An exploration of the full line is to dive deeply into the heart and minds of the diversity of craft in making artisanal Tequilas. As the name indicates, through ArteNOM, these distillers are truly able to showcase the ART of their NOM.
Once agaves are harvested, it’s time for them to be cooked so we can convert all of those inulin molecules into sweet agave honey!
Agaves reproduce in 3 ways, one of them being creating little clones of themselves that grow off of their shallow rhizome root systems. . These little pups are called “hijuelos” and as you can see here, each plant can put off quite a few if left to do so!
We love having Viva México Tequila in the Sip portfolio! This tequila is the original brand of the famous Feliciano Vivanco distillery, situated in the town Los Altos of Arandas. Reposado, Añejo and Blanco, all available.
The DESTROZADOR, is the initial stage of distillation, the goal is to concentrate the alcohols from the fermented agave juice. The fermented must from the previous stage is placed in distillation columns to remove water and concentrate the present alcohols.
To ensure that no chemical residue or water dilution happens upon bottling, producers wash the inside of the bottle out with the tequila they’ll be bottling. Of course, this washed tequila isn’t reused and means a little bit of wasted Tequila at the end of the day but it also means that you’re getting the cleanest purest product Mexico has to offer!
Halving piñas, removing the core, and prepping them for the oven or autoclave to get them perfectly roasted and ready for the next step in the tequila-making process.
Harvesting an agave is not as simple as shaving off some pencas and calling it a day. Piñas must be shaved, then halved and evenly sized for roasting.
This is the 'cogollo,' the top part of the agave piña. But what exactly is it, and why is it removed from the piña? The cogollo is the birthplace of new pencas and ultimately(sometimes) the quiote. Both of these are very strong and hearty, in the interest of protecting these long-living plants. In most distilleries it is believed that these create a bitter quality in the final product, and still others choose to leave them in, noting no difference. Thoughts here Tequila fans?
Sometimes it's important to pause and remember how that bottle you order gets started. Just agave, and people discussing what they want to do with it-- then waiting 8 years for it to be ready, and then another +5 years to become that Extra Añejo we have been dreaming of.
Crushing, Ovens, Mills, Fermentation, Distillation, Bottling. Everything the agave has to go through to become this delicious spirit. // Rajado, Hornos, Molinos, Fermentación, Destilación, Envasado. Por todo lo que tiene que pasar el agave para convertirse en esta deliciosa bebida espirituosa. #siptequila #sippingtequila #instatequila #tequila #mexico #agave #mexican #alcohol #crafttequila #salud #cheers #drinkstagram #liquor #drinkme #buyonline
This is what the transformation of sugars into alcohol looks like! In the fermentation process, yeast is introduced to the mosto, and it consumes the sugars, converting them into alcohol. When the desired level of fermentation is complete, off it goes to be distilled into ordinario(the first distillation) and Tequila after that! #siptequila #sippingtequila #instatequila #tequila #mexico #agave #drinkstagram #liquor #drinkme #buyonline #tequilaprocess

In 2008, two visionaries united to prove that terroir exists in Tequila. The legendary Master Distiller Carlos Camarena, a fifth-generation farmer and tequilero, partnered with Tomas Estes, the man who introduced Tequila culture to Europe. Their shared passion for agave spirits and fine wine heritage gave birth to Tequila Ocho—a testament to the purest essence of Blue Weber agave.
