" Waking up suddenly to notice one person in your group missing, flashlight in hand you go down to the basement to investigate the noise which woke you up."

Recent commission of a scene in a tabletop RPG: a player character is pulled to a mysterious, dark place in which the main light sources are three massive sigils of magical fire, three ancient gods that seem to look down on the tiny creature that trespasses on their realm... Because seriously, who left the door to our demiplane open again? It's the third mortal who arrived here in the past aeon or so, it's basically an infestation at this point. Can someone call human control? Oh, wait, nevermind, these things have super short lifetimes. It's probably dead already.
