My previous post on how to make a pottery apron is my most popular post (thanks to Pinterest!) so thought I’d put it out there again for those of you that did not see it previously. One of the downsides of doing pottery is the mess…unless you have an awesome pottery apron that keeps the […]
Here are the step-by-step instructions on doing a pit firing! It was great fun! Fast, easy, and interesting results! I know that this is a far step from the high fire glazes that I’m striving for and it does take me in another direction, but…it’s available! So I take advantage of these opportunities to learn! […]
When I attended the Greg Daly workshop hosted by the Coastal Claymakers in Coffs Harbour at the TAFE, I was gobsmacked by the wonderful throwing area and the tables they had constructed. Such a wonderful work area! The tables surrounding the wheels provided a really convenient workspace that fit right around the wheel. So…remember that […]

I thought I would give you an update on my studio and the barn/shed redo. It’s all done now and looks fantastic! What an amazing place! The history of the barn is very interesting. Originally, it was the workshop for Griffith Tablecraft. Some of you Australians may remember the business and the location – Treetops […]

I received an order for 18 mugs. Geez! Shouldn’t be a hard ask! But I NEVER make anything the same twice! I used to…so they want more…damn! Anyway, after taking Malcolm Greenwood’s class, I now know how to get mugs consistently the same size with little pain! Firstly, you need to use the same amount […]
Hail Mary, full of grace! Create a Marian Grotto as a reminder to ask Our Lady to pray for us, and reflect on the Angel Gabriel's message to her from God!
I love alternative firing of pottery. It’s so alive, visceral, earthy and unpredictable. It’s also such a quick, instant gratification process as compared to a Cone 10 Gas Reduction firing (which I love!), so it’s a nice deversion. I’ve done a pit fire. I’ve raku’d. And now I’ve barrel-fired – and am totally hooked! Barrel […]

Have you ever had one of those moments when you were merrily skipping along, minding your own business when something hits you in the face? Whap!!! Well, that’s what happened when I found Carol Long’s Pottery! Wow! She has the most elegant forms, with the most intricate detailing, and the most amazing glazes! Love ’em! […]

Hola amigas!
