aren't they just as cute as a button? Shelly also gifted me the teeny Santa mug with a tree ornament- doesn't he look like my Cup of Cheer Santa? Oh, I love these, Shelly- thank you! The little cookie jar on the jadeite bowl makes me smile with his cutting eyes. π My newest thrifty find is the Toyland Peanut Butter tin. In my vintage juicer I placed a red Dollar Tree bowl with a vintage mug and a bottle brush tree. Let's cruise on down to the bottom shelf. Two of my favorite cookie jars sit on the bottom shelf and they are big babies for the take up most of the room. I won't tell you how many Christmas cookie jars I have sitting out through out the house. π³ππͺ Lol. I got the camper and the truck at 2 different Walmarts I think 2 years ago . Mrs Claus is behind the camper as Santa stands outside of the camper. On the vintage scale is a vintage crocheted doily and a thrifted plate filled with bottle brush trees. Below my hutch is some of my tin collections including some Coca Cola pieces. The camper tree which is located in the corner did not receive all of its adornments, but that is ok. The tree is nestled in an old Eagle Snacks tin and is on top of an old milk crate. Do you remember the old metal milk crates? You don't see them anymore. Lots of little advertising Christmas tins are surround the tree. Well , that is just some of my country clutter for the month of December. Yesterday, I received so many lovely compliments on my Christmas Blessings pinkeep. I stitched it last year. I am sharing with you how it was charted , but you can tell that I extended my border around my stitch. I just did this by eyeing it and never charted it. I will try to chart my stitched version in the future and post it here. But for now here is the original version of Christmas Blessings just in case you are interested. Click here for the Instruction page. Click here for the Charts. Thank you so much dear friends for stopping by to see my Christmas Country clutter . I wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope you find some time to relax and enjoy the holiday amid all of the hustle and bustle. As always... Happy stitching and decorating, ya'll Melisa May you be blessed with the spirit of the season, which is peace; the gladness of the season, which is hope , and the heart of the season , which is love. Hugs and Stitches!!! Dedicated to my sweet sister Amy who loved thrifty finds just as much as I do. Every moment with you was a blessing. Love ya, Amo.

Hey, yall. I am slowly getting ready for Halloween, and for me Halloween would not be complete without a black cat. I have always had an affinity for the vintage black cat images . I particularly like the images of cats with sly grins and bright eyes. Every year I create a quilt ,embroidery piece or something with a black cat in it. It has sort of become a Halloween tradition. Well this is my 1st black cat Halloween cross stitch . This Halloween itty bitty freebie is called " Happy Cat". Just like my first itty bitty chart "Big Jack and Little Jaxs," it is teeny . I think Happy Cat looks quite dapper - sporting his polka dot tie. Don't you? The design size is 27 x 27 . I stitched mine on 14 count coffee/tea dyed aida which would bring it to 1 7/8" x 1 7/8". That also means it is a quick stitch. I used DMC floss and only four colors which are 921, 310, blanc, and 469 . I decided to finish mine on this little wooden round 4" box that I found at the Goodwill. The box was originally a natural color , but I painted mine black. Similar paper mache boxes can be found at the Dollar Tree or can be ordered from Factory Direct Craft Outlet . A regular mason jar lid was used as the circle template. I finished my stitching on a piece of batting covered mat board and then added two little ripped fabric ruffles . The orange polka dot fabric is from this year's Halloween selection at Walmart . The gingham was from an old sheet, but I know Walmart did have black and white gingham too. I also added a band of gingham around the side of the box as an accent. If you would like to stitch "Happy Cat" click here. My first Itty Bitty Chart was called "Big Jack and Little Jaxs" If you are interested in this freebie, click here . You will be redirected to that post. If you stitch Happy Cat, I would love to see your stitch ; just tag me on Instagram and use hashtag #pinkernpunkinquilting . Using the hashtag gives a better chance that I will see it. You can always direct message me too. Next to Happy Cat is Ole Jack a gourd I painted years ago and behind it is a quit with a bucket of Jacks. I will have to do a quilt parade in a future post. Have an awesome weekend and I hope it is filled with doing something that you love!! And as always... Happy Stitching, Melisa
If you are interested in Strawberry Saltbox , please check out the links below where you will find the jpgs. Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer. I stitch my little designs for fun and to decorate my home. I feel very blessed by this community and love sharing my little charts, but I am not a professional designer. And I do not have professional software. Thank you for understanding that I have to put each page on separate links because of the devices I use. I apologize for that. Click here for the Colored chart in jpg form. Click here for the Black / White chart in jpg form. If you would like to include your initials like I did . I have included an alphabet from a previous chart or you can create your own. You can see that I used a different "V" than what was charted. Click here for the alphabet/ numbers chart. Though this is another jammie kinda day with all of the rainy weather that has set in, I will not be staying in today. Mr. Pinker and I are going to venture out to do a bit of Christmas shopping. Good morning, cupcakes and welcome. A very Happy Tuesday to you. I hope you are way ahead of Mr . Pinker and I and already have your Christmas shopping done. I was able to stitch it up in just 2 1/2 hours. Misty posted it on July 5, 2022 on her website. I have a wee start on Stone Street Stitchworks "Home Again" freebie. Salma has all kinds of cute freebies as well. For me, December would not be complete if I did not share a new saltbox/ house stitch. This grand ole' house is called Christmas at Underwood Lane. Well a very Happy Slow Stitching Sunday to you, sweet friends. Please join me, I have poured myself a cup of cold chocolate milk on this sultry sunny day, but I do have iced sweet tea for your sipping pleasure. Yep it is supposed to get up to 80 today! So that means the old air conditioner is back to humming for a few more days. I had cut it off earlier this month , but with the warmer weather I needed the cooler air. Mr. Pinker however says it is freezing in this house; he is cold natured. ββ As soon as Little Mr. R, my oldest grandson, returns from his grand deer hunting trip , we will be off to visit family including the nephews. In hand ,will be "Shine on Harvest Moon" . I hope to sit on Mom's swing , watch the boys play and quilt the afternoon away of course as I chat away with whoever is out for a Sunday visit. I am sure there will breaks between quilting time for the boys do have pumpkins to carve. My fabric is tea/coffee dyed ,and I am ready to roll all thanks to sweet PJ! My Slow Sunday cross stitch project will be Hinzeit's November Point. I just love little monthly stitches. How about you? Thank you , dear PJ. It has been awhile since I have posed a To Do List so I am going to try to get back on track. Do you find that you stay on task better if you write your goals down? Or do you fly by the seat of your pants like a wild child? I do both! πππ Sometimes I go strictly by my list ; sometimes I am all over the place but every now and then I do accomplish a little. π€ Now onto the plans for the week. Hmm.... What Should I do This Week? π1. Add the borders to Father Christmas which is a design by Country Threads. " "Father Christmas " is available in the book Fast, Fun & Fabulous Quilts which was published by Rodale Press Inc. in 1996. The finished quilt will measure 29 x 43 inches. I am used needle turn applique for my Santas. π2.Work on Hinzeit's November Point. π3. Continue quilting on Butterfly Kisses border for at least 15 minutes a day . And yes, I did meet my goal this week of 15 minutes a day stitching. Eeeh! π4. Work on November's Monthly Doodle π5. Finish Block 1 in the Mr. Snow SAL starting on Thursday. Eeeh! Another Snowman embroidery SAL! π6. Enjoy the little Spooks who drop by for Halloween! π7. Quilt on Shine on Harvest Moon. π8.Take down Halloween and begin putting up Thanksgiving decor. Well that's enough to keep this old gal busy. QUESTION: Do you decorate for Thanksgiving or move straight on into Christmas ? Since it is Santa Sunday for me, I thought I would share my latest ornament that took only a couple of hours to stitch. In fact I whipped this Ole' World Santa up in the time that it took to watch 2 episodes of The Love Boat. Do you remember that 1980's sitcom? Anywhoo, Ole' World Santa is a simple prim stitch that only uses a few floss colors. I wanted to finish this ornament with what I had on hand so I used some quilting fabric and yarn to finish my little ornament. I think Santa and his sledding reindeer will look quite nice on my country Christmas tree. What do you think? πππππππππππππππ If you are interested in stitching this piece, just grab , the images. For printing tips, refer to the post Tips for Printing which has loads of tips from my sweet friends. πππππππππππππππ A little Sunday Halloween quilt stack on my newest addition to my child's chair collection. Aaah swoon, a blue chair. π€ A couple of weeks ago I saw a sweet orange child's chair at the thrift store. I have a cap on how much I will spend for a chair- $3.00. The darling pumpkin orange chair was $4.00 so it did not go in my buggy. And I bet you can already guess I was kicking myself for leaving it behind. When I went back a week later, of course it was gone. Mrs. Cheapskate stuck to her guns, but boy, do I wish I hadn'tπ. Lol. Oh gosh , please forgive me! I have been a chatterbox! I sure hope I did not talk your ears off. Well I am off to see what I can get done before the youngin' arrives. I wish you a Blessed day filled with joy , love, happiness and oh, yes some slow stitching time too! π As Always... Happy, happy Tuesday, ya'll. Yesterday was such a delightful day. I spent the day out on the patio enjoying the warm sunshine and listening to the birdies. Sweet Lilliput zinnias are coming up. I can not wait to see their colorful blooms this summer. Corpeosis is blooming and doing well. I do need to do some weeding though. I wonder why it is also called tickseed. Love this plant. I have lots of metal art in the gardens including this rusty crusty butterfly. I have let the volunteer lettuce go to bloom so I can harvest the seeds later. Ok , enough with the goings on outside. Let's talk about stitching. I am so excited to share with you my little finished patriotic saltbox house that I shared on IG last week. It is smaller than the other saltboxes. I never really have a specific size in mind when I make these, but I think it turned out cute. I named it Sarah Jane's 1776 Saltbox named after a distant great grandmother who lived during this time. Her father, Jacob and husband also named Jacob fought in the American Revolution .I know very little of this side of the family , but am still researching them. This little saltbox has a wooden fence with a patriotic bunting and a bald eagle perched on one fence post. A flag waves above. The windows have little patriotic buntings hanging from the sill and a large flag is on one side of the house. A little bee skep sits on the other side of the house with a little wild vine reaching for the sky. This stitch measures 65 W x 62 H and on 14 count aida would measure 4 5/8" x 4 3/8". I used 10 DMC floss colors to stitch this piece. I stitched the roof and windows in 3371, but I sort of wish I stitched it in black. I finished mine like the others in a simple little pillow finish. I do think this one would be very cute with some pretty patriotic fabric framing it or at least on one or two sides. And can you imagine all of the fun embellishments you could use? If you would like to stitch this home, please check out the pdfs below. I would be very honored. Many of you know , but I always like to leave this little disclaimer. Click here for the black and white chart. I pulled out the whole group of houses to admire. Oh boy, do they make me smile. There is a Christmas one in this pile of house stitches, but that is for a future post. If you missed the other saltbox houses , I would be thrilled if you took a moment to check them out. Just click on the names and you will be directed to the post with the pdfs. They include Crow Creek Saltbox, Ophelia Manor on Punkin Holler Lane , Willowisp Manor of Holler Lane , Turkey Creek Manor , Winter Saltbox , and Dorothy Mae's Spring House , Spring Green Saltbox , and Katie Anne's Saltbox . Well, I am off to see what the day allows. I am hoping lots of sunshine, and some garden and stitching time and maybe a little visit out to the farm. Thank you so much for the sweet visit. And as always... Happy stitching, ya"ll Melisa Hey, ya'll I would love to see your stitches. You can always Direct Message me on IG, tag me on IG using #pinkernpunkinquilting , or email me. It is always a delight , an honor and a treat to chat and see what you are up to. A man is a patriot if his heart beats true to his country. Hugs and stitches
Welcome , Welcome, my dears. How was your weekend? I hope it was a good one. I had a fabulous weekend working on my quilts which one I showed you yesterday. Later in the evening I am going to post a 2nd post to show you the 2nd quilt that I worked on. So if you have a chance drop back by . Anywhoo, we are on the last week of the Spring Stamp SAL and we are sliding down to row 3 of the stamps. On Saturday, I shared STAMP 6 - The Early Bird. The early bird gets the worm , you know. Today's stamp is called "Blooms, Bees and the Bluebird" I love sitting on the porch and watching the birds in the garden. Most of my flowers are in flower pots because we have very poor soil here in the holler. Often I will see birds on the ground near the pots and occasionally in a pot themselves. That is what inspired this little stamp. Notice that I backstitched a rim onto the terra cotta pot using DMC 898. I DID NOT CHART THIS but the stripes on the bees' bodies is created using one strand of DMC 3371 . Graphic Fairy LANDSCAPING FOR BLUEBIRDS You may be able to attract bluebirds and other birds through your landscaping. Plant native plants that have adapted to your climate. Bluebirds are attracted to berry producing shrubs, vines and trees such as flowering dogwood, foster holly, eastern red cedar, american elderberry as well as blackberry, blueberry and raspberry plants . * TIP 6 Another sweet stitchy friend gave a great tip on how she creates a pdf to save for later. On the iMac she saves each page to the downloads folder. The she uses "Command" & left clicks to select each file IN ORDER. Then wile all are highlighted , she right clicks and goes down to "Quick Actions" and selects "Create PDF" All 3 jpegs are tuned into one PDF file that she then renames to the pattern and moves it where she wants. She then deletes the jpg files to save space. When she is ready to stitch it she prints out her charts. * TIP 7 If you are using a computer , you might try this tip shared by another sweet friend. Right click on the page you want. Save. Right click on the image- Open with "Paint" Click on Resize. Change size of image from 100 to 200 pixels. Click OK- Then click SAVE. This saves the new size in the same folder the small sized file was. ---If you have any other tips, I would greatly appreciate it . Ya'll know I am not too tech savvy. I do well to have got this far. ππ π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ Please use #springstampsal and #pinkernpunkinquilting so I can follow along or you can direct message or email me so I do not miss your stitch. Good morning, Sunshine and happy, happy Tuesday. Let's all join in on a little sing along- ππI can see clearly now the rain is gone I can see all the obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had made me blind. It's gonna be a bright sunshiny day! ππ Lol. Do you remember this cheerful song "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash? If you do, you might find yourself humming it today as you go through your daily routine. π I will take the blame for that. Lol. My view from the front of the house. It is gonna be a bright sunshiny day though well at least in my neck of the woods. πNo rain in the forecast . If it is not too hot, I may spend the day outside stitching away. We will see. I thought it would be fun to have a themed week. This week's theme is sunflowers. It is one of my favorite flowers though I am not great at growing them. So what about you? Do you like sunflowers ? I have been slowly pulling out my sunflower decor and incorporating them with my bees and chickens. This week I hope to share 3 sunflower freebies with you. So I hope you will pop in for a visit throughout the week. I am super excited about today's cross stitch. Ok! This is officially- as of right now- my favorite saltbox that I have created! But I must admit , I might say the same thing when I stitch the next one. ππ Many of ya'll know that I name the saltboxes after family members. This is Susan's Summer Saltbox and is named after my 3rd great grandmother, Susan. So let me tell you a little about Susan. Of course I never met her, but knowing my grandmother and great grandfather, I imagine her as a strong, cheerful ,determined lady. My 3rd Great Grandma Susan and 3rd Great Grandpa Alexander lived in the cove in the mid 1800's. Grandpa Alexander was killed during the Civil War when one night a thief came to their house and stole a mule. Alexander chased the thief into the wilderness where he was shot and later found. He did not die immediately but succumbed a few days later from gangrene. Great Grandma Susan had to raise her nine children alone. She never did marry but spent the next 40 years enjoying her days on the farm surrounded by her family. A house surrounded by blooming flowers seemed appropriate for Susan. Her children bloomed and thrived with her nurturing, and they grew up to be happy and productive. The house is surrounded by two vases filled with sunflowers reaching for the sky. Of course, I had to add a couple of quilt motifs and a big vase of flowers below. A quilt block is on the side of the house as well. It is a small with a design size of 69 x 74 . I stitched mine on my usual 14 count coffee/ tea dyed aida. I was quite pleased how the colors popped. If you would like to stitch Grandma Susan's house , I invite you to check out the pdfs below. Click here for the instruction page. Click here for the colored chart. Click here for the black and white chart. This little house looks so lovely paired with other saltboxes that I have stitched like Aunt Bea's Summer Saltbox and Edna Viola's Saltbox. The village is expanding. Soon the whole family will be living in the houses. Lol. If you have missed any of the other saltboxes, just click on the names below and you will be whisked back to a previous posts for your reading pleasure, and you will also find links to the charts there as well. They include Crow Creek Saltbox, Ophelia Manor on Punkin Holler Lane , Willowisp Manor of Holler Lane , Turkey Creek Manor , Winter Saltbox , and Dorothy Mae's Spring House , Spring Green Saltbox , Katie Anne's Saltbox , Sarah Jane's 1776 Saltbox , Aunt Bea's Summer Home , Christmas Eve Saltbox and Edna Viola's Saltbox . Well , I am off to continue stitching on a little patriotic sampler . I am delighted and honored that you took some time out of your busy day to spend it with me. That means the world to me , my dear friends. Have a beautiful sunshiny day! Oh , here I go again about to break out into a song. lol. I will spare you. π As always... Happy stitching, ya'll Melisa Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadows. It is what sunflowers do. - Helen Keller Hugs and Stitches

Happy Tuesday and welcome! Come on in and visit a moment and see the newest addition to the Barnyard series. Santa has made his way to the farm and his first stop is at the pigsty which is decorated with pine garland along the roof line and a small tree. Out to greet Santa is Winifred the Pig and of course Henrietta the hen. What treats will Santa bring them? This is a small just like the other ornaments measuring 31 x 31. I stitched 2 in a day on 14 count aida which means these are fast stitches. One was stitched on coffee tea dyed aida. The other was stitched on Rit Dyed Emerald Green aida. Both of the ornaments were finished on foam board wrapped with a double layer of batting. I then used homespun fabrics on covered mat boards. Jute cording was made from jute bought at the Dollar Tree. I also made homespun cording from strips of fabric to embellish the edges. On one ornament I constructed a big red bow from Dollar General ribbon. The other- I used pine boughs from a wreath and made a bow with bits of raffia. Easy peasey! I hope you decide to add Santa to your stitching list. If so, check out the pdfs below. I have had some questions about what floss I used. They are listed in the instructions which is the 1st pdf. I am trying to use the same floss in all of the ornaments, but use whatever colors your heart desires. I also list the number of stitches for each color that may affect your color choice too. For the instructions pdf, click here . For the color pdf ,click here . For the black and white pdf, click here . I get so excited each time I pull all of the ornaments out. If you have missed any , click on the names below and you will be sent to the post with the charts. Some are pdfs and some are not. They are: Chicken Sled, Santa's Ride , Special Delivery , Christmas Barn, Christmas Bucket, Christmas Tractor , Santa on the Farm, Mrs. Claus on the Farm , and The Stockings Were Hung Well I am off to see what other happenings may take place on the farm. There's a house upon the hilltop We will not go inside For that is where the witches live, Where ghosts and goblins hide. Tonight they have their party. All the lights are burning bright . But oh we will not go inside The haunted house tonight....- Jack Prelutsky Well hello there stranger! Welcome! It has been a few blue moons since I have posted- well actually just a few days, but it sure feels like it has been awhile for me. ππ It was fall break here, and you know what that meant-- Eeeeh Grandma time! Yep , "The Boys" ( that is what we call the grandbabes and the nephews) have been out of school and have been keeping us busy going here and there and everywhere. Lots of fall fun including a fishing tournament where my nephew and grandson placed 7th. Yah! There was so much fun to be had that I have not been on the computer not once - so please forgive me- I will be playing catch up this week . A glimpse at my small black cat Halloween tree. The countdown is on!!! 14 days until Halloween 37 days until Thanksgiving 69 days until Christmas Oooh, do you want to visit a haunted house? Come on ! I think we are brave enough to see what this house has in store for us! My newest house in the neighborhood has ghoulish ghosts and sly black cats creeping about. Beyond the doors- who knows what secrets the house holds. The new home is called Halloween Manor. I believe those cats have their own magical powers- they are climbing the walls!!! Halloween Manor has a stitch design of 81 x 76. I stitched my spooky home on 14 count aida which brought it to about 5 3/4" x 5 3/8". I used 11 DMC floss colors which include 782, 469, 934, 648, 898, Blanc, 301, 3799, 317, 310 and 919. π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π»π» If you are interested in stitching this piece, just grab , the images. Lol. π»π Now tell me do you have any tales of a haunted house? As a child, we lived in an older house called the Lewis house which was said to be haunted by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. Of course being an older home , we kiddos naturally heard bumps in the night. But the scariest thing I ever saw in the old Lewis home was snakes crawling out of the attic. Yikes! Mom gathered us youngin's up and we high tailed it to my Nanny's until dad got home to rustle those slithering critters up. I believe he pulled at least 4 long snakes from the eaves of the house as my sister and I stood a safe distance away. ππππ So no ghosts- but definitely snakes going bump in the night! Hmmmm I think I would have preferred the ghosts. Another one of my Halloween favorites- "Brooms for Sale " by Homepsun Elegance Well, Sweeties, that is my tale for the day. I appreciate the sweet visit and wish you a spooktacular Tuesday. As always... Happy stitching, y'all Melisa If one door closes and another one opens, your house is probably haunted. π» Hugs and Stitches!!! The grandsons were elated when they found this little guy. Cock a Doodle Doo! Rise and Shine , my sweet friends!!! This is little stitch is from Hands on Design and Priscilla Blain. I am so glad that we are friends because I have a little confession to make. I did something last night.π³ I know some of you are going to roll your eyes and shake your head with a smile on your face, but ssssh don't tell anyone but .... I turned on the Christmas music last night. Lol. ππ³π I know... I know. I promise I am not jumping the holidays . I just wanted to relax. That's my story and I am sticking to it! Lol . Soooo with a click on Youtube my toes were a tapping, and I was a singing off tune with joy in my heart with Nat King Cole , Frank Sinatra and oh yes! Elvis. Do I get a reprieve with the revelation that I was working on a little Christmas stitching too? Aaah ! Come on - join the dark sideππππ and listen to Christmas music before October. I want tell. Lol. Ok I know. Why am I talking about Christmas music when it is Pumpkin Tuesday! So Happy Pumpkin Tuesday , punkins! Rosie's Pumpkins - A 2020 Fall Freebie found here on the blog. My pumpkin stitch for today is Autumn's Saltbox. It is named after my daughter. A crisp white house sits amid a yard filled with pumpkins. Of course, I had to add my crows and Midnight, a childhood kitty that I once had. The leaves have turned on the tree. This is a small measuring. 69 x62 and on 14 count aida that would measure about 4 7/8" x 4 3/8". If you are interested, please check out my little pdfs below and the little disclaimer . Click here for the instruction page Click here for the colored chart. Click here for the black and white chart. The mischief in me is screaming "Post a Christmas stitch too!!! " Okee Dokee . Will do ". I might just get one of you singing off tune with me and ole ' Blue Eyes tonight. Sooo... Here is a little Christmas stitch to tempt you. It is called "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" . I chose a certain color scheme for a tree idea I have, but you could stitch it in your favorite colors. After I stitched my Christmas boxes, I decided I wanted them to have some polka dots so being the lazy stitcher that I am I just stitched in some white stitches over my previous stitches.π I didn't chart the polka dots , but you could add them if you like. I haven't FFOd mine yet , but I will post when I do. ( Can you see how close to the edge I stitched? I am cutting it close for FFOing. lol . I just love to use those scraps though. ) Click here for the instruction page Click here for the colored chart. Click here for the black and white chart. It has been a delightful visit, my friends. I sure hope you will come back soon. I have 2 other Christmas stitches like this one that uses the same colors. I hope to post them in the future, and of course, I am always dreaming of saltboxes. Have a very blessed Autumn day and as always... Happy Stitching, ya'll Melisa Oh! And go listen to some Christmas music ! Pumpkin is the spice of life! Hugs and Stitches!!! Dedicated to my dear sister, Amy who would be ready to take her younguns to the pumpkin patch in the fall. I love and miss you, Amo.

Good morning, ya'll!! And Happy Tuesday! I am so happy you are visiting me today. Please, come on in, have a seat and let's chat for a bit. Yesterday was a great day for stitching. I snuggled up on the couch, pulled out several projects and stitched away as I watched my mysteries. Come evening, it was time to head to the grandson's baseball game. I took along a little embroidery project to work on for when I had a chance. How has your week started off? I hope good . I have been working on another saltbox, and I'm so excited to share it with you. This one is called Katie Anne's Saltbox. I know you are probably saying - "Wasn't the last house a green one too? " Yep ! I promise you I did not intend to stitch another green saltbox, but let me tell you what happened. I was looking in my Basket of Tangles( my unorganized floss basket ), and I saw 3816 Celadon Green having a play party with 3855, Autumn Gold and 3776, Mahogany Light . They looked so pretty together, and of course, they kept calling my name saying "Pick me , Pick me !" I just could not resist those pretties so out of the basket they came. So that is partially how Katie Anne's Saltbox was born. Lol . To be honest, I was surprised that this color was called green so I felt compelled to google "Celadon Green" . According to the Oxford dictionary, it is a "willow green" or "pale gray green" . Hmmm interesting. I see blues. This house has a little back porch with a kitty on the roof. Of course, you could leave it off, if you wanted. There is a porch swing perfect for sitting and stitching the day away. I used DMC 646 to add the porch swing chains and a slat in the seat as well as the arm rests. Sweet flowers spill from a basket and spray of flowers are overhead . I think I would love to live here. This stitch is a little bigger than the previous saltboxes measuring 67 x 76 which on 14 count aida or 28 count evenweave that would be about 4 3/4" x 5 3/8" . I stitched mine on coffee/ tea dyed aida. There are nine floss colors in this stitch. Of course, you do not have to have a Celadon Green house, you could change it to your favorite colors . If you are interested in stitching Katie Anne's Saltbox , please check out the pdfs below. Because I do not have professional software, I am unable to put the pages in one pdf; I apologize for that. Click here for instruction page. Click here for colored chart. Click here for the black and white chart. I just love the delicate sweet look of this little house. If you missed the other saltbox houses , I would be thrilled if you took a moment to check them out. Just click on the names and you will be directed to the post with the pdfs. They include Crow Creek Saltbox, Ophelia Manor on Punkin Holler Lane , Willowisp Manor of Holler Lane , Turkey Creek Manor , Winter Saltbox , and Dorothy Mae's Spring House and Spring Green Saltbox I am so grateful that you took a little time out of your day to spend it with me. I plan to post my tiered trays tomorrow if all goes well. As always... Happy stitching, ya'll Melisa Blessings come in many ways and the nicest come as friends. Hugs and stitches,
