I love cool and funky street-art and I'm pretty convinced that I've come across what is probably one of the swankiest selections out there... but do correct me if I'm wrong, of course. Feel free to send me your input or other sites/artists/street-art pics that I can delve into and I'll gladly share them on the blog. The below selection comes from the gang at Street Art Germany. The site is actually a Facebook page where everyone is invited to enrich the street-art collection by sharing their street-art pics in existing folders. The idea of sharing the feeding between everyone is fabulous, I love the joint effort, and this means that the final selection is quite succulent in its breath of funky shots, ideas and concepts on offer. The Street Art Germany page is hosted by Polypix, another Facebook page also devoted to street art where each and every shot is taken by the artist themselves. But that's perhaps another blog post just on Polypix... So do have a squeeze at the below and check-out their page. I, personally, have 'Liked' the Street Art Germany page and honestly love getting their little pearls of quirkiness, fun and creativity in my newsfeed every day. The breath of subjects covered is great and the ideas are just out of this world. Perfect for fishing for inspiration for that elusive big idea! Images courtesy of - Street Art Germany

Welcome to the Smithsonian Studio Arts blog! Headquartered in the S. Dillon Ripley Center on the National Mall, we've been offering hands-on art classes for over 40 years. Designed for individuals age 16 and up, our courses cover a range of media, including Drawing, Painting, Fiber Arts, Photography, Digital Media, Ceramics, Beading, Calligraphy, and more. The goal of each class is to help students develop their own artistic style and progress as artists. This involves teaching new or different ways of thinking about art, and allowing students to explore different tools and materials. Our teaching philosphy is dedicated to providing a hands-on, creative setting in which students can meet like-minded individuals and make connections that extend beyond the classroom.
The irony of the mannequin as "everywoman" is that they are not very much like real women at all, but for Patty Carroll, that's the point.
Working as Miguel Marquez Outside, artist Michael Pederson (previously) installs signage around urban areas that at first glance, might appear as an average city-issued nameplate or placard. His clever interventions mimic official warnings and notices in design and placement, disguising their witty messages and unusual purposes. In some of his more recent pieces, Pederson dubs a sagging bench the “Endless Waiting Area,” marks a grassy runway as a pigeon terminal, and installs a miniature wonderland down a drainage tube. More

California-based artist Spenser Little has spent the past 15 years creating sculptures by bending and cutting wire into figurative portraits and phrases. His lightweight pieces have been installed on lamp posts and other existing structures around the world and have also been exhibited in numerous gallery shows. According to Little, a few of his sculptures combine multiple pieces and include moving parts, though most of his work is made using one continuous piece of wire. More
