hi tracey, momma, and anyone who stopped by to visit! i have had this wonderful set from stampin up, by the seashore, for such a long time and it was collecting dust! i was so happy to be able to put it to paper using linda's fun sketch from freshly made sketches #130. as i mentioned before, the stamp set i used is called by the seashore. the cardstock i used is vanilla, pool party, marina mist and chocolate chip. i used pool party, marina mist, chocolate chip and crumb cake inks. i know it's hard to see, but i stamped doubles of the conch shell and the sand dollar and layered the top pieces using stampin dimensionals. i sponged the shapes with crumbcake ink and a sponge. the background paper is vanilla card sponged with pool party, marina mist and crumb cake. i splashed a bit of water from a paintbrush and dried the paper with my heat gun. i then ran it through the sellabration's decorative dots embossing folder. i finished it off with pool party seam binding ribbon and...tadaaa! i have a feeling it is not clean and simple, but i really like the look. as my sister said, it's me! speaking of...it was about a month ago when my sister and dear friend, laura, went down to my woman cave to stamp. it was the kind of sweatpants-wearing-hair-in-a-headband-no-bra-chocolate-eating-wine-drinking-make-the-card-up-as-you-go-along kind of stamping night. it was fun. we got to talking about how much i really wanted to win a challenge. (i guess i need to play to win...but that's not the point!) all of a sudden, laura put the last little rhinestone on her card, smiled a crazy grin and clapped with glee. she's not five. the point is, she felt like a five year old...at christmas! she was ready to burst-because SHE made such a beautiful card. she didn't know she could make such a beautiful card. all of a sudden-GAH! mental head slap! that's why i do what i do...it isn't about how many people comment on my work, or not comment. it's not about whether i win a challenge or not. it's about helping my friends create little pieces of love they can't wait to send to someone special! that's not to say the day i actually win a challenge i will be sad...nooo, i will be overjoyed. until then, though, i need to realize my stamping is much more important. i think i AM making the world a happier place, one card at a time! dr. roopleen, a motivational speaker, said, "listen to that little voice inside you. sometimes it can whisper meaningful words of wisdom and make more sense than the deafening noise of opinions and judgements outside." i need to spend more time listening to my little voice. i love what i do. i do what i do with great love. i really want that little voice to calm the deafening noise with a quiet, "shhhh! i'm working here!" until i write again- peace be with you
Yes its fall, but can I post one more card with seashells? I was really happy with how this card turned out and wanted to share. I lov...

Fab Friday Challenge is back after the holiday break with a great challenge that inspired me to get into my craft room this afternoon. Admittedly, little incentive is required but it's still a great sketch to work with. 😀 I'm enjoying getting to know the Sand & Sea suite from the new January-June Mini Catalogue so the Friends are Like Seashells bundle was the go-to place for this challenge. I've also used some of the DSP from the Sand & Sea DSP pack. This is great for coastal themes, with one side having seashell imagery and the reverse having watery/sandy patterns. I stamped the sand dollar, starfish and scallop shell images in Basic Gray and coloured them with Stampin' Blends. Although there are dies that match these images, I fussy cut them because I wanted a minimal border for them. Before assembling the cluster, I used the splatter stamp to add in some 'sand' for the shells to sit on. I added in some linen twine and some Opal Rounds to finish off. Update: Delighted to be the Fave at Fab Friday! If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. It's Thursday and time for the Create with Connie and Mary challenge 263; this week it is a sketch! I decided my By the Seashore set would work nicely for the sketch's split image! The colors of Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Baked Brown Sugar seemed fitting for my beachy look. The sea critters were stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock with Baked Brown Sugar ink. I sponged the edges of each piece then spattered them with Baked Brown Sugar ink and my AquaPainter filled with alcohol. The Pool Party layer (5-1/4" X 4") was run through the Big Shot with the Chevron Embossing Folder. I placed the paper in the embossing folder so the chevrons would go horizontal rather than vertical and which gave a flat border at the top and bottom; I like that look a lot! I also splattered this layer with Baked Brown Sugar (more diluted than before for a softer look) and Pool Party inks. That gives such nice visual texture. "Thinking of You" is from the Sweet Essentials sentiment set and you may have noticed that I seem to use it a lot!! It just has some really nice and useful greetings that I need frequently! Since this is a seashore card, I thought we should definitely have some Pearls sprinkled around also! Here again is the Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge 263 for this week: Stamps: By the Seashore, Sweet Essentials Inks: Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party Cardstock: Pool Party, Baked Brown Sugar, Crumb Cake Accessories: Linen Thread, Subtles Designer Buttons, Basic Pearls, Chevron TIEF, Stampin' Sponge, 1/2" Circle Punch, AquaPainter, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Corner Rounder Punch. Be sure to check out the other CCMC Challenge Team's cards.. those girls can STAMP!! And now it is your turn to create! Stamp up a card using this sketch and the CCM guidelines on their blog then upload it! Be sure and link it to where you've posted your card online so we can all come see it and leave you a comment too!! BTW, I cut my Crumb Cake strips 1" wide then 3-1/4" and 1-1/4" height for the left column and 1-1/8" and 3-3/8" height for the right column. Hope this will help you get started. Thanks for visiting! Now go forth and create! : ) Margaret

Colour Inkspiration is a Facebook challenge that gives us a lovely colour palette to play fortnightly. Here's the current challenge. The colours and gorgeous graphic just screamed the seaside, so I got out Seaside Shore. It's been a bit neglected of late but it is a set I love. The masked column uses all four colours. The shells/starfish are stamped in Sahara Sand and clear embossed. The seaweed was stamped in Tranquil Tide and clear embossed then I water-coloured the interior. The fish are gold embossed and coloured with Stampin' Write markers. One is directly embossed onto the column and the other fussy cut so it could be popped up on dimensionals to give some depth. This inside sentiment is from Seaside Shore. Update: Delighted to make the Top 5 at Colour Inkspiration! Ingredients Card: Tranquil Tide, Shimmery cardstock Stamps: Seaside Shore, Perennial Birthday Inks: Sahara Sand, Bermuda Bay, Emerald Envy, Tranquil Tide, versamark. Other: gold and clear embossing powder, dimensionals, Stampin' Write markers in the three greens, aquapainter, sponges
Hello, and welcome to this month's blog tour! Our theme this month is "Goodbyes Are Hard." The Stampin' Up! retiring list has been posted, and I will be saying goodbye to some of my favorite stamp sets. But, I know lots of fun, new stamp sets will be taking their place! (Yep -- I have seen the new catalog, and it is gorgeous!) So, saying goodbye can mean different things to different people: sympathy cards, moving cards, retirement cards, etc. I decided to create a sympathy card for my project. A family friend recently passed away, and he just loved the beach. In fact, he, his wife, and a few family members made the 3-hour trip to Ocean City just days before he died. So, when I thought about him, I knew exactly what stamps I would use for a sympathy card for his family. Two of the stamp sets are on the retiring list: By The Seashore and Love & Sympathy. Being a Maryland girl, I just love the images in By The Seashore, especially the crab. I stamped the crab and starfish with Lost Lagoon ink onto Whisper White card stock and then "fussy cut" them out with our fabulous Paper Snips. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to attach them to the front of the card to give it a little pop. I used the Hardwood stamp (NOT retiring -- Yay!) with Crumb Cake ink stamped on Whisper White card stock to get the weathered boardwalk look. Here is the inside of the card: I used a piece of Linen Thread to tie a bow around the fold of the card to add a finishing touch. Here are the supplies I used to create this card: By The Seashore Clear Stamp Set - 126532 Price: $16.95 Love & Sympathy Clear Stamp Set - 122797 Price: $11.95 Hardwood Clear Stamp Set - 133035 Price: $13.95 Lost Lagoon 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock - 133679 Price: $6.95 Crumb Cake 8-1/2" X 11" Card Stock - 120953 Price: $6.95 Whisper White 8-1/2" X 11" Card Stock - 100730 Price: $8.50 Lost Lagoon Classic Stampin' Pad - 133644 Price: $5.95 Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad - 126975 Price: $5.95 Linen Thread - 104199 Price: $4.50 Paper Snips Scissors - 103579 Price: $9.95 Snail Permanent Adhesive - 104332 Price: $6.95 Stampin' Dimensionals - 104430 Price: $3.95 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog I hope you enjoyed this card, and I hope it brings comfort to the recipients. This encouragement card is for two challenges. First, it's for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge#150 here. I went across the top row with Pastel Colors, Designer Paper and Die Cut. I'm so excited, as today is my first time as a guest designer for Paper Players! It's so much fun to stamp with such a great team. AND I couldn't be happier that the first challenge is a "let's go to the beach" theme. Sea shells are definitely what I think of when I think of the beach! I really got into this and decided to make a card set of four. Here are the other three: I used SU's "Hardwood" stamp and pool party ink for the background. The shells are stamped in brown sugar from" By the Seashore." The sentiments are also SU, from "Endless Birthday Wishes." I used white textured card stock, along with some pool party and brown sugar. I love those colors together! Be sure to check out all the other cards over at paper players!

So Many Shells is a beautiful stamp set, featured in the Annual Catalog. I've been playing with a few of the images, and when I saw a card on Pinterest, by Heather Cooper, I knew I had to try my hand at recreating it. Take a look: This starts with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I cut a circle with one of the Layering Circles dies in a piece of Thick Whisper White, to use as a mask. I gently anchored my Thick piece over my card front, and then using sponges, inked a beach scene. I started with Crumb Cake ink for the beach, then sponged Soft Sky from there on up. I made sure to leave some "whiter" areas to make it look like clouds. Then I took the "water" stamp from High Tide and stamped it (leaving the mask in place) using Marina Mist ink. I removed the mask and had a lovely "beach circle". Next I stamped the birds, also from High Tide, using Early Espresso ink. The card base is Soft Sky, and there's a layer of Crumb Cake between the bottom and the top card front. And then those shells! They are two-step stamps; the sand dollar was stamped in Sahara Sand and Crumb Cake; the shell in Powder Pink and Blushing Bride, and the long shell (is that a conch shell?) was Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip. Each shell was fussy-cut with my Paper Snips, then adhered with Dimensionals. Don't you love that sentiment? Seas the Day? 💗 Beautiful! Hello and welcome to the May Creation Station Blog Hop! Our theme this month is connected to wherever we find ourselves by the water--we are looking out and being inspired by what we "sea". To enjoy each designer's blog in the hop, click on the "Next" link at the end of each blog. We have lots to share with you today. It has been a while since I've been to a beach by the ocean or a lake in a sailboat; however, my grandson did bring me seashells he found on the beach just a couple of weeks ago. I look forward to walking on the beach with him soon, so I used Easton's seashells as my inspiration for these projects today. I created a set of Basic White and Gold cards using the Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle (#156205, which includes the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set, #154368, and Seaside Seashells Dies, #156095) and the coordinating Seashells 3D embossing folder (#154309). Each card was created with a simple design and a different type seashell as the focal point. Each shell (except the sand dollar) was stamped in VersaMark ink, then heat embossed with a mixture of 2/3rds Clear embossing powder and 1/3rd Gold embossing powder. Then it was die cut and embossed with the 3D embossing folder. The edges of each shell were heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. The shell on each card was centered on a rectangle of Basic White card stock which was embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and layered over a piece of Gold Foil. Each sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder. Each card base is Basic White Thick card stock. The sand dollar image was stamped in VersaMark, heat embossed with Gold embossing powder and die cut. Let's head over to Jeanna Kay's blog to find out what she "seas". It is sure to be wonderful! To Jeanna Kay's blog . . . Have a wonderful May! --Sara Nell

Happy Friday evening. Earlier this week, I was scrolling through YouTube and watched a video about a card swap. One of the cards caught my eye and I immediately went to look up the crafter. She had a YouTube channel. I found the video where she made the card. The next evening, I grabbed a new pack of 8.5 x 11" card stock, cut the entire thing in half, cut the light blue layers and then cut 50 tops and 50 inserts. I used stamps and inks from Stampin' UP!. The sets I used were: Oceanfront, All Adorned and Mountain Air. I didn't have the Sailing set that the lady used, so I found some sets that I had and went from there. The ink colors are: Versafine black, SU: Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy (I did not stamp off like the original crafter did), Soft Sky and Crumb Cake. I used several of my Misti stamping tools to get the stamping done very quickly. I'll be donating the cards to Bring Smiles To Seniors. Here is the link to the YouTube video. Check out her other videos as well. thanks for looking ~ ~ Pam have a great airborne day! God Bless All Our Military.. each and every one of them

Hello and welcome. Today I have a card suitable for all your beach loving friends. I have used the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set for this one. This card is quite a detailed card with a little bit of cutting apart the seaweed die cuts. It was actually one of the cards in my Seashells Stamping By Mail. But the card was easy for class participants to recreate as the kit came with full colour detailed instructions. I can't give you the exact details on how to make it as this was a card for my Seashells Stamping By Mail class. If you are looking to learn some new techniques, or have cards designed for you so all you have to do is assemble the kits, then why not take a look at my latest Stamping By Mail class. Hello stampers, While working on another card that I thought was due today instead of Friday, I decided to go with the same theme with a few different sets. I found a video from Lisa Freeman that I based this card off of, however, I didn't do well on the technique. SHH, it will be our little secret! For this card, a base of Basic White Cardstock was used followed by a layer of Bermuda Bay Cardstock. The stamped piece I again used Basic White Cardstock stamping first with the Oceanfront Stamp Set, using Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral with Sponge Dauber, Balmy Blue & Bermuda Bay using the kissing technique, Sahara Sand & Soft Suede Inks. For the kissing technique, the Great Waves Background was used you can barely see the waves from the stamp I should have pressed a bit harder to transfer. For the sailboat, sentiment & birds, Soft Suede Ink was used, the sailboat was colored in using Bermuda Bay & Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends Combo Packs then cut out using the Smooth Sailing Dies. ~Thanks for stopping by! All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.
