“Terni” series A series of romantic views by Chetham & Robinson of Longton. The scenes appear within an open floral border typical of the 1830s. The printed mark is in the form of a small vignette scene with “TERNI” on a panel across the middle and the individual title in script curving beneath followed by the maker’s initials. Some examples bear an impressed fouled anchor mark. The series appears on wavy-edged dinner wares, predominantly printed in blue although green and purple are also known.

EARLY CHILDS TRANSFERWARE MUG NAMED MUG ~ FOR EDWARDStaffordshire England ~ c. 1830This is whimsical little child's transferware mug, circa 1830. This diminutive piece stands 2 3/8 " tall x 2 1/2 " wide with an applied acanthus type loop handle. The mug is light weight and beautifully potted with a pearlware glaze. The mug is transfer printed in black with a rare to find slip mocha glaze. Transfer printed in black with "For Edward" along the top rim and a young lass with a bird in hand and birds in his lap, charming and delightful. The condition of this exceptional mug is very good with restoration to the base per photos. The transfers were applied with a good deal of attention to detail. It is amazing that this little piece was made for a child so long ago!Children's early mugs of this quality is quite scarce and highly sought after. The images are delightful, a throwback to a much simpler time. The cup will make a great addition to your collection of ceramics. We have other mugs of this quality, please inquire.
