Buy the 221 Adult/Child English Smock sewing pattern from Folkwear. Smocks have been worn by rural labourers as protective overgarments for hundreds of years. The technique of hand-smocking evolved from the way many of these early garments were fitted, sized, and embellished. English smocks were most widely worn during the late 18th century. Today, smocks are favoured by artists, craftspeople, and fashionable folk everywhere. This loose-fitting smock is sized for both men and women, and the Round Smock version is sized for children as well. The Round Smock is mid-calf length and slips over the head. For children, the smock is knee-length. The Smock Frock has a button-front opening and is tunic length. Both versions may be hand-smocked on the front, back, and sleeves, or easily 'mock-smocked' by machine with elastic. Instructions and designs for smocking and embroidery are included in the pattern. This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats: – PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF? – PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?
