My 2018 Valentines were made by stamping a foil design (in various foil colours) over vintage Harlequin Romance novel covers from approximately the 1960s–’80s. Fronts and backs were used for a total of approx. 300 completely unique valentines. 2018
Because this Valentine thing has gotten a little out of control in a covetous way, I thought it would be nice if I was able to give people multiple valentines that were all similar but slightly different, so they could keep one or two for themselves and still have a few to give away. Richard Turley is maybe my favourite Art Director. Another great—if I do say so myself—cover for The Guardian’s G2. It is a complex pattern designed to make letterforms. 2007

Society of Graphic Designers of Canada / BC Chapter Annual Report for 2004. I chose 10 blackletter typefaces to print this report. Because I wanted to. No one ever reads these things anyway, but for the record, it was perfectly legible. It just happens to look great as well. 2005

Todd Falkowsky of Motherbrand in Toronto approached me to design a … a … well, see, there’s this machine that squishes pennies, just like we used to do on the railroad tracks when we were kids (only it’s safer) and it has the ability to impress a new image into the penny, turning the penny... Based in Montmartre, Paris, Steinlen frequented the Le Chat Noir cabaret. There he met Toulouse Lautrec, Adolphe Willette and Aristide Bruant.
