Após o Yom Kippur, comemorou-se, em todas as comunidades judaicas espalhadas pelo Mundo, A Festa das Cabanas, Sucot como é dito em Hebraico. סוכות ou סֻכּוֹת sukkōt, cabanas) é um festival judaico que se iniciou no dia 15 de Tishrei de acordo com o calendário judaico. Também conhecido como Festa dos Tabernáculos ou festa das colheitas visto que coincide com a estação das colheitas em Israel, no começo do Outono. É uma das três maiores festas do judaísmo, conhecidas como Shalosh Regalim, onde o povo de Israel ia em peregrinação ao Templo de Jerusalém. A Festa é especialmente comemorada como cumprimento da Lei Mosaica, que nos dá a Mitzváh de comemorarmos esta festividade, que relembra-nos os 40 anos de deserto após a saída do Egipto. Mas também nos lembra a reconstrução do Templo, por Neemias após a permissão dada por Ciro da Pérsia, aquando do grande exílio da Babilónia os judeus haviam perdido o seu Templo, o seu país, mas agarrando-se à sua fé em D-us nunca desistiram de regressar a Jerusalém. O mesmo podemos dizer que se repetiu com a grande Diáspora depois da guerra Romano-judaica, em que milhares de judeus foram massacrados, crucificados e expulsos da sua própria terra, para todos os cantos do Mundo, ainda assim agarraram-se com mais fé a D-us HaShem, e depois de 2000 anos conseguiram reaver a sua pátria, juntando o povo judeu num só Israel. Nenhum outro povo mostrou tamanha fé, nenhum outro povo após a perda de seu território permaneceu a existir como o povo de D-us o povo judeu. E o Senhor mostrou que está sempre com o povo judeu. Por isso Sucot lembra-nos tudo isto, mas de uma forma curiosa, são usadas 4 espécies, que nos revelam as atitudes humanas perante a Toráh e a pratica do bem. A Toráh diz: "E tomareis para vós, no primeiro dia, o fruto da árvore formosa (Etrog), palmas de tamareiras e ramos de murta e salgueiro de ribeiras, e vos alegrareis diante do Eterno, vosso D'us por sete dias".(Levítico 23:40) Ramo de Lulav - tem sabor, mas não tem cheiro, simboliza aqueles que estudam a Toráh mas não praticam as boas ações Nela ensinadas. Ramos de Murta - tem um cheiro bom, mas não têm sabor, simboliza assim as pessoas que possuem boas ações, mas não estudam a Toráh. Ramos de Salgueiro - não tem nem cheiro nem sabor, simbolizando todos aqueles que carecem tanto de estudar a Toráh bem como de fazer boas ações. Etrog, é um tipo de Cidra amarela, tem paladar e aroma bons, simbolizando assim todos aqueles que tanto estudam a Toráh como praticam boas ações.
