Bible ABC's: Y is for Youngest Jacob (& Esau) These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! So... I kinda went rogue and as I was writing the lesson! I couldn't stop because it seemed like chapters 25-28 all flow together. Each section is short, but is usually divided... especially for younger students. Although this contains the stew trade, the blessing switch and Jacob's ladder dream, they can be divided by chapter. Or, taught as one lesson. The Fact Wheel briefly reviews their birth, the stew trade and the birthright event. Color and black & white are included. These can be used for Jacob and any other appropriate lesson and were kept plain intentionally for this purpose. These are a reminder that God is there for us. Students can color or paint the designs on the banner, door hanger and bookmark. Stickers can be added. String or ribbon can be added to the banner to hang and on the bookmark. A Word Search for chapters 25-28 is included. A stew maze, dot-to-dot and a puzzle are included. The puzzle has been updated with the stew food and standups. Click here to download this file with these updates only. The first is a Reader Worksheet and is divided into the three sections by chapter. This can be used as one worksheet, or review, or if you are dividing the lesson, each section can be used as needed. The wording from the scripture is as easy to read as possible with sight words while keeping to the key points with easy to answer questions. The second is a fill-in-the-blank worksheet. This is sectioned by the number. Black & white only. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions. This is not included in the application pack. Click here to download part 1 Genesis 25 'The Stew'. Click here to download part 2 Genesis 27 'The Birthright'. Click here to download part 3 Genesis 28 'Jacob's Ladder'. These Event Cards can be used as smaller visuals and they can be shuffled for the student to re-tell the events and lay them in order. The same full-page size visuals and pictures-to-color can be downloaded below. There are alphabet mazes and worksheets included. These are half-sheets and can be used in Interactive Notebooks. Click here to see a free video on how to make and use Interactive Notebooks. There is a set of 5 and 10 piece puzzles. I added this Flip Book because the students love them, and the foldable book below does not include Jacob's dream in chapter 28. It includes the color and black & white. Click here to download the lesson and application pack. There is a one-page foldable book in color and black and white. This does not include Jacob's ladder dream. These pages can also be cut apart and used as flash cards to put the events in order. Click here to download. Click here to download the updated visuals. This file contains visuals for Genesis 25-27. All are not shown. (These are not included in the application pack.) Click here to download the pictures to color. (These are the same as the visuals but are black & white.) Click here to download the updated visuals for Jacob's Ladder in Genesis 28. Click here to download the pictures to color for Jacob's Ladder in Genesis 28. These free, printable, Jacob Bible activities are related to the story of Jacob and when he deceived his father, Isaac, in the Book of Genesis.
(Continued from 1953) As should be obvious to even the most casual reader, the STORIES FROM THE BIBLE strip in BOYS' LIFE does not go in any kind of chronological sequence. The episodes in 1953 focus on several "popular" or well-known stories, and only follow in the loosest-possible chronological order. Then, after having started the series with the briefest overview of "The Creation" and "The Garden of Eden", that story is returned to at the start of 1954, and fleshed out somewhat. I'm really wondering if Creig Flessel did all of these, or just the ones with his name on them. It seems odd that so far, "The Creation", "Noah" and "Joseph" have all been done twice, and in each case, the first time with no artist listed. Although, by the end of 1954, we have "Moses" again as well, in in that case, both this and the earlier episode had Flessel's name on them. Incidentally, as I was putting this page together, by dumb luck I happened to run across the Wikipedia page for Bob LeRose-- who, apparently, was the COLORIST for probably EVERY color comic that appeared in BOYS' LIFE from either Johnstone & Cushing, or later, Al Stenzel Productions! In lesson 15, Jacob and Esau, the kiddos had a blast doing some “cooking.” We started off by asking the kiddos if they remembered who we were talking about last week (see Lesson 14). Sure enough, they remembered. As we spoke about Abraham, his wife Sarah and the promises God fulfilled to them, we placed […]

We recently had a lesson about the 12 Sons of Jacob. I love teaching about Joseph and his brothers. The KIDDOS seem to get excited about how BIG of a family Jacob had. This LESSON introduces a LOT of names. Some are easy for the KIDDOS to remember and some are very difficult. We practice the names of the Sons of Jacob through SONS, CHANTS, RHYMES and GAMES. Since memorizing the Sons of Jacob is an opportunity for the KIDDOS to earn a BIBLE BADGE...we work hard during this lesson to GET THOSE NAMES memorized. :-) Our Visual Aid... 12 Sons 3D puff containers were very helpful in the KIDDOS memorizing the names of the 12 Sons of Jacob. I also, have cards made up that share the meaning of each of the son's names along with their mother and their birth order number. Its amazing how quickly the KIDDOS seemed to remember the meaning of each of the son's names. This is one of the songs we sing that helps the KIDDOS memorize the names of Jacob's sons in birth order. The KIDDOS memory verse was Psalm 127:3. This is one of my FAVORITE Bible Verses!!! The KIDDOS made a Dodecahedron for their TAKE HOME project. It is a 12 sided object and they added sticker of each son of Jacob. The sticker pictures are made using clip art by Phillip Martin. I did have to cut around and make some WORK. :-) Bible Clip Art I added names and ran them through my sticker maker machine. The KIDDOS LOVED adding the stickers!!!! Just to keep the Dodecahedron from collapsing we stuffed each one with tissue paper. The KIDDOS did have to have a WORD of Warning...NO THROWING them in the church building. The following week the KIDDOS made these for their EXPLORER JOURNAL ACTIVITY. We call them 12 Sons Flip Flaps Activity. I did all the slicing of the doors/flaps...the KIDDOS colored the pictures of the Sons of Jacob as we sang their names. Here are a few more VISUALS that I used during these lessons. I have had these for SEVERAL years. I made them a long time ago. I also had this visual on the table. I used it as we sang the names, reviewed their name meaning or recalled their birth order. This is a "fun" lesson to teach KIDDOS. They seem to be drawn into this BIG FAMILY. They enjoyed learning the meaning of each son's name and earning their BADGE for knowing the names!!! Blessings, Ronda

В этом уроке мы узнаем об Иакове из Бытия 25-28. Мы узнаем, что Бог совершает Свой чудесный план через несовершенных людей.
(Continued from 1956) For 1957, the format of the series changed from "comic-strip" to more "illustrated children's stories". Irving Novick continued, doing some of the most beautiful, gorgeous work I have ever seen from him! Once again, the series starts over from the beginning, with the 3rd version of "The Creation", followed by "The Garden of Eden". For the 1st time, we see the story of "Cain and Abel", followed by the 3rd version of "Noah's Ark", the 2nd versions of "The Tower Of Babel" and "Abraham and Lot", the 1st version of "Jacob", and finally, the 3rd version of "The Nativity". It worked out perfectly that the children were studying the fourth day of creation in science at the same time we were digging into God’s covenant with Abraham in history! As we talked about…
This week we are moving forward in our EXPLORATION of Abraham and Sarah. We are focusing on the time period when the three "special" visitors came and told Abraham that Sarah would have a baby in a year! What an exciting story!!! Our DO YOU KNOW? WALL is ready. We have a NEW card to add to our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN" Timeline. Here is a picture of our TIMELINE....As you can tell, I do not have many of the MOSES stories posted....If we go on into MOSES, I will be adding them back to the TIMELINE. Due to room limits, I will often remove some cards and leave the ones that show GOD'S AWESOME PLAN unfolding. That is why the card of Cain and Able have been removed, but SETH has been left up on the board. Remember, Jesus comes through SETH!!!!! MAMRE and SODOM have been added to our MAP. This is the KIDDOS new MEMORY VERSE. We sang it to the Tune: "If You're Happy And You Know It..." We sang this song several time. I want the KIDDOS to really understand the 3 SPECIAL PROMISES that GOD made to Abraham. I forgot to share these last week. So, here are our WORDS for our WORD WALL. I want the KIDDOS to KNOW what these words mean. I am still needing to add one for the word "FAMINE." The KIDDOS will be making these TENTS for their TAKE HOME project. They will add POTS and PAN stickers to SARAH...after all she was in the tent preparing a meal for their special guest. To make these tents set up I added an "easel" style back...so, the KIDDOS can set them up on a shelf, dresser or table. Our REVIEW GAME is more of a Dramatization. I had the KIDDOS pretend to be Abraham, Sarah and the Special Guest. We retold the story with them acting it out....It was so cute. Next week the KIDDOS will be making these and adding them to their EXPLORER JOURNAL. They will add the stickers to ANSWER the QUESTIONS.... TENT, FIRE, STARS and the number "99." I LOVE teaching the life of Abraham. Blessings, Ronda

Check out this Abraham and Lot separate Bible lesson for kids! Perfect for 5-10 year olds in the home or in the church. This pack includes story pages, worksheets, games and more to help your kids learn about the story of Abraham and Lot.
Abraham is a long lesson and can be divided into two lessons. Here is what is studied: God’s promise to Abram, birth of Ismael and Isaac, the angels visit, Abraham tries to save Sodom & Gomorrah, the sacrifice and the cave he purchases as a burial place. Abraham is found in Genesis 11-25. The following posters, worksheets and more are in the lesson and application pack. These posters are included in the application pack. This is an Abraham's Life Sequencing Timeline. There is a completed one (right) for a teacher's visual, if you are keeping a notebook and just want it as a chart, or you do not like the cut and glue. If the students only put glue above the dotted line, they will have a lift-the-flap with the information under each photo. There is a poster with the people that were in the cave that Abraham purchased with Sarah. Students can fill in the worksheet if this is something you want to discuss. The other worksheet is a favorite and so easy. You just need lots and lots of stars. I give the students stickers, but you can purchase star stampers and ink stamp pads to use. Students can color or paint the sky background or print on blue paper. Click here to download the lesson, posters and worksheet application pack. This poster is in the lesson and application pack. It can be used with several lessons and includes a worksheet. This would be a good addition to a notebook if the students are making one. As in previous sessions, I brought out our sensory bottles and we talked about what God had created on each day. I brought out the Day 6 sensory bottle and I asked my kiddos to guess what God had created on this particular day. No, not the grass, nor the flowers… yes! That’s right! Puppies and cats and giraffes […]

The12 disciples Bible crafts will help your child remember their names. Use craft sticks to make the men. Then store them in a paper plate boat.
This is a fun way to help children to explore the uniqueness that God has given them and to thank him for it. It would fit well with teaching around the creation story or Psalm 139, or just as a stand alone activity. You will need: A shallow tray or plate, shaving foam, paint, cocktail sticks, lolly sticks, people shapes cut from coloured card. Let children choose a colour of card that most reflects them (e.g. their favourite colour from the selection). Cut a person shape from it to represent themselves. Spread shaving foam across the bottom of the tray or plate, making sure that there is enough to completely match the size of the card person you have cut out. Drop small drops of paint into the shaving foam (less is more!) and use a cocktail stick to make swirling patterns. Children can, again, chose colours they like best. Press the person shape down on top of the paint swirls and carefully lift off. Use a lolly stick to scrape away the shaving foam and paint and see the unique artwork revealed underneath! Talk about: How God has made each one of us unique- just as each person's painting will be completely unique. The special way we have each been made- God has put a lot into making us special in the same way that we spent time making intricate patterns and swirls with the paint Pray: While painting and swirling, encourage the children to reflect on and to discuss the things that make them special and unique. What do they like best about themselves? Arrange all of the paintings in a display. Ask children to say something special about themselves that they would like to thank God for. Say a big thank you prayer together!
I have a new Minute To Win It game. It's a New Testament version. Just click on the picture to check it out. In Seminary this year we are studying the Old Testament. For our Christmas party I thought that it would be fun to have a review of the year so far with Minute to Win it games. Here is what I came up with. I gave each team 5 apples and had them do their best to stack them. The team who had the most apples stacked at one minute won. You could also have a person from each team eat an apple and the person who eats most of the apple wins. For this one you will need 2 jars and a bunch of plastic animals. I taped a picture of Noah's Ark to the outside. Each person puts the jar by their feet. While standing straight each person tries to drop an animal into the jar from their nose. The teams that has the most animals is the jar at one minute wins. Each team is given a stack of cups. The team who has the tallest tower at one minute wins. For this one you will need 2 empty tissue boxes, 2 belts and 16 ping pong balls. Put slits on the two sides of the tissue box to slip the belt through. Fill each tissue box with 8 ping pong balls. Each person playing ties the belt around his waist with the box in the back. They both have one minute to dance around until all of the ping pong balls (seeds) have been bounced out of the tissue box. For this you will need 2 straws, 40 marshmallows, and two plates. Each person will have one minutes to get 20 marshmallows (sheep) into the plate (the pen) with the straw. For this challenge you will need 10 3"x 14" pieces of poster board and about 40 cups. Give each player 5 pieces of poster board and a stack of cups. Each player builds a ladder with the poster board for rungs. The team with the tallest ladder wins. Each team gets a copy of Joseph's coat to color. They have one minute to color it on their head. Each player must use at least five colors. The team is allowed to give advice on how to color in the lines. The team that does the best job wins. This one I did not end up doing. Here's how it could be done. You will need 20 old Bibles. Each team will have one member help another team member stack 5 Bibles in each hand. Then they will have to walk across the room with all 10 Bibles without dropping them. The team that gets all 10 Bibles across the room first wins. This challenge is in reference to Deuteronomy 33:17. Give each team a bag of Honeycomb cereal. Each team will have one member lie down on the ground while another team member stacks the honeycomb cereal, one on top of the other, to look like a unicorn horn. The team that has the tallest horn wins (without cheating). For this challenge you will need to print out two pictures of the brick wall below onto cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half like a card. Place the cards at one end of the table. Both teams have a member blow the card across the table and then try to get the card to hang off the edge without falling off. If the card falls off then they have to start all over. Bounce a ping pong ball at least twice to knock over Goliath. The first person to do it in under a minute wins. Here's a printout for you to use. For the Champions I made these trophies out of Toblerone. Just print out the picture below. Cut it out and glue it to the top of a Toblerone. The students loved it. This is all the further we have studied this year. If we come up with more games I will be sure to post them on here. Good Luck! Check out my other New Testament Minute to Win it game. Here's another fun game to play with scriptures. I also have Grinch Minute to Win it Games And Alice in Wonderland Minute to Win it Games And Frozen themed Minute to Win it Ideas

Here is a craft and prayer activity to help children to explore the unique person that God has made them. It works well with looking at Psalm 139:14, but also works with the creation story or any situation when we are thanking God for who He has made us to be. Craft Activity: You will need: Paper circles, scissors, pens/pencils Give each child a circle of paper. Fold it in half and in half again. Use the scissors to cut patterns, as in making paper snowflakes. Open the circles out and talk about how each snowflake the children have made is beautiful and unique. No two will be the same. Now get children to write and draw on the snowflake the things they like about themselves and their favourite things. Encourage children to look at each other's snowflakes.
