The crucifixion of Jesus has been depicted in religious art since the 4th century CE. World renown Scottish-born artist David Mach, famous for his stunning sculptures made out of wire coat hangers, turned heads with his own depiction of the Bible's most compelling event- his "Golgotha" sculpture first debuted in his 2011 exhibition titled "Previous Light", which opened in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible. The monumental piece is again provoking a strong reaction with its recent display within the 14th century walls of Chester Cathedral in England.

Bartolomeo Cavarozzi (1587-1625) - Virgin and Child with Angels
This post was originally published at Parabola.org on January 29, 2015. It is amazing that something so tiny could pack such a punch. The Gospel of Mary Magdalene is tantalizingly brief—and, frustratingly, two major sections are missing, reducing the original seventeen manuscript pages by more than half. Yet what remains is more than enough to radically overturn […]

The best example of how a consensus is formed is the family. Amid the joys and sufferings of life together, the family is such a source of intense cohesion that even non-family members such as close friends can be assimilated into it with a high degree of adherence and affinity. The whole family is enriched […]

Male Archetypes, ecofriendly A3 Print, Wall Art Poster, Infographic, Correspondence Chart, Sacred Masculine, Men's work. ~°* Details *°~ This is a wall art poster which has been designed as a tool for you to explore masculinity. This infographic poster uses soulful artwork to describe the four universal archetypes within the psyche of men and their eight shadow expressions. The aim of this work with masculine energy is to psychologically integrate each archetype in its most healthy expression. This means moving from immature and polarised shadow behaviour to fully mature and sacred masculinity. This concept is profound and has helped many men to change the way they look at themselves. The teachings come from Robert L. Moore (a Jungian psychoanalyst) and Douglas Gillette (a mythologist) who wrote a famous book called "King, Warrior, Magician, Lover". ~°* Material *°~ You will receive a high-quality eco-print on 250gsm uncoated poster paper, printed by a professional UK-based eco-printing company in Devon. ~°* Size *°~ A3, 29.7 x 42 cm or 11.7 x 16.5 inches. ~°* Shipping *°~ Posted in a sturdy mailing tube on a weekly basis by Royal Mail, fast and reliable, free UK delivery included. ~°* Policy and Commitment *°~ In the unlikely case of loss or damage during delivery, I am committed to resending a second copy of the print without any additional costs to my customers after a six-week waiting period to accommodate potential delays. ~°* Forestheart *°~ To be part of my unfolding exploration of nature-inspired creativity and magical artwork, as well as workshop offerings and storytelling events, please feel free to connect with me and follow my work on social media or via my website: Website ~ https://www.forestheart.co.uk Facebook ~ https://www.facebook.com/yannick.dubois.1986 Instagram ~ https://www.instagram.com/forestheart.art Etsy ~ https://www.etsy.com/shop/forestheartcelticart
We love how every artist has their own way of doing a picture. How many pictures have you seen of the Adoration of the Magi, and yet none of them look like this. Albert Edelfelt was one of the great artists of the 19th Century, and he was from Finland. One thing you can say about the Finns, they know what winter is like. And from this picture, we might suppose that winter is often a cozy time for them, as Mary and Jesus look so comfortable in the snowy woods. As does, for that matter, the three kings and the townsfolk behind them in their Marian procession. Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt (1854–1905) was a prolific painter with a huge reputation. His father had died young, and his widowed mother raised their children under financial strain. He went to a Finnish art school as a teenager, and at age 19 he went to Paris, of course, and studied at the great Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He stayed in Paris for years after that, his realist painting gradually acquiring the softer touches of Impressionism. He achieved success in the Salons, especially with a painting of Louis Pasteur, which we plan to include later in our Heroes of Catholic Science series. Edelfelt also did a handful of other beautiful Catholic paintings which we hope to add to our collection. This painting we think dates later than most, and has an illustration style to it. ** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt. – Acid-free paper – Archival pigments, rated to last for generations. – Cardboard backer – Above story of the art – Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag. Thanks for your interest! Thanks! In 2009, a famous tour came to London. Every day for several weeks, people queued in their thousands, huddled into little groups and raising flimsy umbrellas against the old city’s autumnal drizzle. Big Ben chimed another hour gone, the sun began to retreat behind clouds, but still, they waited, inching…

Henri Lehmann (1814-1882) was a painter of portraits, religious, genre, historical, allegorical and literary works. He drew inspiration from classical mythology, Shakespeare and contemporary writers. Sometimes considered dry and academic, the best of his work can be both pure in line and graceful in form.
A journey of light and dark. A journey of shadow and sun light. I am King Warrior Magician Lover. The images, posts, and dialogue are stream of consciousness for moments in time and space. Deeply passionate about the core energy of sexuality and creativity. I am Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Grandfather, a fool, sometimes foolish, but not often fooled. A reworking of my curated blogs now joined tediously to try and recover from the censorship and hypocrisy of the bulwarks of corporate mentality. The overt raw sexuality postponed or moved to the side for the mythic unicorn of universal appeal of the imaginary safe post. Look, like, and enjoy no longer stated explicit for the imagery. If you’re here you’re here. Better here than viewing death, horror, starvation in the real world.
