Tetsuo II: Body Hammer (1992), directed by Shinya Tsukamoto, is the sequel to the cult classic Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989). The film follows Taniguchi (Tsukamoto himself), a mild-mannered man who transforms into a weaponized cyborg after his son is kidnapped by a violent gang. Unlike the first film’s gritty black-and-white aesthetic, Body Hammer is shot in color, offering a more action-driven narrative while retaining the original’s themes of body horror, industrialization, and human transformation. It’s a visceral, surreal exploration of rage and dehumanization.
