I was asked on F.B. by a friend to share this pattern & a couple of you here liked it too ... so I'm sharing ... it's so fun & easy to do this one ... one tip I have is to keep your pen on the paper from start to finish ... takes a little bit of practice, not much, once you've got it , it's super fast & easy! :)
Curly Braces Too – tangle pattern, a photo by perfectly4med on Flickr. I’m having fun with curly brackets! This is another original design, possibly a tangleation of my own Curly Brace pattern, but different enough to have it’s own name … Continue reading →
I got the inspiration for this from a restaurant we ate at.
This pattern is adapted from a Persian stucco border pattern – they did like their stucco borders! It starts out in the same way as the Persian Diamonds, so there’s lots of opportunity to blend the two together within your … Continue reading →

Day One: a touch of ancient Greece for this one. I started playing with triangles as I don’t think there are enough triangle-based tangle patterns out there… filling in the gaps led me to this geometric pattern. Tomorrow’s tangle pattern: … Continue reading →

Ok, so there are other ways of drawing this pattern, but it starts with an X and adds lots of Y's. The window in the centre is technically a variation of the pattern, but I liked it so much I left it in. All my tangle patterns are also available on my blog perfectly4med.wordpress.com

I'm looking on the internet at lace patterns today.
Pat Ferguson, CZT, dropped by yesterday with her mom to pick up some Zentangle supplies. She also brought some small quilts. As soon as we saw them we asked if we could share them in our blog and she agreed. These Zentangle quilts were about eight or nine inches on a side. On the square ones (and since a classic Zentangle has no obvious orientation) Pat had sewn a diagonal pocket in each corner on the back so they could hang in any direction with the aid of an inserted dowel. Nice touch, Pat! Here's a closer view of the above quilt's reverse side. You can see more of Pat's quilting at her website. Thanks again, Pat, for bringing those wonderful quilts and letting us share them with our readers. Click images for larger view.

New tangle pattern today! I named this Loop de Loo after the child's song. But then I discovered that Suzanne McNeil has a similar name in use already,. So, I changed it to Looby Loo! This is another tangle based on calligraphic ornaments. While this has similarities to the tangles '8 of Diamonds' and 'Square Dance' I think it has enough differences to give it its own name. -Start with a skinny figure 8. -Connect the figure 8s with slight overlaps. -Add a diamond in the middle of the figure 8 and add loops to each corner. You can also see 'Square Dance' for this step. You can easily turn corners or work this along a curved string. I'll post a tile using 'Looby Loo' tomorrow.
I suppose I sort of fell off the Art Every Day bandwagon...It's been rather hectic here and I needed to take a break from something...Seems like the first thing I always let go is my art...But I did get a couple things done-I finished my tile for our Zia group Secret Santa swap and popped that giftie in the mail yesterday. Today the kids had only a half day of school so Bug was home extra early with a friend in tow. Hard to concentrate with boys bouncing around in the other room, but I did sit down with the week's zendala dare and came up with this: Black and white--wasn't sure I even wanted to color it in... But what good is having that gorgeous set of Prismacolor pencils if I don't use them?? My Secret Santa Christmas tile, now airborne to California... Tomorrow we head to Ash and Kyle's for an early Thanksgiving (oooo--gonna have me some turkey!!) Not sure if I'll have much creative play time...I still have the week's Diva challenge to do, I'm behind schedule now with my One Zentangle a Day (I so love this book!!) and Miss Holly still sits unfinished as serious painting time eludes me...I'll get there--soon I hope!! Anyway...thanks for taking the time to peek in and I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!
This might start out the same as 'Ceramix' but ends up in a distinctly gothic design. Based on a common stone and iron work pattern I've seen in numerous places across Leicester, including a fair few churches. Check out my blog perfectly4med.wordpress.com for more tangle patterns and a chance to win a unique tangle pattern prize - subscribe by midnight on 30-JUN-11 for a chance to win. Yay! A new doodle prompt. My last doodle prompt, Viscera Phantasma, has been a huge hit and is flying around Pinterest. Finally, I have taken the time (lots and lots and LOTS of time) to put togeth…
Scrapacat asked about pattern templates in a discussion at the new Freehand Doodle Patterns group I've started (go check out all the patterns--only a few yet, but it'll grow fast-http://www.flickr.com/groups/freehandpatterns/). This is the latest of my designs. I keep trying for 'The Perfect Look'! lol!

This original pattern starts with curly brackets (also known as braces). It's easier to turn the page to do the horizontal brackets in step 2. Lots of opportunity to shade here. All my tangle patterns can be found at my blog perfectly4med.wordpress.com

Decobricks – tangle pattern, a photo by perfectly4med on Flickr. Inspired by an art deco brick wall, this pattern zings with a touch of shading. The original wall was of blue brick with the brick cluster deepset into the brickwork.
