Paul Revere Challenge Game! YES! Your students will be up to this challenge! Your students will have a ton of fun with Paul Revere Challenge Game! And you will easily find out how much they have learned as they review important information about this important historical figure. Here you have 44 cards. On the front is a question, and on the back is the answer. Students take turns (in pairs, small groups, or large groups) answering a question. If the answer is correct, the student receives the number of points indicated on the back of the card. An extra page of blank cards is included so you may add additional questions that you feel are important. To print this game, set your printer to “Print on both sides. Flip on the short edge.” ALWAYS check and make sure your answers and questions line up correctly before cutting them apart. The bottom left corner has been shaded and can be trimmed off to help you easily arrange the cards. Print pages 2-15. Play this game in a variety of ways: * Many teachers enjoy projecting the questions and having students answer on an answer sheet. For this reason we are including a numbered recording sheet. Great activity for review quiz! * Teachers love using this as a study guide! Simply cut apart the cards and store them in Ziploc bags. Put them at a center, or let students keep in desk for use during extra moments during the day. Great activity for homework or centers! * Others prefer using this as a partner or small group game, played with 2-4 players. Stack the cards, question side up. Each player takes a card without looking at the answer on the back. If the answer is correct, the player keeps the card. If the answer is incorrect, the player puts the card on the bottom of the pile. Determine the winner by counting the cards or by counting the points. This also works well using generic game boards; students use the points on the back of the cards to determine how many spaces to move. Great activity for test prep! * You might choose to print the questions, front side only, and have students answer on the recording sheet. Use the game this way as seatwork or as a scavenger hunt, allowing students to use reference materials (books, internet, etc.) to locate answers. Great activity for computer lab! * Choose the cards that you think are important based on what you have been teaching. You might choose to add questions using the blank page of cards, and you might choose to eliminate certain questions that are not applicable to your current teaching. Let this product be a timesaver for you as you prepare for your standardized tests. ******************************************************************** Be sure to check out the preview! ******************************************************************** Related Products Paul Revere Activity Pack Paul Revere I Have Who Has Paul Revere Board Game Paul Revere Scoot Game ****************************************************************** Save 25% when you purchase all five products as a bundle! This is a research organizer about Paul Revere from our series: "Podcast from the Past." Many students in our time are learning from interviews they hear on podcasts, so this organizer takes on the format of a podcast interview for student engagement. Students take ownership by doing their own research. This assignment can be used flexibly in your classroom. The organizer can be assigned for independent research, but it can also work well for collaboration in pairs. Note: You can also get this item in our Founding Fathers Bundle that contains the same format for 12 key Founding Fathers. If you would like them all, please buy the bundle instead of this individual one and save 50%. Thank you for stopping by! If you like this product, please leave feedback. ***************************************************************************** Customer Tip: How to get TPT credit for future purchases: Go to your "My Purchases" page. This is a Google Slides presentation with 17 questions over the skills below: Elements of Poetry Figurative Language Literary Elements The questions pair with the passage Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. This selection can be found in the HMH Into Reading 3rd grade curriculum (Texas - Module 8, Week 2) or it can be bought as a stand alone book...or shown as a read aloud online. Hey there! I wanted to share something we did recently that I was really excited about!! We've been learning about the American Revolution in Social Studies. I'm sure you know what a primary source is, right? It's basically an artifact from history that's real. It was created by someone that lived during that period or around it. Yep, that's my official definition. :O) I usually use photographs or paintings, etc, as a primary source document. Or, a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Something like that. Well, we were talking about the Boston Massacre, and did you know that Paul Revere used propaganda??? Yep. He did. And I totally used that word with my students. They were like, propa what? I was like PROPAGANDA - because saying it louder means they'll understand it, right? Um, no. They didn't. So we talked about it. Here's the picture that Paul Revere engraved (yes engraved) in 1770 about the Boston Massacre and then copied it for all of the colonies to see. So, in this picture it would appear that the British lined up and started shooting at the poor unsuspecting colonists. However, this is not how it REALLY happened, which Paul Revere knew since it happened in his home town of Boston. But, he wanted to fuel the flame of anger and discontentment with Britain so he swung it the way he wanted to...which = propaganda! What REALLY happened was that the colonists way outnumbered a lone British soldier (Redcoat) and they were taunting him, throwing snowballs, sticks, and rocks at him until he called for help. A few more Redcoats came to help and the colonists continued their mob like mentality until they clubbed a soldier, he fell, and his gun went off (or at least that's one theory). The general yelled DON'T fire but maybe they didn't hear right and so a few more fired. But that didn't quite play into Paul Revere's hand, so he dubbed this a massacre and it spread through colonies like wildfire. (again- propaganda) Well, I also found another picture (primary source) when I was creating my Causes of the American Revolution Articles that I found interesting. This was created in 1868 by Alonzo Chappel. It was about 100 years later, but this picture tells a different story. So, I had my students compare and contrast the two pictures. They did really well!! Here are a few of their sheets! They really nit-picked what was different and why. I was very impressed with the conversations going on!! And, they were totally engaged and LOVED it!! (This activity is in the Articles and Activities pack that I mentioned above!) We are also about ready to test on the Road to Revolution so we are having our students make picture notecards of the events to help them study. Basically, they can draw anything they want on the front of the index card that represents that event to them and then they just label it on the back. Here is an example: So, we'll be moving into important events of the American Revolution and I'm excited to say, I have finished the articles that are a sequel to my Causes of the American Revolution set!! As you can see, I have another activity in this pack that also uses a primary source (plus all of the articles have primary sources in them as well) and this one is on the painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware (because you know it didn't really happen this way, right? I doubt he was standing in the boat!) I wanted to note that these articles are perfect for grades 4-6! For grade 4, you'll probably want to read it with them and do much of it whole group. 5th and 6th grade would be more independent, and you can always use this to differentiate within your classroom! So, since I have finished these articles, I would love to give some away! You can pin it to win it!! Yep, you got it!! You have the chance to win them!! Here is the pin: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/515451119823499258/ Click on the pin and repin it. Then, copy the URL of your pin and paste it in the comments. Also, leave your email address so if you win, I know where to send it! I'll choose two winners!! Thanks so much for reading about how I used primary sources! I'm linking this up with my friend Erin for Be sure to check Erin's blog for more ideas!
