Shadow Box Card This is a pretty neat card. It folds flat for mailing, but then pops up once opened and it can stand up. Supply list: Cardstock Rubberstamps Bone folder/Scoring tool Adhesive Popdots Instructions: 1. Cut (2) pieces of cardstock 7.25in X 5.25in. 2. While cardstock is laying horizontally, score at 1/2in and 1in from each edge of cardstock. 3. On only ONE of the two pieces, cut out a center opening. Do not cut this opening too close to the left/right edges, otherwise when you fold your card flat, you will see the folded pieces in your cut out opening. So if you are scoring at ½ in then you want to make sure you have a ½ in space between score line and cut out opening. 4. Fold on score lines. 5. Glue the front to the back on the first folded flap On each side of the card. 6. Embellish card as desired The majority of the materials used in this project are from ClubScrap. TFL DebDuzScrappin
This card was made by Ann Linnett. I really like this shadow box design. It is pretty magical how it transforms from perfectly flat to a pop-out card. And I like how Ann made the panel on the back
With layers of scenery to create depth and dimension, this fold might just be the ultimate in 3D card making. The clever design will even allow the card to collapse to fit into an envelope for posting! 1. To create the base of the card you'll need two 6" squares of card stock, plus one 41/2" x 3/4" and one 41/2" x 1/2" strips of card stock. 2. Place one of the 6" squares of card stock on your score board and score 1" from either side. Repeat with the second 6" square of card stock and fold along the score lines. 3. Cut a window from the middle of one of the 6" squares of card stock. Although the size is up to you, my window measures 3/4" from the top and bottom and 1/2" from either side. If preferred, you could use a cutting die for this step. 4. Add a 6" x 4" piece of patterned or decorated paper between the score lines of the second 6" square of card stock. This will form the background of your scene. (A few of you might remember the aurora background I created a couple of days ago using distress inks and a blending tool... I'm attaching it to the background of my card for a pretty night scene.) 5. Place one of the 41/2" strips horizontally on your score board and score 1/4" from either end. Repeat with the second strip. Fold along the score lines. 6. These two strips will become the structures for holding some of the elements of the card to give the 3D effect. I want mine to look a little like small hills so I'm shaping them gently with a pair of small scissors. Since the strips will be positioned behind the card stock window, there's really no need to cut them any smaller unless you wish to make them part of the design. 7. Add some glue or double sided tape to the tab on the left hand side of the wider strip of card stock. 8. Attach the strip of card stock to the left of the score line, keeping the bottom edge flush with the bottom edge of the card. Before the glue has a chance to dry completely, fold the strip back over the card to make sure everything is lined up. 9. Apply glue to the narrower strip of card stock in the same manner. Position it just to the left of the first strip, again making sure that the edges are flush. 10. Add glue or double sided tape to the tabs on the right hand side of both card stock strips, then fold the card base to the left to secure them in place. 11. You should now have two strips of card stock on which to add your decorative elements. I've fussy cut one of the images from the new A Drover's Life digital set as well as some hand cut cactus plants and a rough stone outcrop. For lots of depth, remember to add smaller elements to the background as though they are off in the distance. 12. Add the smallest elements directly onto the background with glue or tape, then build up the scene by adding larger elements to each of the card stock strips. I used some glue at the base of my cactus plants and on the hoofs of the horse. 13. To frame the scene, I added some large cactus plants on either side of my window. 14. To complete the card, add glue on the inside of the two outer panels of the card front. Adhere the card front to the outside of the two outer panels of the card base, overlapping the 1" sections. I hope you'll give this fabulous card fold a go, it's really not too difficult to achieve. Have fun! Stamps:

Do you love making shadow box cards? Are you totally over the fiddly measuring and cutting? Four words - shadow box card die! Come see!
Happy Sunday and merry almost Christmas! Four more days! Can you believe it? How in the world did it get here so fast. It's like we went from December 1st to the 21st with nothing in between! I have a little more wrapping to do today, and some baking to do for our Christmas eve party, but other than that, I think I'm ready :) I just love this time of year. So in-between the Holiday rushiness, I have managed to get in my craft room a bit. I saw a super neat shadow box card by Lori Whitlock here and I thought, wouldn't it be fun to do that with dies! Oh yeah! So I fiddled and fumbled around until I came up with something I liked. I stamped the background with a Hero Arts stamp then built the shadow box up using the stitched dies from Lawn Fawn. I cut three white panels with the largest die and cut the centers out with the smaller descending rectangles. I mounted each of those with foam tape adding the trees on the layer closest to the background, then the snowflake on the next layer up. I added the peace sentiment on the very top layer. This was a really fun card to create and my mind is off and running with this idea! So many fun things you could do with this! Supplies: Stitched Rectangles-Lawn Fawn Snowy hills border- My Favorite Things Snowflakes- Taylored Expressions Peace- Papertrey Ink Background stamp- Hero Arts Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you all are enjoying the holidays! Hugs, Kay :)

Hello stampers. Have you ever forgotten something? Well I have had this card sitting in the wings for almost a year!! I made it, meant to blog about it and do a class on it and then it never happened. Until today! This is a shadowbox card, or at least, that is what I am calling it. I love that from the outside it looks like an ordinary card, but when you open it you get a surprise. I have made a small photo tutorial and a video to show you how it is done. Then it's your turn! Hi all, I'm here today to share my first DT creation for Papermill Direct. I decided to do something a little different and make a shadow box/diorama card. These are so simple to make but so effective. I know we are all aware of postage cost and that's the great thing about these cards. They offer dimension but can be posted flat. For my card I used: 2 pieces of ivory linen card 14.5 cm x 21 cm 1 piece of black card 14.5cm x 13 cm Scoreboard or ruler and scoring tool Die or something to draw around to cut an aperture Stamps or digital images Adhesive The first step is to stamp or print your image /verse onto the centre of 1 of the pieces of Ivory Linen card I also made a digital frame and printed the sentiment I will be using for the front of my card onto the second piece where the aperture will be cut in order to save card. Now cut your aperture in the centre of the second piece of ivory Linen. Here I am using a nestability circle die but if you have a steady hand you could draw around a cup etc and cut by hand. Then do the same with the black piece of card. Now using either a score board or ruler and embossing tool score both pieces of ivory card at 2cm and 4cm as shown below Crease the side tabs like this Adhere the black piece of card into the centre back and adhere the side tabs so you end up with this. Decorate as you wish! There are so many possibilities with these cards. You could add acetate to the centre aperture which you could make in any shape and add a spray of glitter or add patterned papers or decoupage your image to give a real 3d look. The image and sentiment used for my project are available from The Digi Stamp Boutique HERE Thank you for stopping by today Kerry

Good morning! Today I have a shadow box made using the Woodsy Woodland stamps and dies from Heartfelt Creation. From straight on Another peek Cover inside back of shadow box with a piece of 6 1/8 X 6 1/8” paper and one for the front 6 1/8 X 6 1/8” paper (cutting away center to match opening of box), from the Woodsy collection and cut smaller pieces to fit sides and top 7/8 X 6 1/8”. Glue all pieces in place and sponge edges with Tea Dye ink. Stamp, die cut and Copic color all woodsy critters, landscape pieces and wonderland pieces. Working in layers from the front, piece together scene on a base of green cut with the Fleur border Basics-non decorative edge (cut 4 bases altogether from green). Piece together each layer using the base piece as ground and placing object so that they can best be seen. On the last layer (with the deer) add double thickness of foam tape to the backs of deer and trees so that they will stand up away from back paper scene. I glued each layer on before putting my box together and after securing the inside accordion tabs to the two fold in flaps just to make sure they stayed apart. After everything was thoroughly dry I put my box together and then glued my front scene to the face of the shadow box. Form and shape flowers and branch (from Birds and Blooms) and cut out extra flowers to make double blooms and to make the extra buds and bloom added to the branch, then add Marigold Prills to the centers and glitter to the petals. Cut branch apart in one place and glue both pieces on the top of box front, then glue cardinal (from Woodsy Critters) to the top of branch. Add Prills to the bottom of box front for flowers, Stickles to stamped flowers, and Glossy Accents to eyes of critters Looking down Another side view to see a bit more Materials: Heartfelt Creations 6 X 6 Fold Out Cards Woodsy Wonderland paper, Woodsy Critters Woodsy Wonderland Woodsy Landscapes Woodsy Critters dies Woodsy Wonderland dies Woodsy Landscape dies Birds and Blooms Birds and Blooms dies Fleur Border Basics Prills-Mango, Lavender, Pink Glossy Accents Stickles Glitter-clear Distress ink- Tea Dye, Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn Foam tape Hope you have enjoyed taking a peek at my shadow box.
