Hello! Great Penguin's win last night! Let's hope the Steelers can follow suit this weekend. I love Pittsburgh and one of my all time favorite things about Pittsburgh is the variety of homes. There are so many different architectural styles and materials. It really makes for a unique and eclectic vibe.. You will see tudors next to craftsmans and Victorians next to mid-century moderns. The contrasts are absolutely amazing. I also love the gems. A totally inconspicuous house can have such wonderful architectural details that, when driving by, you would not even notice. Us Pittsburghers are so lucky to be surrounded by such beauty on a daily basis. Just beautiful. I could, and probably will, do a blog post about each individual style. Sorry it took so long to get to, but the original point of this post was to draw your attention to a gem of a home that is for sale in Bellevue. You feel as though you have stepped back in time when you go inside. It is absolutely stunning. Take a look at some of my favorite parts. They just don't make home like it anymore! For more information, check it out on zillow or contact me. Thanks for reading,

Name: Rachel & Eric Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania My husband is an architect and designed our house from the ground up. It’s new construction, located in Pittsburgh, in the north side neighborhood of Deutschtown. Deutschtown is a city neighborhood with mostly row homes and this is our own modern interpretation of a classic north side row home. We love the neighborhood and lived here for about five years before building from scratch.
According to a new study from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, Pittsburgh is the eighth most gentrified city in America. With 20 percent of its eligible census tracts being gentrified between 2000-2013, Pittsburgh was more gentrified than cities like San Francisco, Austin, and Denver.
Tthe Moreland-Hoffstot House, completed in 1914, is one of the last survivors of Pittsburgh's Fifth Avenue Millionaires Row, which once rivaled the one in New York. Built for Andrew Moreland, who held various positions in the iron and steel industry in the early 1900s, he lived there through 1926. The house is a second-generation copy of the Grand Trianon in Versailles, which Louis XIV built for his mistress. Architect Stanford White based Rosecliff, the Newport, R.I., mansion he designed for the Oelrich family of New York, on the French landmark. When Moreland married into the family, White’s work in Newport was the model. Henry Phipps Hoffstot bought the house in 1929 and lived there until his death in 1967. He served as vice president of operations of the Pressed Steel Car Co. from 1918 to 1933 and president of its subsidiary, the Koppel Industrial Car and Equipment Co., from 1918 to 1936. His son, Henry, extensively restored it. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
