I was tasked with making the futuristic version of tilted towers in Fortnite. This was a huge undertaking and the main obstacles were time and performance. I did the exterior textures and modular sets as well as a majority of the interior texturing. Me and my lead, Rick Kohler also managed around 150 outsourced props to populate this city with. I worked with Epics creative services team to get branding for the various stores and Paul Mader did shaderwork for the hologram billboards. I also made new trees featured in the city. Anton Migulko was responsible for the projected colored lights. Troy Perry did the asphalt texture for the roads and Scott Homer made the blimp seen above the city as well as retexturing and modifications of various vehicles. Shipping these seasons is a ton of work and def. a group effort. Everyone on the team crushed it and im super proud over how it all turned out. The fight between the monster and giant robot was amazing and a great way to wrap up the season.

My task for the 7th season of chapter 2 of Fortnite was to create a satellite dish that is pointed at the giant mother ship in the sky. As the theme was alien invasion it was really cool to build these different satellite bases on the map and theming them to their surroundings whether they are in a swamp, on a cliff or in a jungle. In total there are 7 locations with different layouts to explore. . As usual each POI is a big team effort and I was responsible for the satellite dish modeling and texturing, as well as the creation of the concrete architecture set that was used to build these bases. The set is using trims from and is inspired by Martin Holmberg's work on previous sets as well as inspired by the Helicarrier set from Josh Marlow and Stephanie Ducasse. I worked really closely with Rich Eastwood (Design) and Gervasio Canda (Concept art) to turn these places and satellite dishes into interesting landmarks on the map. Art Leads and Direction: Rick Kohler, Nate Bowden, Andy Carroll
The Shark is one of my personal favorites I had the honor to work on. I was fully responsible for the visuals of the POI (One Point Of Interest of the entire map) for Chapter 2. I was part of the design process and had overall a ton of fun. I added a couple of new assets to an existing set and retextured the original to fit the theme. The rock formations and the shark head I modeled and textured. Some of the interior props I did too. The place changed for the season updates to a prison and after that got destroyed. My baby daughter was born during the production of the Shark. There is a wall painting inside the cells that hints to her birthday. People tried to guess all sort of things there. Was quite funny. :) Great fun overall to see this area going through a lot of phases and still being part of the map. As always and goes without saying game development is a team achievement. Big shout out to the team! Art Direction: Pete Ellis, Patrick Murphy Env. Art Lead: Rick Kohler LD: Brendan McGoona Much love, stay safe and healthy, Berker
