A few weeks ago, I wrote about High School Boys'/Young men's fashion in the 1920s. Now I want to take a quick look an teen girls clothing from the 1920s. It is a tricky subject to research, because the term teenager wasn't used until the 1940s. In terms of buying clothing, high school age kids
Fancy dress outfit of a Lyons tea maid. Black and white serving uniform with apron and headress. Handmade for a young girl.
From re-purposed lard pails to bento boxes, the way students carry lunch to school has changed almost as much as the classrooms they learn in.

A rare survivor! From 1920s to 30s depression era, this complete matching set retains its original factory-issue enamel painted finish with stencil accents of birds and foliage. The set does have original paper maker's labels, made by National Furniture Company. The photos here are preliminary, as poor weather was approaching at the time, and a couple of pieces needed minor repairs. I will expand upon this later, weather and time permitting but wanted to gauge interest here. Feel free to convo me for more info and to discuss. UPDATE SPRING 2024: The response to the set since originally posting has been more than I could have hoped! I'm pleased that others thing as highly of it as I did, so we're moving ahead with a few minor repairs and new pics that better show all its features. And we've decided to split the set and offer individual items. The vanity cannot be saved in its original form with a huge overhaul, so I am turning it into nightstands that will be sold together with the bed as a bedframe and nightstand set. The chair and bench will be sold separately, as they are not really needed for the rest of the set. The dresser and mirror will be sold together with the chifforobe as a high/low dresser/chest pair. The original paint is a creamy antique white or off-white color. This is a factory-issue finish, original to the set, which is far scarcer than the average walnut color finish, more common at the time. The underlying wood on these types of sets is usually identical to the walnut wood finish variety. Many of them were custom ordered. The original finish has wear and tear, in generally antiqued and distressed condition, which came naturally over the course of many years of use. The dresser deserves special mention, because it is the only piece of the set which has another color under the white enamel. It's green. Was this a factory error? Did another customer cancel a custom finish order, or change their order? In 25 years of furniture flipping, this is the only time I have ever seen this on a matching set, where the original factory painted over another color on just one of the pieces but not the others. It makes for an interesting bit of furniture history and a real conversation piece!! OPTIONS: -curly-footboard full size double bedframe, complete with rails (no slats), and tow matching nightstands. -tall chifforobe chest with drawers and hanging rod inside, and lowboy dresser with mirror and pin boxes, both with lids. The chair, long mirror and vanity bench are no longer included. There was a vanity, but it was severely damaged by movers decades ago, so I took it apart to make night stands and wall mirror. Smaller parts will be sold separately, so check my listings or ask- it's easier to ship the small pieces separately via UPS or fedex. Some knobs are missing. The modern replacements it came with were removed and discarded. The dresser and chifforobe are on wheels. Mirrors and backsplashes are removeable for safe transport. *damaged, tattered and torn as-is Vintage old estate found Clara Bow fan scrapbook album. Around 50 pages with images on front and back. Thin paper with glued on little paper clippings. No actual original photos though. Most are of Clara Bow though there are a few of Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford and silent film era actors as well. Some news clippings and pages just tucked into the back including Clara Bow's death announcement. Around 8.5 x 11 inch wide across cover. *Almost all of the pages are torn loose and no longer attached to the album...the album is damaged and barely holding together with torn off cover...overall the pages are very thin and brittle and do flake and tear with handling....so overall needs handled with care. Age worn with spots, stains, discoloration, tears and some missing images too. *Please note photos Size approx: around 8.5 x 11 inch widest across covers *Please see shop policies before purchase.
