Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. Monument to Bolshevik revolutionary and statesman Stepan Shahumyan, in the city of Yerevan, Armenia. Stepan Shaumyan is depicted at the time of his execution. Behind the sculpture are seven rectangular basalt pylons, united by an entablature consisting of an architrave and a jib. Sculpture and pylons stand on a common stepped stylobate. The monument designed by the sculptor S. D. Merkurov and architect I. V. Zholtovsky,was erected in 1931 on Shaumyan Square.
