Worries are thoughts about things that already happened or things that might happen in the future. When we keep thinking about the negative thoughts, like fears or problems, worry clouds grow. The bigger the worry cloud grows the harder it is to be happy. Worry clouds are invisible clouds that hold negative thoughts about problems or fears. In this social story, two boys teach their friends how to zap worry clouds with lightning truths. Kids will be exposed to 100+ everyday situations. They will learn critical thinking, positive thinking, and self-regulating as they analyze each situation. This unit includes: ⚡️ Instructional story at the farm ⚡️ Instructional story for school ⚡️ Personalized story (fill-in-the-blanks) for school ⚡️ Strategy posters ⚡️ Behavior Contract ⚡️ Reflection Form ⚡️ Award Certificate ⚡️ Activity/Game ⚡️ Note to adults ⚡️ Recommended Products & Credits Table of Contents: Page 1: Unit Cover Page Page 2: Dear Adult Pages 3-12: Instructional Story at the Farm Pages 13-19: Instructional Story for School Pages 20-26: Personalized Story for School (fill-in-the-blank) Page 27: Strategy poster: Page 28: Behavior Contract: Worry Zapper Page 29: Zap Reflection Form Page 30: Award Certificate: I am a Worry Zapper Pages 31-44: Zap Challenge Game Page 45: Recommended Products Page 46: Thanks & Credits Recommendations for using this unit: Instructional stories – Print, insert into sleeve protectors, and keep in a 3-ring binder. Use comb binding for a thinner book. Share with teachers, counselors, parents, babysitters, coaches, etc. so everyone knows what strategies you are working on. Personalized story - To avoid fatigue, we recommend that you introduce this story after the child has had a break but within 24 hours of the instructional story. Allow time for the student to pause, process, and record their thoughts and feelings. If writing is a challenge, consider providing a scribe. This is a great resource to photocopy and send home. Reflection Form – After reading both stories, use the reflection form as discussion guides in which an adult moderator acts as the scribe allowing the child to focus on processing their thoughts. This form can also be used as independent worksheets to practice analytical thinking or in a "calm down" zone to practice self-regulation. These can be helpful in data collection for IEP or BIP goals if you add the date and time on them. Strategy posters – Allow the child to chose his/her favorite, then laminate and post in a visible place (refrigerator, playroom, bedroom door, etc.) Game/Activity - For longevity, print in color and laminate or print in color on card stock. This activity can be used one-on-one or in a small group setting.
