When you point your camera at a random thing on the street, you usually don’t expect much. But in the vast sea of dull photos that fill your camera roll, one stands out. Call it a miracle, or a lovely surprise, but if you feel like the pic is superior in composition, style, lighting, and somewhat resembles a classical painting, it may be that you have just encountered “accidental renaissance.”

Quiet Meadow is one of my favorite bundles from Stampin' Up's, new, 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I thought the images would be beautiful in sepia. But, what is sepia? This is what Siri tells
One of the things I could not wait to get my hands on from the new 2021-2022 Stampin' Up Annual catalog were the Layering Diorama Dies! How cool are these? I thought they had so much potential and I am glad I finally got them out. This card was supposed to be for a Color Challenge for one of the many card challenges out there. But I just forgot about posting it! The color challenge was for Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya. I hadn't really thought of making my ocean 'pale Papaya before this challenge, which is the

While indulging myself with some free craft time after completing the cutting of next week's class kits, and completing a card for another challenge, I rolled with the flow and turned to Just Add Ink for further inspiration. When I looked at the image, I saw one of the new In-Colours, Pale Papaya, and ran with that along with a touch of Bumblebee. I've also included two of the other new In-Colours, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. I reached for what is fast becoming a new go-to set for me: the Quiet Meadow bundle, which is available from 3 May. As the photo had strong vertical lines, I used a strip of Pale Papaya DSP along the edge. I used the 2021-23 In-Colour Stampin' Write markers, and Bumblebee from the 2020-22 collection, to colour the floral image from Quiet Meadow and stamped that. I added some extra tiny flowers in Bumblebee and Pale Papaya, as well as the script stamp, then some splatters in Soft Succulent. The other part of the bundle is the Meadow dies and they are the most amazing floral dies, rather like large silhouettes. I've cut two cornflowers and the fern foliage and sponged them in Bumblebee, Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent and arranged them over the stamped imagery. The sentiment, and sentiment label, are also from the same bundle. To finish, I've added in three of the new In-Colour gems, these ones in Evening Evergreen. All of these products: DSP, stamps, dies and inks, and embellishments will be available from 3 May. 12.17.2021…..Happy Friday, my stampin’ friends! I’m so excited to share my December monthly showcase projects for the Stampin’ Up! 2021 Artisan Design Team! For this month…
at some point in the summer, i shall be moving my studio from what is really meant to be the farm office into the old kitchen...it's over the other side of the house and looks into the front garden which will be rather nice. i'm not sure it's much bigger than the space i'm in now, but it's in the old part of the house and so has high ceilings and a big sash window. i've been pretty indulgent with lighting too so it's shaping up to be a really great room. it also has a mahoosive cupboard that i shall use as strorage and dark room. i'm excited... anyway, i started moving some boxes around (somewhat halfheartedly i have to say) and found these little paper collages i made at the beginning of the year. i've decided to sell them, so if you saw them months ago and liked the look of them, they can be bought at the very affordable price of $20 each (around £12)...just click here to go to my shop! i might even find some extra little goodies for the packages...

What??? Tutorials! Tutorials are everywhere! Artists in Blogland has a monthly "Techniques on Tuesday" tutorial going on. The challenge over at Inspiration Avenue this week is to share a tutorial. Every Tuesday, Kristin Dudish has been doing a tutorial try-out and inviting others to try it too and link up. Carolyn Dube's Gelli Plate class is up and running with lots of great tutorials. So, I decided to do one as well. I love books! As you know, lately I've been loving altering old books. Recently I got a this book: and decided to try the simplest one - the X Book! This was so much fun, and easy to make. The instructions in Alisa's book are very clear and easy to follow, although I do recommend folding and cutting a blank sheet of paper before doing your project. To give you a sense of how user-friendly the book is, here is how Alisa portrays the folding and instructions: Best of all, the book is on sale right now at Amazon! You can see more on Alisa Golden's website and blog. (Here's another You Tube tutorial on the folding process, if you need some more guidance, and a "hands free" one with a slightly different take.) Of course, I had to add my own spin to it -- adding in journaling cards, inclusions and tags... Thank you for visiting! I read and treasure every comment and will answer any questions as quickly as I can. Linking to Paint Party Friday, Art Journal Everyday at Balzer Designs, and Creative Everyday. Hope to get around to visiting everyone this weekend!
