I have an Imaginarium Designs project to share today. Actually it's for tomorrow, but it's already tomorrow in Australia, so here you go! For those of you looking to buy the Imaginarium Designs Chipboard, visit HERE for information. These chippies are NOT yet available in the USA, but hopefully they will be soon! Here is my layout for today. What I love about being on this team is that I get to just "let it all hang out" in the creativity department. I can use whatever products I desire, as long as I use the ID chipboard. I had myself a blast with this Paris-themed layout! I created a project with many layers, including a pocket. The long rectangle piece on the left side...that is Prima packaging! It was too pretty to toss, so I inked it up and used it! To create the butterfly (IDS0001) and Paris word (IDW0002), I painted the chipboard with white acrylic paint. Then I sprayed the chipboard with Goosebumps Texture Spray. Once the spray dried, I inked with chalk ink. I really had fun cutting out bits and pieces from Graphic 45 and 7 Gypsies papers, plus digging into my stash of flowers for just the right buds to accent my page! All the pink works great with the photo - which my husband took, and he framed those roses perfectly! So pretty! I created some contrast by adding bits of black here and there. To make the scrolls, I used a frame (IDT0006), and cut it apart. I then inked it with black ink. Love the using black with the cream, kraft, and pink. This layout reminds me of an old fashioned scrapbook or memo board. Photos and odds and ends. Romantic and soft and vintage. Thanks for looking. Make sure to hop over to the Imaginarium Designs Blog to see what the other designers have been making! Union Jack quilt pattern - kind of a Cath Kidston meets Andy Warhol look with Union Jack flags in a variety of red, white, and blue combinations.
Hi Everyone! If you live here in America, and maybe other places in the world, you probably had a more difficult time than usual waking up on time this morning. Yes, it is the weekend we all dislike--the dreaded time change in which we all lose one hour. I would say that the opposite weekend, in the fall, is everyone's favorite! And while I know that the time changed early Sunday morning, let's face it--it doesn't really impact people until Monday morning. Twice I have lived where the time doesn't change--in Arizona and most recently Hawaii, and I really didn't notice much difference with the daylight, so I'm not sure why we feel the need to "save" it. At any rate, at least it is a sign of spring and maybe the cold weather will go away now. Today I'm going to share more quilt pictures from Midatlantic. Tomorrow I will share some of the goodies that I bought, as I had a request for that. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I photographed the show this year, there was certainly no rhyme or reason to it. I didn't even take pictures of the best quilts! Probably I was too engrossed in them to take a picture. I also took many pictures of the quilting. I guess that is the technique that I'm most interested in right now. Here are some of them. The picture above and below are of the same quilt. It is hand quilted. The stitches were so tiny that you didn't even notice them--just the "puff" that they create. Below my finger is as close to the quilt as I could get without touching it--for scale. More and more I am amazed at how the quilting can totally change a quilt top. And consequently, more and more I'm less happy with getting tops "all over quilted." Since we aren't millionaires, though, I will continue to get them done that way, but I do like to get special quilts custom-quilted occasionally. Midatlantic is probably like many major shows--it features the entered, show quilts, and then other exhibits. My favorite quilts in this show were from one of those exhibits. The Baltimore Applique Society had a group of quilts in an exhibit titled "A for Applique." They were gorgeous! The quilt below began, as I interpreted, from a commercial pattern, but the artist added to it, creating a tribute to Texas--featuring long-horn cattle, armadillos... ...and even the creep-crawlies like this perfect, hairy, rendition of a tarantula. There were also centipedes, snakes, and even cockroaches. This one below was my favorite. The applique is incredible. I have two closeup pictures of blocks so you can get the full impact. I suppose I have over-loaded this post with enough photos for now, so I'll end. Have a great day! JoAnne

Topic 11: Hidden Objects Hi everyone, Leandra here Well this is a bit of tricky topic isn't it! For a start, how can we show pictures of things that are 'hidden' ??? Well we do love a challenge, and I have plenty of images, and even though there is no video from me this week, I have sourced 2 other videos for you to watch to get your heads ticking...more of that in a bit For now, as you might be aware, we are currently up in the north of England at the Stamp magic show in Doncaster. No doubt by now we are hopefully packed up and driving home, but the upshot of our activity is that there is no one around to draw the challenge winner, so we will announce it here tomorrow. So very sorry for the anticlimax, but do check back this time tomorrow by which time Darcy will have updated this post to announce who has won! Darcy here... What a great topic to explore bottles was ...who knew so much could be done with bottles. I can see a lot less bottles going out in the recycling box now. From tiny accent bottles to large vases and garden lanterns, textured paper vases and some fantastic paint effects. Well done everyone! Sooooo, the winning name from Topic 10:Bottles..goes to...Georgina Ford from Kaardvark So....it's Leandra back with you tonight to explore Hidden Objects. First up this really caught my eye...technically its not hidden...but the words on the page infer that it is, and that's good enough for me..you can see more pictures here on the flickr feed In the same vein...is it hidden...isn't it?? I don't mind, but there are pockets involved, and transparent or not, they still fit the vibe! I love this idea, and really great if you have collected holiday mementos for example. Another one for the is-it-hidden-or-isn't-it category, I do love a bit of a glassine envelope! With the vintage theme, this piece it looks stunning! This is exactly what I had in mind fro this topic...stealth journalling..and I love how these sleeves are custom-made as are the tags inside! It's the brainchild of Michelle Ward, and if you go here to the post, it's part of her Crusade Series, you will found a downloadable printable, and more instructions on the rest of the project and process. I love Michelle's use of colour and composition, well worth a look! So this is another wrapped up item...in fact if you go to the post, you will see they have tied up all kinds of objects! I like that not only are the items hidden below...well almost! But if you go to the post, there are boxes etc tied up with no access allowed, and no sense of what is inside. So you can wrap in all kinds of ways! This next example is from Robin-Marie Smith, circa 2010! Again, it's a simple pocket with hidden contents, journalling style. There is a wealth of colour, texture on her blog, I adore her style, so cheerful and full of sunshine. Here's an actual book made from envelopes. I have heaps of these, they are quite dinky in size, and great if you want to keep special things or vintage items a bit more private. Here's the link to the post. And here is another idea, this is from a French blog, and there are several ideas using a correspondence theme for travel journalling/ scrapping. I love how she has used airmail envelopes to scrapbook onto, it looks so cool around the edges! Check out the post here from some more fabulous ideas! Here is another pocket style idea... ...with an instructional video ...And the cousin to pockets is of course flaps I found this one from a Faber Castell Blog Hop. It's mail art and boy that takes me back! We used to send mail art regularly way back when...like over a decade ago!! It's so much fun as the recipient gets very excited about how beautiful the outside looks, so they are itching to see what is inside! Perhaps you might like to send something to somebody this week, and decorate the envelope? Now this one is a bit different... Crafty Dogma on Flickr has created a collage, but the face is kind of hidden, or looks almost shrouded, Whatever it is, I really like the effect that the person is kind of hiding behind something...I think the use of white helps contribute to that impression. Here is another face, but it's a face behind a face which is very clever, inferring quite a bit about the ageing process. It's from a tumblr account. I think its wonderful imagery! ...this little guy is hidden, and in a bit of a pickle too by the look of it! This one is also interesting. Objects on fabric, with what looks like a soft layer of muslin glued/ stitched over the top and moulded carefully around the items to show their relief. In crafting terms, we tend to do this in a similar way with objects slathered in paint or gesso. Niches also work for this topic, especially if you put doors on them!! Like the Shadowbox below....see the door to the left? Itching to open that!! And lastly, here is a totally stunning book...well more like many books inside books! With a fabulous message about patience buried in the centre! Check out the video below. You must go to the site of the book artist Randi Parkhurst! You can and watch the video here or click play below to see how she has impeccably constructed these books. Patience from Glowing Heads on Vimeo. I'm still here! My posts have been a bit farther apart than I like, lately, as we continue our moves into the new city condo, and the beach house. This transition involves a condo, an apartment, a beach house, two renovations, and four storage lockers in two different states. It made me tired just to type that.... Our big urgent project this weekend is to finish tiling the condo shower. I won't share a picture of that, yet, as it's just a big ugly mess. Instead, I will share some inspiration images from Pinterest (are you just loving Pinterest)? This tile design stops. my. heart. I love how cheery and unpredictable this colorful shower is! I'm loving the play on rhythm in this elegant bathroom -- from the quatrefoil tiles, to the running bond pattern on the ceiling, to the herringbone parquetry on the floor. Understated, without being boring.... Basket-weave floor tile and white subway tile in a running bond pattern. It doesn't get more classic than this. Does this shower conjure images of mermaids for you? The dark grout in this shower lends a rustic, casual feel.... Clever use of space.... And finally, how about some heat sensitive shower tiles? I think it would be fun to have these in a guest bath -- and not tell your guests they were heat sensitive, so they could experience the surprise. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! I have move-out cleaning and tiling a shower on my agenda :)
The process of creating the tile combinations in this bathroom was so fun! Here's a look at how it all came together...

This month's prompt at the Creative Therapy blog is: What's one lesson you would give a married couple? Or if you're not married, what's an advice someone gave you? My sweet husband and I have been together since 1996 when we met in college. Fourteen years together and I think our relationship is stronger than it has ever been. Someone once told me: Be kinder than you feel. And it has really worked for us! Like any two people we have bad days that follow us home. But being kind and being met with kindness ensures that no bad mood...
