The award of the Queensland Police Service Medal (QPSM) was introduced in 1999 to recognise the diligent and ethical service by members of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and is not granted as a right by virtue of long service. In 2009 the Commissioner approved a change in the eligibility criteria for the award to be made available to living former members who served in the QPS prior to the introduction of the QPSM. Medal issued for 10 years service with a clasp issued for each further period of 5 years eligible service.*Clasps for this medal must be ordered separately using the 'Clasps' product in each collection.
