John and Lauren are two wonderful individuals, but together they clearly make each other better. Both were a little nervous as they got ready to see each other one one of the prettiest days of the year, but their expressions and excitement at the first look were all worth the wait. They instantly relaxed, completely confident in their choice of their forever partner. Lauren’s smile could not have been bigger, and John treated her like the princess she is all day long. The Smithfield Winery is one of the best wedding venues in Hampton Roads. The modern but rustic interior makes everything and everyone look instantly gorgeous, and beautiful natural light flows in from all angles. Everly After Events made the space absolutely perfect, with elegant florals, copper chargers, and cute little touches like a fun DIY photobooth and dog treat bags for guests with furry family members at home. If the day was beautiful the night was even more so, twinkle lights and all. We rescheduled for everything from bad weather to last-minute news that he was heading to Charleston, but the day finally came for Kenny and Mackenzie's engagement session and it couldn't have been more beautiful. A thin layer of clouds provided soft light, but the sunset that came at the end lit the sky on fire. After spending time with Kenny and Mackenzie, it is apparent to me that they have refined the art of accepting each other for who they are. It's so important in any relationship to embrace the things that make you similar and learn to love the things that are the opposite, and these two have done just that. They may have different interests and completely different jobs but their goal is the same - to love each other and build a life together...
While I love all the pomp and circumstance of a wedding day, there's nothing quite like an intimate elopement that makes me fall in love with photography all over again. Xavier and Karen wanted a simple, sweet ceremony that only involved their closest family as they began their journey together. They chose a private house in Smithfield at Cypress Creek Golf Course as the backdrop for a beautiful ceremony. Each moment of their day was so special, but my favorite part is the way these two looked at each - with full excitement, joy, and love for each other. They incorporated sweet moments into their ceremony that would truly be memorable.
