Food, drink, and dessert recommendations for Topsail Island, NC and surrounding locations: RESTAURANTS Shaka Tacos - Topsail EVERYONE recommended this place to us -- you can dine-in or carry-out and enjoy tacos, bowls, nachos, and more. This one is great if you want a quick bite for lunch during a beach day. On the island, near lots of beach access and parking. Type: Quick Bites, Takeout, Sit Down Beach Shop & Grill - Topsail Upscale restaurant on Topsail Island with beach shop attached. On southern part of Topsail Island. Type: Upscale, Sit Down, Patio, Takeout, Drinks Daddy Mac's Beach Grille - Topsail Daddy Mac's is located right on the beach, near the pier in Surf City. If you are looking for a great place to sit outside to watch the sunset - their back patio is a great option! They have a great variety of food and drinks and is perfect if looking for a spot to take the whole family. On Topsail Island, near Surf City Bridge. Type: Sit Down, Patio, Takeout, Family Topsail Steamer - Topsail "Seafood steam pots prepared with fresh local seafood, meats, veggies and homemade seasonings to take home, steam, eat & enjoy". On Topsail Island, near Surf City Bridge. Type: Takeout, Family Style Splash by the Sea - Topsail Located at Villa Capriani, Splash by the Sea is worth it just for the views. Park in the lot across the street (near the tennis courts) and walk through the front doors to the hotel. You are seated with large windows that open to a patio overlooking the Atlantic. Splash offers a variety of seafood dishes as well as classics like burgers and pizza. It is a great restaurant to take the whole family and is able to accommodate all sizes of parties. They do not take reservations. On northern part of Topsail Island. Type: Sit Down, Patio, Takeout, Family Surf City Line - Topsail Taco restaurant - super fresh and tasty flavors. Plus, they have amazing drinks! They have several decks/patios and live music throughout the week, so it is a great option if looking to enjoy time/eat outside. Also close to some of the bars on the island (Tortugas and Trailer Bar). Type: Sit Down, Patio, Takeout, Family, Drinks, Live Music Coastal Wing and Spirits Co. - Surf City This has quickly become one of our favorite spots. They have a variety of menu items and we are quite obsessed with the Korean Thai Chili sauce. They also have a great selection of beers and drinks - but the Salty Turtle is also right across the street if you want to grab drinks before/after! If you are looking to grab takeout, I would highly recommend ordering before 6PM - they have previously cutoff online orders around then. Type: Sit Down, Takeout, Drinks The Oyster Barn - Surf City A newer spot in Surf City, The Oyster Barn is a "tide to table" restaurant serving up fresh oysters. Lots of picnic table type seating + they do take reservations and can accommodate larger parties (just make sure you call ahead)! Type: Sit Down, Family, Patio Burrito Shak - Surf City/Hampstead Burrito Shak is a coastal fast casual restaurant where you can customize your own burritos, tacos, bowls, etc. - similar to Chipotle (plus Burrito Shak has more options). Great option if you are looking for a quick option after a day at the beach. The location in Surf City/Hampstead is right by Walmart and Publix, so great option if looking for a bite after stopping into town for groceries. Type: Takeout, Quick Bites, Sit Down Agave Azul - Sneads Ferry We are huge Agave Azul fans. Its a modern Mexican restaurant and they have amazing food and drinks. The decor and setting is also great and the staff has been fantastic. There is also a really nice patio and outdoor seating area- so highly recommend checking it out in the summer! There are tourist shops next door and a Food Lion across the street, so even if it is busy there is lots to do nearby to occupy your time. Type: Sit Down, Takeout, Family Rick's Restaurant & Sports Bar - Sneads Ferry Rick's is a great go-to spot with tons of drink and food options - and is a good option if you're trying to catch a game on TV. They also frequently host live music guests (you can check their upcoming events on their Facebook page: linked here) Type: Sit Down, Family, Live Music Riverview Cafe - Sneads Ferry If you are looking for local seafood, this is the place to go. Its a smaller, diner-like restaurant with views of the river (hence the name). Fresh hush puppies are brought to your table right away and the atmosphere really makes you feel right at home. Type: Sit Down, Family Baked Pizza - Sneads Ferry Baked tends to be our go-to for pizza. You can eat in (they have tables and a bar section) or get pickup/delivery. The pizzas are great and but they also have really good sandwiches and appetizers. Type: Takeout, Delivery, Sit Down, Drinks Salty Sistas - Sneads Ferry Salty Sistas is a classic American style restaurant, often hosting live music or karaoke. They also have fantastic desserts - so if you stop in I would highly suggest checking out the pies and cakes towards the back of the restaurant! Type: Sit Down, Family, Live Music/Trivia COFFEE, BAGELS, & BREAKFAST Sea Blue Coffee & Ice Cream - Topsail Lovely coffee and smoothie right by the beach! They also carry a range of souvenirs and merchandise. Sunrise Bagel Company - Surf City/ Topsail Amazing bagels, sandwiches, and cream cheese - the asiago provolone is *chef's kiss* The place is primarily takeout only - there's only a few benches outside, but otherwise there isn't much seating available Daybreak Donuts - Surf City/Topsail Right next to Sunrise bagel, Daybreak Donuts makes made-to-order donuts using a variety of glazes and toppings - they also sell coffee! Coffee Haven - Sneads Ferry, Jacksonville This has quickly become our go-to place! Coffee Haven has an extensive menu featuring different coffee, espresso, tea, and red bull drinks. "Hole-in-the-wall" type of place - Coffee Haven is wedged between a strip mall and trailer park in Sneads Ferry (it's somewhat easy to miss so keep an eye out). Port City Java - Jacksonville, Hampstead, Wilmington Port City Java is a further drive for me living in Sneads Ferry, but I make a point to stop in whenever I'm in Jacksonville. The coffee is fantastic, but they also have some amazing breakfast food. Highly recommend trying Port City Java when driving between cities ICE CREAM & DESSERT Sea Blue Coffee & Ice Cream - Topsail Island Lovely coffee and smoothie right by the beach! They also carry a range of souvenirs and merchandise. DRINKS Salty Turtle - Surf City Brewery in Surf City - sells their large range of beers on tap and in cans. There is indoor and outdoor seating around their patio - and you can even bring your dog! They don't have food, but there are usually food trucks parked outside and there are plenty of other restaurants nearby (Coastal Wings is in the same parking lot). *Pictured photo from patio at Daddy Mac's Beach Grille

Surf City in North Carolina is one little town that is a popular spot for a vacation.
Spring takes hold in Wilmington in a wild, purple and pink flare. The azaleas bloom all at once and with as much urgency as pageantry. Blooming somewhere between white and fuchsia, they ignite with an intensity that can startle even the most jaded local. Since 1948 the North Carolina Azalea Festival has trumpeted nature’s shift…
