We've been using our ScanNCut machines for a number of years now and we have a lot of mats all in varying stages of stickiness. Hey, it's part and parcel of owning a ScanNCut. Honestly, though, I figure that I am already saving money since I don't have to pay for additional dies with this machine. So buying a new mat every now and then doesn't phase me. Even so, we like to find ways to extend the life of the mat and as a result, we are yet to throw any away. We still have the original we got
We recently purchased a Brother Scan n Cut Universal Pen Holder and promptly set about testing a number of different pens to see what worked and what didn't. I have to admit, that initially, I was doubtful that very many of the pens we have on hand would actually work with it. Well, we were pleasantly surprised because we found that a number of our pens not only worked but they worked extremely well. So with this in mind, we decided to write up a blog post so that our readers who either own the universal pen holder or are thinking of

Layered paper diorama capturing a blustery early fall day at Multnomah falls in Oregon's Columbia Gorge. The original painting was hand painted using gouache paint on Legion watercolor paper, scanned, then printed as an archival giclee reproduction. I then cut and embellished the reproduction and assembled this layered diorama in a wooden box to capture a little snippet of magical adventures for your home. The box is flat on the back and intended to sit on a shelf, it is not prepared to be hung on a wall. (c) Lizzy Gass 2022-3 All rights remain with artist.

Based in Santa Catarina, Brazil, collage artist Marcelo Monreal's work is going viral for his different take on inner beauty. His latest works cut open the portraits of celebrities in Photoshop, super models and other faces of pop culture that are otherwise stagnant, to reveal beautiful blooms underneath. Monreal's use of floral motifs stems (no pun intended) from his first job as an artist, developing embroidery for a label factory. His imagery is in a similar vein to that of the spliced vintage photographs of Matthieu Bourel, covered here, and Rocío Montoya's manipulated, experimental photos. While his subjects are uniquely contemporary, Monreal shares the same sense of bizarre humor that combines the morbid with abstracted glamour.

Working with ink, paper, leaves, scissors, and other materials, Atlanta-based graphic designer Matthias Brown (previously) loves to experiment with rotoscoping and other traced animations that he shares on his Tumblr, Traceloops. Each animation is physically drawn, cut, carved and scanned frame-by-frame to create what you see here. Brown has also lent his design sense to a host of brands including Tate Modern, Converse, MTV and others, and you can get lost in more of his trippy animations here. More
