Sunday morning I played around with new stones thinking they were going to be grey but perhaps because it is the bleak mid-winter the stones turned a warmer colour. This piece is inspired by Mark's paintings of stones disappearing under water. He is brilliant at that. For both of us scenes like this bring up whisperings of summers spent on beautiful Georgean Bay. For those of you in Toronto don't forget The Artist Project at the Better Living Centre February 21-14, 2019 Mark Berens will be at Booth 506. Strips of plant dyed fabrics soon to become rocks. By Sunday evening I was happily couching away. I have based the background onto an old blanket and it is like stitching butter. The one thing about this kind of stitching is it allows for mind wandering and as I stitched these delicious rusts and browns my mind whispered memories of my beautiful Rusty Pups They are dearly missed As are their antics and adventures. And then as I prepared this post A photo demanded to be noticed So much like my new stones. I have a teacher who always says the piece you start next should always be informed by the last piece you did. Perhaps this means my next piece will have to be seaweed in the colours of my Georgean Bay stones. But I already have soooo many new beginnings just started! But my mind is flowing with ideas on how to go about a seaweed piece. It is so easy to have many ideas isn't it The days just aren't long enough for their execution! I hope you have a day rich in creative ideas.

The Tetons are probably America's most easily recognized mountains, a row of peaks shaped like shark's teeth. (Note that the Tetons were named for their resemblance to something else, but that is because it was men, no doubt starved for female companionship, who did the naming.) Bounded by steep faults in the rock, the mountains rise sharply along the western edge of Wyoming's Jackson Hole valley. Teton sunset from Mormon Row Hikers who venture into Paintbrush, Cascade, Garnet, Avalanche, and Death Canyons, the main routes into Grand Teton National Park's back country, quickly find themselves amid enormous boulder fields with canyon walls towering up on both sides. Although some of the hikes are daunting, gaining thousands of feet of elevation over only a few miles, spectacular scenery and easy proximity to the road naturally draw many hikers. Hanging Canyon The west side of the range is a very different story. Most of the trailheads are miles beyond the highway, at the ends of poorly maintained gravel roads. The trails themselves tend to be much gentler, climbing open slopes that reflect the underlying westward dipping rocks. Along the trail towards Grizzly Creek Last month I spent five days on this gentle side of the Tetons as part of a geology field trip. Beginning at Coyote Meadows trailhead we hiked up Bitch Creek to the uppermost reaches of Grizzly Creek, just outside Grand Teton National Park (GTNP). It was a lovely spot, though thankfully it didn't live up to its name. No bears, grizzly or black. Our second camp, about five miles south of the first, was a greater challenge to reach as the trail crossed over two steep ridges and several times disappeared entirely in lush meadows. Picking it up again took sharp eyes and good map skills. The difficulty in finding the trail reflects just how little frequented this area is. Not counting a few people very close to the trailhead, I didn't see a single person outside of our group for the entire five days. Another advantage of being on the west side of the range is seeing dramatic sunsets over the plains of Idaho. But best of all are the enormous high meadows that, even in late summer, are filled with wildflowers. For an even tamer side to the Tetons, here is my now completed quilt made with vintage blocks that I acquired at a Jackson Hole garage sale years ago. I finished piecing it last summer, but waited until I was a little more sure of my skills with a long arm machine before attempting to quilt it. The blocks were foundation pieced (by hand and by machine) so the finished quilt has a little more heft to it than most quilts. As I mentioned last summer, I used vintage scraps to complete the blocks. The funny thing now is that I can't positively identify all of the pieces I added.

Obsessed with beauty. Obsessed with Adam Levine much to the dismay of my husband. Obsessed with food, especially coffee, cake and cupcakes. Love fashion but if I don't move my arse off Tumblr I won't be able to fit in my clothes. I easily fall in love with words - perhaps that's why I love music and books so much. Beautiful words just gets me in a state of bliss. I am saved. I have a very juvenile sense of humor. I belong in Never Land because I'm still waiting to grow up into a mature adult.

Why Aren't Our Friends This Creative When They Greet Us At The Airport
These moments from history deserve a closer look...and nothing brings out the true life of these moments in time than color. So we hand picked a collection of once black and whites, now in vibrant color. Warning, these rarely seen photos are not suitable for all audiences. While these gorgeous colorized photos of the past are definitely a must-see, not all of the stories are fit for consumption, so proceed with caution. Black and white definitely didn't do these photos justice...

The Hana Tank + Dress Pattern features the bias binding method of finishing the neckline and armholes. While this method is a great scrap buster, the first few times you try it might be frustrating. It takes practice and a little patience to make sure all those seams lay flat with no puckering.

Succes!
This is a paper sewing pattern Each item includes an image of a paper pattern. The image is meant to show the type of paper you will receive and how it’s been cut. To assure the best fit possible, please refer to my INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS by copying and pasting the following address into your browser: http://contrapunt.weebly.com/taking-measurements.html Once you’ve taken your measurements, please paste them into the “Note” box on the Order page. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ How to choose a STANDARD SIZE? I can make standard sizes S, M, L, or XL with small adjustments to better fit you. Sizes are a tricky issue, and there aren’t any hard and fast rules, but I’d say my list of sizes is more European than American. To assure the best fit possible, please refer to my INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS by copying and pasting the following address into your browser: http://contrapunt.weebly.com/taking-measurements.html The best way to know your size is to take some measurements of yourself and use them to gauge your size. I can also modify a pattern to better fit your measurements. For example: You choose size S (Europe 40-42). If your body is closer to the first number, 86 (Upper bust/Torax 86-88 cm), than the second, 88, please tell me. Otherwise, the pattern will be the standard size S of between 86-88 cm for the upper bust. .~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ All sizes, both standard, and custom can be modified to your liking (for example, waist higher or lower; skirt longer, shorter, wider, narrower, etc.). A dress can be made as either one or two pieces as a blouse and skirt, for instance. Please specify any of these alterations by email, or at the bottom of the form “Taking measurements”.
