Gray skies, rainy roads and amazing fall foliage made for some perfect photo opportunities during my drive across America on Route 66. This particular stretch in Missouri was the first time since I started my trip that I really felt as if I was riding a stretch of "Old Road." There were no freeways to be seen and barely any other human beings. The roads were narrow and in various stages of disrepair and the fall foliage acted as a canopy, draping the entire scene in it's beautiful color. I later learned that yes, I was driving one of the most famous parts of the Mother Road that afternoon, as the Devil's Elbow Bridge. This two-span through truss bridge over Big Piney River at Devils Elbow on Teardrop Road was built on Old Route 66 in 1923 but made obsolete by a new US 66 bridge in 1942. ............................................................................................ Pulaski County Courthouse, from across West 2nd Street in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas. Taken for the U.S. County Courthouses group. This is a vertical digital panorama from two landscape orientation images. It was adjusted in postprocessing to bring back the overexposed sky and to (so far, only partially) remove some power lines.
