Street Tram #28 in Alfama - Lisbon Portugal
Wuppertal Schwebebahn or Wuppertal Floating Tram, a suspension railway in Wuppertal, Germany (by Neil Pulling).
To wrap up the year, I'm going to share some photos from a quick trip a Melbourne a few weeks back. I had to go down for a work function, so Andy met up with me afterwards and we spent the next day exploring Fitzroy and Brunswick. We spent the day perusing shops and eating some very good food. Some of my top picks being Ganim's Store, Galerie Montmartre, Mr Kitly and the most delicious lunch at Hellenic Republic. We love Melbourne and will have make it a habit to get down there more often! galerie monmartre mr kitly
Sunderland balcony tram 28 waits at the Grangetown terminus in 1921. The track beyond was extended in 1920 and now connects with the Sunderland District Tramway so that their trams can run down to the Gas Office at the south end of Fawcett Street. The District trams will cease running to here in 1925 and this terminus will be moved off the road onto the pavement on the left. Enamel plates with the famous "Shop at Binns" adverts are being fixed to the ends of the trams this year from March onwards but number 28 hasn't got them yet. The destination blind shows "Seaside Lane", which will be renamed "Sea Lane" in 1925 then disappear from the trams in 1937 when the route up the coast is renamed "Roker and Seaburn". Number 28 will be gone by then, replaced by a new tram with the same number in 1934. 1921 : monochrome photo, colour by Malcolm Fraser
Today’s photo of the day is one of the simply terrific trams that they have in Melbourne, Australia. This bright yellow tram runs back and forth along the Bourke Street shopping precinct in the center of the city, including through the pedestrian only shopping mall that flanks both sides of the street. They are clean, […]
