When Adol Christin boards the passenger liner Lombardia for an easy voyage across the Gaete Sea, he has no idea this journey will land him shipwrecked on the mysterious Seiren Island, home of an ancient curse that has plagued these waters for millennia. Nor can he possibly imagine that this act of fate will throw him into a battle against primordial powers, set out to destroy the entire human race. Joined by Dana, a powerful young woman from another era, as well as by a handful of the Lombardia survivors, Adol must save his species from extinction, or perish along with everyone he knows. But even if he wins, there is no guarantee that he can ever attain the ultimate prize - a future with Dana. Choosing paint colors for your home can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to the living room. It's a space that is both an intimate setting for your family and a gathering place for your friends. To find your favorite hue among a sea of swatches, St. Louis, Missouri, interior designer Joni Spear advises staying true to the colors you love most. "When it comes to paint colors, I always rule by my heart," says Spear, principal of Joni Spear Interior Design. "You have to be happy in your surroundings." Draw color inspiration from a cherished possession, Spear suggests, like a painting, pillow, rug, or vase. Be sure to view paint samples at different times of day to see how sunlight and ambient light will affect them. Here, Spear, along with other interior designers and paint professionals, offers nine colors that are worth your consideration.

This time of year, late July, I get that little nudge to play with some Seashell Decor. There's a short window of opportunity to do shell decor around here. Early Summer is filled with garden fun, then comes the Patriotic decor. Now's the time before "Pre Fall" starts. So I put together a little vignette on an antique tray in the Dining Room. It's not really "beachy", but more "vintage". I found a few pieces of silver accessories and a jewelry casket, then filled them with small shells. Joining them is a vintage plaster little girl bust from the 60's, a small clock, and an old crystal drop from a chandelier. A glass cylinder hurricane with a small ring of individual shells. Here's the post when I painted this sweet little antique glass tray. French Lessons Here are a couple of posts from a few years ago where I used some other vintage pieces to display my shells. Summertime Seashell Vignette The large Conch Shell in the Blue Willow tureen is a real antique. As long as I could remember it was used at my childhood farmhouse as a door stop for the front door.
