No new products today – just some great examples of how you can create beautiful projects where the die-cuts are the stars of the show. I had fun creating backgrounds to show off the Friendly Silhouettes Dies. Let me walk you through them. For these first two projects, I masked a circle using a punched/die-cut sticky note, then brayered the background using Crushed Curry and Poppy Parade ink pads. You could sponge, too – but if you do, make sure you sponge away from the centre of the mask or you could dislodge it. For the top card, I then lightly splashed with water from a fine paintbrush. Allow to dry, then dab it dry with a tissue. This creates this lovely effect which can look like seed heads blowing on the breeze, fireflies, rain or, on a dark blue background, like snow. It’s such a simple effect and so versatile. For this card, I brayered as before, but instead of splashing, I used that same very fine paintbrush to paint fine lines following the edge of the circle. With ideas clearly way above my station, I call this the Van Gogh technique. For the third card, I took the leftover template from the bullrushes in the first card and used this as a mask. I sponged with Pumpkin Pie to create a background image, then removed the mask and brayered around the top edge of the card in Melon Mambo. The beauty of brayering is that you can give it a go in any colours and get some lovely effects. Want to have a go at fun techniques like this? Once I start playing with our Pigment Sprinkles I can't stop! I love to try different color combinations and playing the more or less water to get totally different looks. See what I mean? Here's a link to the Pigment Sprinkles in my online store. I've found that watercolor paper works best for a smooth finish. But shimmer paper also works fairly well. To finish these cards I added some die-cuts from the Sweet Silhouettes and Friendly Silhouettes dies. The...
It's time to meet My Favorite Things newest Card Kit--Flower Silhouettes. Here's a sneaky peek a the kit. Visit today's post at My Favorite Things for a detailed description of the kit's contents. The Flower Silhouettes Card Kit will go on sale Tuesday, April 23rd at 10AM EST in the MFT Store. For today's project, I stamped the flowers as true silhouettes. I masked off a portion of a panel with Post-it tape, then ink distressed several colors and spattered some water over the surface. After the panel dried I stamped the flowers with Extreme Black ink and finished off the card with the stamped sentiment and black sequins. The panel was popped up on a white card base with dimensional tape. Since the stamps were still on the door of the Misti, I decided to make a second card with different colors and a different sentiment. Cards can be quickly mass produced with the silhouette images and a sentiment can be added as needed, depending on the occasion, or simply left off altogether. Visit today's Card Kit post for more inspiration using this kit and leave a comment there for a chance to win prizes!

Quiet Meadow Silhouette Cards I have seen so many gorgeous cards made using this layout and I just had to make some as well! This is such a simple layout. I simply used Balmy Blue Card Stock as my card base. Either landscape or portrait orientation. Then I cut another piece of Balmy Blue C/S measuring 5 1/4" x 4". I embossed it using the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder and attached it to the card base. I die cut some Basic Black C/S scalloped circles using the Layering Circles Dies. Then I die cut circles using the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper and attached them to the Basic Black C/S scalloped circles. Attach them to the card using Dimensionals. Die cut some floral sprigs from the Quiet Meadow Dies using Basic Black C/S and on one card I also used a Balmy Blue C/S floral sprig. Attach them to the circles. For the sentiments, on one card I stamped directly onto the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper using Memento Black Ink and on the other card I added a separate sentiment strip. I used the Quiet Meadow Stamp for the sentiments. Add some Rhinestones if you would like and that's it! Simple right? The best part is you can earn the Simply Marbleous Designer Series Paper for free during our 2022 Sale-A-Bration promotion! Hello there! I'm back today with a card with sunset background, that I created for two fun card challenges!...
Morning everyone how's your week going? It's Wednesday already so halfway through the week. Today's project is using two Stampin Up sets Papillon Potpourri and the coordinating punch and the Serene Silhouettes. I love creating interesting backgrounds and building a scene. I took a circle mask and then with so saffron crisp cantaloupe & crumb cake created s subtle scene. Using the flower silhouette in black I stamped outside the circle to draw the eye into the scene and then added the butterflies flying through from the bottom to the top. This card is beautiful for any occasion but with Mother's Day approaching I thought this would be ideal. I hold regular workshops/classes from my home in Farnham Surrey where you can learn these techniques so please get in touch [email protected]. There will be a couple more classes in March to take advantage of the freebies on offer. Classes fill up quickly so don't hesitate. This is probably one of my favourite techniques as I love the 3D effect of this card. All the products used are available through Stampin Up the link is at the top of the page and when ordering please use me Jane Allmark as your demonstrator of choice. Thanks so much.
The first time I saw the stamp set Serene Silhouettes in the catalog I knew I'd be making plenty of cards using it and that's exactly what happened. Since it's one of the sets on the retiring list I thought I'd look at all the cards I created using this set. Some I really like and others (I have to admit) I don't know what I was thinking?! lol Anyway I hope you'll take a trip down memory lane with me for a little bit... If you don't have this set yet and would like to purchase it before it's gone click on one of the links below... Some of the cards I created that I threw into a collage. To see the rest keep on scrolling. :) All the cards are in no particular order. If you have any favorites I'd love to hear what you like! As I was looking through them I kept thinking, "Oh, that's my favorite one!" then another would pop up and I'd think the same thing. I will post my favorite one for you last because I do have a favorite even though there are a lot of close seconds, and I posted those randomly throughout. :) This was a close second. This is one of the first cards I created with the set. This is one of my close seconds. :) This is one of my close seconds. :) This is one of my close seconds. :) This is one of my close seconds. :) This is the last of one of my close seconds. Yes, this is my favorite card. :) Did you have a favorite? Thanks for looking and have a great day! Sara I would love to be your demonstrator! If you like what you see and want to order anything just click on any of the products that I've listed at the bottom of my blog or click on the "Shop Now" tab at the top of my blog. Happy Monday - I hope you had a great weekend! Lately I am finding myself in need of sympathy cards more often and thought I would create one for this week's Quick & Easy card. If you've been following my blog for any amount of time, I am sure you have figured out how much I love sponging with a solid image stamp, and this week's card features this technique. I chose to use the tree image from the Serene Silhouette stamp set and sponged using a color palette of blues - pool party, island indigo and night of navy. I decided to go with a circle cut with my Big Shot and the Circles collection framelits for the sponged...
Hello stampers. I love silhouette stamps. They remind me of being a kid for some reason. Silhouette Scenes is a fantastic set that is also available as a bundle with Sweet Silhouettes dies. The dies include a leafy tree branch, a dandelion and three words: inspire, forever and adventure. The silhouettes are a girl pointing to the sky, a boy with a toy airplane, a girl on a swing and a boy looking into binoculars. I used the new shimmer black embossing powder and I really like the look of it. The first card is an early espresso
Hello! It's release day at Gina K Designs and all the illustrators are blog hopping to share a few more peeks at our new stamp sets. I'm sharing a card with my new set, By The Sea 2. This set and all the new stamp sets and products will be live at the online store at 7pm Central time. I'll share all the details for my card below, but for now, be sure to check out all the wonderful creations the rest of the team has to show you… Gina K Becky Oehlers Beth Silaika Carolyn King Debbie Corbari Melanie Muenchinger Tami Mayberry To make my card, I started by cutting and scoring Pure Luxury white card stock to form a 4 ¼ by 5 ½ inch card base. I cut a circle from a piece of scratch paper to create a mask, then I held the mask in place, on the card front, using low tack tape. Next, I sponged a new Gina K Ink Color, Sweet Corn! Then sponged another new color, Sweet Mango, just around the edges. I inked up the heron silhouette image, with the new Gina K Black Onyx ink pad, using a sticky note to keep ink off the stump. I removed the mask from the card front and the mask from the inked up stamp, then stamped the heron right over the sun. After stamping the heron, I stamped the pampas grass. Then I stamped the smaller grass, using Gina K Honey Mustard ink, stamped off once on scratch paper. Next, I used some Copic markers (N3, N5 and N7) to shade below the scene. Stamped the word "Always" using Gina K Black Onyx. Then stamped "In my heart" using Gina K Honey Mustard. All the images are from my new set, By The Sea 2 and will be available tonight at 7pm Central, along with all the new ink pads and stamp sets from all the illustrators. The release party also starts at 7pm at StampTV. There will be contest questions, challenges and lots of wonderful samples from the design team. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a fun day!
July 16, 2015 Card Class Hot Trend- Stencils / Masks Stencils (or masks) are a hot trend in the paper crafter's world right now. Better late than never....I have a card for this week's ColourQ. I really love these colors together, and am glad I finally had a chance to whip something up. I used PTI Script Swirls Birthday stamped in black for my focal point, sponged over it with Distress Abandoned Coral, and then added some splatter stamps in Delicata Gold. Really only took moments to make, once I had a chance to sit down and get started. I am also linking this up at AAA Cards #65 where they are celebrating their 2nd birthday, Simon Says Monday Make a Wish, and Seize the Birthday (no toppings). This week's Make it Monday #250 is all about masked backgrounds, and Laurie has a great video about it. I masked off a section of my card and sponged Hibiscus Burst, Bright Buttercup and Orange Zest inks in the open space. I stamped an image from Larger than Life--one of my very earliest PTI purchases--I'd say I've had these stamps for at least 5 years--and I am entering this card at Retro Rubber #39: May Flowers. I am also entering this card at Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes. Thanks for Visiting

Dynamic Duos is celebrating their 1st anniversary! In honor of this big event, they have invited us to use any of their Past Colour Combos! Here's my choice. And the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week is FLOWER POWER! This is a card that we did for a sponging class back when this challenge was called. I missed the deadline and didn't get it posted then. The layout was inspired by this card by Mary T. (jandjccc) posted at SCS. The flower image was first stamped in Whisper White and heat embossed with white. Wisteria Wonder was sponged around the embossed design. Then the flower was stamped again in Concord Crush. Such an easy technique with a powerful impact. All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted Card Recipe Stamps: Serene Silhouettes Ink: Whisper White Craft, Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush Paper: Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, Concord Crush Other: White EP, Scallop Trim Corner Punch (soon to be retired) Glad you could stop by! Enjoy!
WOW, talk about a quick card. I think it took me longer to gather the "stuff" to make this card than it did to stamp it and put it together...

Hello! It's day three of previews for Gina K Designs and today we have two more stamp sets to share with you. First is a gorgeous new set from Nina Brackett, called Hugs and Prayers. I love the elegant style of these images! (step by step photos below) Next is the new card kit set from Gina K, called Seeds of Kindness. This set has beautiful plant images, along with coordinating sentiments, and, for a month, it will come with a free card kit! I colored the African Violet with Copics and then cut it out. The designer paper is from the DCWV pack, called Latte. For even more samples with the stamp sets being previewed today, check out these designer's links: Gina Krupsky *illustrator of Seeds of Kindness Jessica Fick *creator of Seeds of Kindness Card Kit Nina Brackett *illustrator of Hugs and Prayers Theresa Momber Melanie Muenchinger Cathy Tidwell Lee Murphy Carolyn King Donna Baker Kurtis Amundson Bev Gerard Colleen Schaan Valerie Stangle Emily Giovanni Erika Martin Janice Whiting *Seeds of Kindness Guest Designer Sankari Wegman Asela HopkinsWe'd also like to invite you to attend our Release Party this Thursday, July 1st starting at 7 pm central on StampTV! There will be challenges, contest questions, and more samples from our designers on all the new stamp sets being released this month! We'd love to have you join in on the fun! To make the background for the Hugs and Prayers card, I first sponged a bit of Memento Cantaloupe ink near the bottom, using my Jumbo Sponge Dauber. Next, I sponged some Memento Angel Pink around the Cantaloupe (sorry, I didn't get a photo of that step). Then I sponged Memento Summer Sky all around and blending into the pink. Sponged Memento Danube Blue. I tore the end from Post-it Notes and used them to mask the top, so I could sponge the foreground with Memento Tuxedo Black. I stamped the gorgeous silhouette flowers, from Hugs and Prayers, using Tuxedo Black. The sentiment is also from Hugs and Prayers. Here is a peek at the photo I used as inspiration for this card. Thanks for coming by. More previews tomorrow and then the release party on Thursday! Have a great day!
