Do you ever scrap about yourself? Are you ever even in the pictures? or are you the one who's always behind the camera? Often times, scrapbookers get so involved in documenting the lives of our kids, and our families, that we forget that someone, someday, might want to know who WE were in 2013! I might even want to look back and see who I was in 2013 :) So, check this out... It's all about you (or your daughter, or friend, or anyone!) -- each page is for a photo and journaling about something that starts with that letter of the alphabet that makes you who you are. What do you like? What do you do? Favorites? Friends names? Family names? For example, my album goes like this: A -- Artsy Albums :) B -- Beach C -- Chocolate D -- Dining out E -- Evening walks F -- Family G -- Georgia etc. 14 6x8 scrapbook pages + 12 6x8 pockets, each one corresponds to a letter of the alphabet for a total of 26 pages) Your kit will even come with some idea prompts to get your A-Z creative juices flowing! This Artsy Albums Kit includes all of the product needed to make this mini album (except tools and adhesive), in addition to step-by-step instructions with color photos of each page. All of the products used in my kits are current or recent release scrapbook supplies by the most popular manufacturers, and always acid and lignin free so these little keepsakes are safe for your photos! The kits are pre-cut and packaged by page -- so easy and so fun! Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. So pleased you came for a visit. I am here to show you what I have created with Kerry-Jean Watson's awesome Sherlock Book Kit. This fabulous Kit is available from Meg's Garden as either a fully printed version or a digital download that you can print for yourself. HERE is the link to see the video of the Book Kit. I am basically a card maker and I was in need of a Crafting Diary to keep track of Birthdays and Anniversaries, etc. and also Design Team Deadlines, and so that is what I decided to make with my Kit. Yes, I do have all that information on my computer, but there is nothing like having it all on hand in a pretty book is there?? For the front cover I did some stamping and stenciling and splashed a little paint around as well before adding the embellies. Most of the embellishments you can see came from Meg's Garden. You can purchase some fantastic 'bundles' that contain beads, ribbons, metal embellies ... everything you could possibly need to beautifully embellish your Kit, and they come in an assortment of colours too!! The film strip frame came from my stash and the photos inside it are actually photos of some of my past projects for Meg's Garden. The quote was found on the net. I wanted to incorporate some craft quotes into this book so you will see the odd one or two scattered around on different pages. The tabs you can see peeking out from the side of the book are part of the Kit. I simply wrote the months on by hand and then glued them to the edge of the journal pages. The book measures 5.75" x 7.75" and all the pages were distressed and inked with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and then glued to sheets of Kraft Cardstock. Punched some holes with my Crop-adile and bound it together with seam binding. The binding was also coloured with Distress Ink in Gathered Twigs and Walnut Stain. Here's a closie of the charms ... ... and another of the quote and the flower cluster. I wanted this book to be more than just a Diary. I also want to use it as an ideas journal so I made a couple of small booklets and some tags in order to record things like interesting sketches, color palettes and great techniques. Making the booklet was very simple. I just cut some kraft cardstock and some plain sheets of paper to the size I wanted, folded them in half and then simply punched two holes in the crease and pulled some twine through and tied it with a bow. I then covered the front of each booklet with some of the paper and used a fancy paper clip to keep them closed. Following are some shots of the embellished pages or you can just go straight down to the end of this post for a walk through video which was made by Kerry-Jean Watson the creator of this awesome Kit. I don't make videos as I don't have the equipment and I am so pleased that Kerry-Jean offered to do one for me. Thank you KJ ... you rock!! ... and this is the back of the book. The gorgeous stains you can see are actually on the paper itself. The only changes I made here was to distress and ink the edges ... Looooovee those stains!! Here is the walk-through video!! I do hope you like my little Diary and that I have inspired you to get one for yourself!! Why not pop over to the Meg's Garden Blog and see what my Teamies created with this awesome Kit. You will be amazed by the variety!! HERE is the link to the blog and HERE is the link to the Shop! Meg's Garden Products used: The Sherlock Book Kit Camel Bundle Sage Burlap Ribbon Seam Binding Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! Take care and God Bless.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this project and love how pretty the album and the suitcase turned out. Here are the tutorials on how they all went together. We first start with the mini album. We made 8 paper bags using the Square Lantern & Gift Bag Die. I show you exactly how to put them together to form the pages. We then made a hard wrapped cover and then added the pages to the binding. Everything is listed down below. We then made the suitcase using my new Suitcase Die Set using the same pape

Good morning, Crafters! I have a sweet, summertime tutorial for you today! If you are trapped inside with the air conditioning roaring, then it's the perfect time to whip up this little cutie! My monthly mini showcases the Authentique Summertime Collection! This is the perfect collection for these hot, humid, end-of-summer days! This summer collection comes with six different sheets and 12 patterns, However, the collection has TWO sheets of cut-aparts, Summertime Five and Summertime Six. If you purchase the paper pad, you get four of each pattern. That is plenty of paper to make this mini album! This mini is 5" tall and 3 1/2" wide (similar to the Meadow Mini Album, shared HERE). There are three pages, with lots of fold-outs and flaps, plus TWO waterfall sections! Let's get started on the tutorial. Cut two pieces of medium weight chipboard to 5" x 3 1/2". Cut one piece of chipboard to 5" x 1". Trim dark blue cardstock to 7" x 10 1/4" and attach the chipboard pieces to the cardstock as shown above. Make sure to maintain a 1/8" gap between the spine piece and the cover pieces of chipboard. Trim the cardstock corners at an angle and attach double-sided adhesive to the tabs. Wrap the chipboard as shown. Gently fold the covers while scoring in the 1/8" gutter (or channel) between the spine and the covers. Trim decorative paper to fit over the center spine section. Do this BEFORE adding your hinge mechanism. DO NOT add paper to your inside covers until AFTER you add your hinge mechanism. Create a hinge mechanism from dark blue cardstock. Cut the cardstock to 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". (The 4 1/4" measurement is the height of the hinge.) Score on the longer side at: 1", 1 1/8", 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 2 7/8", 3 1/8", 3 3/8", 3 1/2". This will make three hinges that are 1/4" all with a 3/8" space between hinges. Attach the hinge to the spine of the book. Line up the scored 1/8" "gutters" on your hinge to the gutters on your album. Gently burnish and fold all your score lines. Trim decorative paper to add to the inside of your covers. Trim three pieces of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and add one piece to each hinge. Glue these "base pages" to the left side of each hinge. (Don't worry. Your decorative papers will cover the other side of the hinge.) Create a waterfall section for the front cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous page. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the first base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap, then the right flap to finish the first base page. Turn the page and work on the BACK of the first base page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 5/8" x 3 1/8" and score on the bottom at 1/4" from the edge. Round the top corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the bottom edge of the BACK of the first base page. Add a pocket to the bottom of the second base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flip the second base page over and work on the BACK. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 5 1/2" and score on the long side at 2" and 5 1/4" from the left edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the second base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the second base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the right flap, then the accordion fold the left flap to finish the second base page Add a pocket to the bottom of the THIRD base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flop the page and work on the BACK of the last page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the third base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the flap to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap to finish the last base page. Create a waterfall section for the inside back cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Now your mini book is ready to decorate! I trimmed a piece of white, adhesive-back canvas to cover the spine of my book. Then, I added the yellow and white dotted paper to the front and back covers. I kept the cover simple by adding a word grid sticker and a bit of pretty ribbon. (The sticker is VERY OLD and I have no idea where it's from!) I double-matted the sticker and added it to a bit of scrap chipboard before gluing it to the cover. I found the cute crab button in my stash and thought he would like to end his days decorating the bow! I used a banner die to cut out the spine decor. I used a Tim Holtz brad to dangle some charms from the spine. (I have a bin of charms and a bin of beads, most of which have been with me since the early 1990's! I add to them from time to time, so I really don't remember where these particular items came from!) I added the fun Summertime papers to the inside sections of my book, and then just added a few stickers and other bits and bobs to decorate each page. The Summertime cut-aparts are the perfect size for my pages... and to fit into the pockets! I have no idea how long I've had some of these stickers! I almost never reach for stickers, but I am happy I still had these in my stash as they worked perfectly for this little book! I found clear stickers, and 3-D sticker, and word art...just a treasure trove! With TWO waterfall features, there is a lot of space for photos and journaling! If you want to see each page, watch my little walk-through video below! I hope you are inspired to beat the heat and make a little end-of-summer mini! Thanks for joining me today! Purchase this tutorial for $1 cheaper on my website: https://www.knicholedesignslimited.com/product-page/harry-potter-suitcase-mini-album-tutorial This listing is for a step-by-step written tutorial with pictures of how to construct the base of the album pictured. It does not include steps for decorating with the Harry Potter papers and embellishments. To see a flip through of the album pages, please visit my YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwYr0_ENHsM ***I often am asked what papers I used to decorate my album pictured. They were digital papers that I purchased from two separate Etsy shops. One shop name is GiaDigitalPaper and the other is DigitalMorning. I don't know if they are still available or not, but you can look them up to see. There was a large selection of digital Harry Potter papers here when I was looking. Supplies Needed: • 2 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 chipboard • 1 pack of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock • 2 Tim Holtz buckles and brads • 4 decorative brads • Score/cutting board • Ruler and pencil • Glue or double sided tape • Scissors • Piercing tool
Hello guys! I finished another shaped mini album. For creating it I used a "Stationer's Desk" paper collection from Prima. ** Can you believe that my post with this album gained over 700 likes in Prima FaceBook Group?! Thank you, everyone who liked it and shared :)** To tell you the truth, I didn't that much like these papers at first, and from the 12" x 12" sheets I bought only 2 pieces of the "Roses Are Red". Since the album measures 8" X 6.5" I had to think about the way for creating the cover and the pages using only these 2 sheets (well, plus a 6" X 6" pad that I also had). The album spine is 3" and there are 6 core pages in the album. For creating 4 of them I used Ginger's tutorial, and another 2 are simple pocket pages with the photo mats inside. Here are just a couple of close-ups: And more of the inside views: I will soon have a tutorial for creating a smaller version of this purse album, so please stay tuned and subscribe to my You Tube Channel if you don't want to miss it. Here's a video preview by the way :) Have a great weekend! Hugs, Alexandra
