This year I have created a whopping 210 colour combinations for you to use and enjoy. These take in not just the new In Colors™ as normal, but the six returning colours and 10 brand new colours. It’s taken me ages! With 21 colour charts, it would be impractical to attempt to show them here, so I’ve posted them over on Facebook. Please click here to see the 2018 colour charts You don’t have to be a Facebook member to view them. I hope you like them! And please, if you enjoy my colour combinations and especially if you use any of them, please tag me in your post or let me know in the comments. Thank you! SaveSave
It’s Mix It Up Monday and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts. I thought it was time I created something 3D, as there’s a bit of a shortage of 3D items on my blog. I used the Scallop Tag Topper punch to create a simple pouch for two teabags. Tea, teacups and teabags are preying on my mind at the moment in the run-up to my Teatime Treats class! I cut two 2” (5cm) strips of Tip Top Taupe and punched them, then scored about 2cm from the bottom to create the base. It’s a very easy way of making a fun pouch - the jute strands around the whole thing hold the teabags inside. And now I’ve completed all the Tip Top Taupe combos from my original chart - I’m on the countdown to finishing them all! Not the most exciting colour combo for a Christmas card, I think you’ll agree, but I don’t like to shy away from a challenge and I have pledged to use a combination from my In Color charts every week for Mix It Up Monday. So, armed with some very subtle ink pads and a couple of lovely festive stamp sets, I produced this. I nearly didn’t post it… but then I added the saving grace: some linen thread and a snowflake embellishment. Suddenly, it went from boring to quite classy. I think, anyway. I know, I know, it’s barely Monday but there are a few hours of the day left! And, for my readers across The Pond, I’m still very much in time for Mix It Up Monday, in which I create a project using one of my colour combinations from my In Color Charts. The stamp set is called Happy Scenes but the card is anything but. In fact, for a Christmas card, it’s a little gloomy. I don’t hate it but really don’t love it – it definitely needs something else but I couldn’t get to anything appropriate so I left it as it is. Plus, I’ve messed up a little as the DSP is actually Real Red, which I didn’t realise when I was making the card. As delicious as this colour combination sounds, I found it quite a challenge; I really wanted to add a splash of green in there. Well you know me, can’t resist a bit of Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive at Christmas time! It’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts. This project was one of the Make & Takes at my Autumn/Winter catalogue launch party at the weekend. I traditionally focus on Christmas at these events but I’m not quite ready to let go of the summer just yet so thought we’d create something colourful with Totally Trees. I really love this set, it’s so versatile - and I showcased the versatility of the Tin of Tags set, too, by using it on a birthday card. I’m quite a fan of this colour combo, too – Sugarplum and Denim are my two favourite In Colors this year. I know I wasn’t sure about Sweet Sugarplum to begin with but it’s really grown on me. (Don’t ask me about the Peach though – I still have to learn to love that one!) To stamp the trees evenly, I began by positioning the stamp on the block at a 45-degree angle. This meant that, when stamping the first tree, I could line the block up with the edge of the cardstock, stamping down the left edge first, then lining up the trees with each other as I went along. I’d cut the Whisper White cardstock slightly bigger than required, so we could trim it down and have the trees hanging off all sides. Stamping the Mint Macaron on top is simple - it really helps that this set is photopolymer, so you can see where you’re going. To create the splatter effect, I watered down some Sweet Sugarplum ink ever so slightly, just to loosen it a little. Then I picked some up with a paintbrush and, holding it horizontally across the project, I simply tapped the top of the brush to splash some ink. The thinner your ink, the bigger the splashes - and they are more likely to smudge your existing images, so don’t go mad with the water. I finished off with the corner rounder to take off the harshness of the sharp corners, and some Sweet Sugarplum ribbon. It’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another project made with a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts. These are the thank you cards I’ve made to go with this month’s orders. Hostess Mandy had a great party, where we all made a Christmas card using the Merry Tags Framelits. But I thought I’d look towards spring for the thank you cards and creat something with Totally Trees and a lovely soft colour combination. But I have a confession to make. It was only when I was looking at the photo on my computer, and struggled to get the colour to look ‘right’ that I realised I’ve accidentally used Pool Party cardstock instead of Soft Sky! That’s what happens when you make cards at night! But I’m keeping the recipe and colour combo as Soft Sky as that was the original intention. I had a lovely crafty session with a couple of stamping friends recently and had the opportunity to play with the Jar of Love bundle. These sessions can turn out to be expensive! I hadn’t paid any attention to this set at all but inevitably I loved it. What I particularly liked was that SU have thought of everything. I cut out the jar, but was wishing I could make it transparent... then discovered that there’s a die to cut out the middle of the jar, too, so I could! I used this colour combination, based on the ink pads that just happened to be on the table, and when I returned home, I realised it just happened to be a Mix It Up Monday combo, using a colour combination from my latest set of In Color charts! Well, it is if you discount the Soft Sky, which I am going to do as it’s very subtle behind the vellum. Happy New Year! I hope 2017 turns out to be a good one for you. To get things off to a remarkably efficient start, I have a Mix It Up Monday project on a New Year theme for you. But before you feel even a glimmer of admiration for my organisational skills, I confess I made this hurriedly on Friday evening, during my Christmas Hygge Night, inspired by one of the guests, Grace, and the beautiful cards she’d made. It’s a tricky colour combination for me, but I cannot deviate from the In Color charts, so I inked up the medallion in Peach, then sponged the edges with Rose Red before stamping. Then I inked the same stamp again in Blushing Bride before sponging a little Tangerine Tango in the centre. I – well, Grace did it for me, actually – fussy cut the centre medallion and popped it upon top, finishing off with an enamel shape. If this stamp set is on your wish list, please don’t delay... as it retires tomorrow!
It’s Mix It Up Monday again and time for another colour combination from my In Color charts. This one is quite a pleasing combination but it presented quite a challenge as I had a minuscule amount of So Saffron cardstock… and I needed to make about a dozen of these cards! The tiny banners were the answer to my problem as I could punch loads of these and still have some cardstock to spare. They don’t call me frugal for nothing, you know. I knew I wanted to use the gorgeous Woodland Embossing Folder and Thankful Forest Friends as they won’t be around for much longer; both will be retiring with the Autumn/Winter catalogue at the beginning of next year, which is a real shame as both are favourites of mine. I’ll particularly miss the embossing folder as it’s so gorgeous - look at the shadows it casts in my badly-lit photo. So now we’re on the countdown to Christmas and, after last Friday’s festiva wreath class (more of that later), I have another class coming up this Saturday, where we’ll be making a fabulous “bendy” card in a beautiful presentation box. There are extra projects for early finishers, too. It’s a project of fun techniques and fabulous folds and you’ll be guided through it, every step of the way. I have ONE place left on this class if you’re interested - it’s in Horsley Woodhouse from 1.30pm-4pm and all the details, plus registration, can be found here. Hope you can make it! If you want to know what my kind of colours are, they are not these. These couldn’t be further from my taste if they tried. But, in the spirit of Mix It Up Monday and my bid to use every single colour combination from my In Color charts, I thought I’d better give it a go. I’ve seen some nice cards made with this set in subtle shades so they were my inspiration, but I can’t say I’m thrilled with my output. Great stamp set though, lovely dies… and nice colours if you like that sort of thing.
How gorgeous is this colour combo? Three new colours mixed with Daffodil Delight give us a really summery look. I’ve decided I’m not going to commit to Mix It Up Monday this year, but will be bringing you colour combinations as and when I use them. You can still see all of my colour combinations on my Facebook page, here (you don’t have to be a member to view). I’ve used Varied Vases, a brand new stamp set which handily has a co-ordinating punch, so you don’t have to fussy cut those vases. I did, however, fussy cut ALL of those yellow flowers... which are actually stamped in every shade of yellow possible. I confess, however, that I only went down that route because I messed up the stamping of the stem (should have used the Stamparatus!) so wanted to cover it up. There’s always a way! The background is watercoloured using Balmy Blue, Highland Heather and Daffodil Delight. I painted one big piece then cut it in half to make the panels for these two cards; you can probably see where the Balmy Blue section originally joined. Hope you like them! I confess I love them!

I loved playing with Swirly Bird at our team meeting last weekend; this boat card keeps popping up on Pinterest so I apologise if I haven’t credited the original creator – please do let me know who it was! It was really fun to make (thanks, Jane, for the project!) and, while I kept closely to Jane’s card, I changed the colours so that I could use it for Mix It Up Monday using a combo from my latest set of In Color charts. So I switched up Jane’s red boats for cheery Pumpkin Pie and compromised with an orange sun, stamped off. Hope you like it! I love the nautical look of this colour combination, and think it makes a change from red. I’m not normally a fan of oranges but really like it in this context, with the three different shades of blue. As for the intruder on the photo above, I was rushing to take the picture as it was just beginning to rain. As you can see I was just quick enough before this happened... Meet the Stampin' Up! 2022 - 2024 In Colors introduced in the all-new Annual Catalog and see how they match up to current and retired colors.
It’s Mix It Up Monday again, when I create a project using a colour combination from my In Color charts. Here’s the project I planned to show you last week… before I realised that it would no longer be a surprise for the ladies at Friday night’s workshop (the ones who look at my blog, anyway!). Vellum was one of the themes of the workshop so I began by die-cutting the Mini Treat Bag then stamping pine cones all over it. The biggest problem with vellum is your choice of adhesive; everything is visible through it, although I discovered when making this bag that the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen is ideal as the adhesive is clear. You’ll still see it, but not as much. Here’s a tip when using your Fine-Tip Glue Pen for the first time: remove the lid completely and take off the seal… otherwise no matter how hard you squeeze, the glue won’t come out! Once you are in, remember to replace the cap between uses to prevent the tip from clogging. To keep the contents a secret (it was a roll of ribbon for the hostess) I lined the bag with a piece of Whisper White cardstock, folded at the bottom and left open at the top. It’s wrapped with a simple belly band of Delightful Dijon and decorated with some beautiful Wonderland trees. These are embellished using a tip I picked up at Monica Gale’s retreat the other week; you apply some Tombow adhesive then sprinkle a mix of Dazzling Diamonds glitter and white embossing powder on top, before heat setting very gently to keep the “puffiness”. It’s finished off with some white jute ribbon (I removed a couple of strands to make it narrower, then used them to tie around the top) and a snowflake. The greeting and stars are die-cut from the same set that makes the bag, which makes it excellent value. It’s the final combination from the Dapper Denim In Color charts this week as I rapidly head towards the last few colour combinations for this round of Mix It Up Monday. Soon I will have a whole new set of charts to show you and I can start playing with the brand new colours. For today’s post, I’ve made a project using the super-versatile Swirly Bird stamp set. This set will be the subject of my Stamp Doctor clinic this Friday, but this one of the projects that got away. It uses three colours from the Subtles collection, which is not somewhere I tend to head too frequently! So it was quite a challenge but thankfully the Dapper Denim is there to hold everything together.
