This exquisitely chased and repoussed silver shallow dish or plate is a remarkable example of the high standard that Ceylonese silver-smithing work reached in the nineteenth century. It is finely worked all over with typically Ceylonese floral and foliage motifs within geometric borders.
Armed with their newly acquired knowledge of diffusion-welded mokume gane, the Pijanowskis came back to America to continue their pioneering work in the field.
