I'm so excited to share my first Christmas post of the year today! Even more excited than usual because it's a special year for one of my favorite companies. A group of bloggers and I are joining in the Balsam Hill Tastemakers Housewalk in honor of their 10th Anniversary Celebration. Balsam Hill asked me to decorate a tree in my home using ornaments from one of their new, curated collections of ornaments and trim. Take a look at the tree I created featuring the stunning Silver and Gold Collection... This tree resides in my Home Office Dining Room. Yes, you read that correctly, this room pulls double duty as a hard working Home Office during the week and an elegant Dining Room for entertaining on the weekends. There is nothing more romantic than a full sized tree in the dining room. The glow it casts on a beautifully set table and the festive atmosphere it creates for our holiday dinners is something I look forward to every year. My Home Office Dining Room is small, and it's tricky to fit a full sized Christmas tree in this room without crowding the dining table. Balsam Hill to the rescue. The Fifth Ave Flatback tree is the perfect solution. Once the realistic, beautiful tree is decorated, you can hardly tell the back is completely flat. The front is full and lush and the back sits flush against the wall. It gives me the look of a full sized tree while taking up only half of the space. When planning the theme for my tree decor, I tapped into my inner child. I drew inspiration from my childhood Christmas memories while I headed to Balsam Hill to view their latest collections. I was enamored by the antiqued gold glass ornaments featured in the Silver and Gold Collection. They have a vintage, Victorian that look creates a sophisticated, elegant theme which is perfect for a formal Dining Room. When I was a child, holiday dinners and entertaining friends and family was a big deal in my home, thinking back on that made the choice of ornaments easy. Then something really cool happened, I stumbled upon their Miracle Flame Christmas Tree LED Candles. They instantly took me back to the Christmas trees decorated by my Mom when I was little. She always had real candles (never lit, of course) clipped to the tree. I always loved the way it looked and dreamt of how pretty it would be to see them lit. That wish came true when I received the candles from Balsam Hill and placed them on my tree. They are amazing! They are provide a soft moving glow that is incredibly realistic looking, especially at night. They even feature a soft crackling noise that imitates the sound of a real flickering flame. The glow of the candles highlights the Gold and Silver Ornament Collection. To play up my inner child theme, I placed real, naturally shed, antlers covered in glitter in the branches which provide a whimsical nod towards the childhood magic of Christmas Reindeer. This sense of whimsy is further highlighted by a fun mix of gift wrap and ribbon patterns all in black and white. Mixing polka dots with oversized animal prints is a contemporary twist that contrasts with the vintage inspired ornaments for the perfect combination of old and new. A special thanks to Balsam Hill for including me in your Tastemakers Housewalk. I'm honored to help you celebrate your 10 Year Anniversary. Thank you for letting me share my first tree of the season with you today.
