The Morpheus hotel in Macau, which is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, is so intricate and complex that the photographs look like renderings rather than completed architecture.

He decided to stay and to dedicate himself to theatre direction, but soon had troubles with censors. Afraid of repression, nobody wanted to hire him. Jobless and penniless, Jodorowsky was saved by writer Luis Spota, who invited him to contribute to El Heraldo de México’s cultural supplement. Until 1973, Jodorowsky published there a total of 284 full-page comic strip fables: the Fábulas Pánicas. They started with a ‘Kafkian existential’ leaning, but soon embodied Jodorowsky’s search for 'Zen illumination'. It is truly amazing that in the middle of the worst period of repression by the PRI (Revolutionary Institutional Party) – which governed Mexico for more than seventy years and was responsible for the 1968 Tlatelolco Massacre – Jodorowsky found such a highly visible forum for his holistic-political discourse. This would be unthinkable in many places today… Alejandro Jodorowsky, Born Chile, 1929, Lives in Paris Selected by Pablo Leon de la Barra for Catalogue a web magazine edited by Colline Milard and Florence Ostende.
