The Magnolia 3D Embossing folder is very large (6" X 6"), and I wanted to show how I'd use it most easily. I used the new Fluid 100 Watercolor paper and embossed. Then, I colored the magnolias using aquapainters and ink pads. (Smooshing ink into the ink pad or putting a drop of reinker in the lid.) Then, I cut out the shapes with paper snips. I think they are beautiful on the Mangolia Lane Cards, and they fit well into that large card base. I wanted to try some softer looks though, so I made this card using the Band Together dies. I cut off the "band" and used the die cut as a laced detail under the sentiment on this card. The layered leaves 3D embossing folder looks soft and pretty under it. For this card, I highlighted the pretty Petal Pink magnolia by adding the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon and some soft Basic Adhesive backed sequins in Soft Sea Foam. We are so delighted to have released more 3D embossing folder designs throughout 2022! Adding texture and dimension has always given cards extra detail. However, using 3-dimensional embossing folders gives paper an even more defined, textured finish to create stunning crafts. Keep reading to see all the ways you can craft with these folders! This gorgeous Flower Frenzy embossing folder is filled with different blooms and leaves to add to cards. This subtle geometric pattern is bold enough to add texture to the background of cards without taking attention away from the centerpieces and sentiments. Pairing the leafy pattern with the small bird is a fitting theme and is not only stylish, but minimal with an eye-catching centerpiece. The Tufted embossing folder’s design gives a softness to cards. Although simple, the Corrugated 3D embossing folder can be used vertically, horizontally, and tilted at any angle. This makes the already adaptable design work to create patterns in any direction. It is perhaps one of the most suitable designs for any occasion! This spotty and dotty 3D embossing folder is so much fun to use in crafts! Puff Dotty adds a bubble-like texture to any craft to make it dimensionally unique. Just like this example, adding more circular and round patterns to this design pairs very well! Give someone a Flurry of Snowflakes when using this 3D embossing folder. The delicate snowflakes provide just enough texture but don’t take away from other die-cuts and embellishments added to the card. The layered circular pattern of this 3D embossing folder creates a kaleidoscope of other shapes! Look closely and see diamonds and shapes that look almost floral. Welcome back friends! I’m so excited to be back today to share a couple of projects made with the new 3D Embossing Folder Collection from Spellbinders. It's no secret that I love to add texture to the backgrounds of my cards with embossing folders, and the gorgeous and versatile 3D designs in this collection are perfect for so many occasions! TEN GORGEOUS DESIGNS My favorite embossing folders, the ones I use over and over again, tend to be basic or more subtle patterns that add a lot of interest but don't steal the show from my focal point. All of the folders in this initial release fit these criteria! I embossed an A2-sized swatch of shimmer cardstock with each of the new folders to give you a quick look at the gorgeous designs. Here are some easy links to the product pages for each: Origami Folds Corrugated Leafy Tufted Knock On Wood Beautiful Blooms Puff Dotty Circle Illusion Beveled Diamonds Tile Mosaic UNIVERSAL PLATE SYSTEM Spellbinders has also released a new Universal Plate System that makes embossing with 3D embossing folders from nearly ALL manufacturers in the Platinum machines super easy. (I know that I always struggled to find a sandwich that worked with my Sizzix 3D embossing folders because they are thicker than all of the others...) Plus there's a little extra length on these guys, so you'll be able to cut and emboss some of the larger slimline-sized dies that have come out lately more easily as well. FLORAL HELLO CARD The Circle Illusion 3D Embossing Folder creates such a pretty and pillowy background, I had to try it first. I started by trimming a piece of shimmery aqua cardstock to 4.25 x 5.5 and running it through my Platinum Machine using the folder with just the A and D plates from the Universal Plate System. Then I adhered this to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with strong tape runner adhesive. The flowers and leaves were cut from Pink Sand, Wild Berry, and Fern Cardstock using the Layered Cherry Blossom Die Set. After adding a little shading with Picked Raspberry and Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink and a sponge dauber, I assembled the blooms with liquid glue. Yellow Crystal Drops were added to the flower centers to embellish. I applied Gold Hot Foil to white cardstock using both the Mini Sincere Sentiments and Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments Plate Sets with my Glimmer Hot Foil System and cut them out with the coordinating dies. A little circle wreath was cut from the white cardstock using the Fluted Classics Circles Die Set and all of the elements were arranged and adhered to the card front with foam adhesive. SWAN SYMPATHY CARD I thought the Origami Folds 3D Embossing Folder created such a pretty background that I chose this one next. I trimmed a piece of lavender shimmer cardstock to 4 x 5.25 before embossing it with the design and adhered it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with foam adhesive. Next, I applied Prism Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Graceful Swan Glimmer Plate Set and Cobalt Hot Foil to white cardstock using the Mini Sincere Sentiments Glimmer Plate Set before cutting them out with their respective dies. (I also added a little color to the swan's beak with a Copic marker.) After adding my swan and sentiment to the lower right corner of the card front, I tucked some pretty flowers and leaves behind them that I cut from Glacier, Raindrop, Rainforest, and Mirror Silver Cardstock using the Mini Blooms & Sprigs Die Set. A few Crystal Mix Gems were added to embellish this soft and pretty scene. Our Christmas stamp-a-stack cards for this month are a mix of old and new as well as dark, dramatic tones and light, elegant hues. Here's our first: I cut a window from crumb cake, embossed it with Subtle for some texture, then stamped and white embossed the sentiment. Behind that is some of the lovely Twinkle, Twinkle DSP and a Bethlehem die. Add the shepherd and a glittery star, and voila! Isn't that paper amazing? I love the soft swirls that look so realistic. Materials used: stamps - Night in Bethlehem, Star of Light dies - Bethlehem edgelits, rectangle framelit card - night of navy, crumb cake, whisper white, white glitter, Twinkle, Twinkle DSP other - Subtle embossing folder, Big Shot, Dimensionals, sponge dauber, glue And our second card uses classic colours of cherry cobbler, vanilla and gold. Here I've use the Tufted embossing folder, then lightly distressed the edges and outlined them with gold embossing powder. Gold foil leaves and gold pearls give the poinsettia some contrast and the stitched framelit goes perfectly with the quilted look. Materials used: stamps - Stylish Christmas dies - Stitched Seasons framelits card - very vanilla, gold foil other - embossing buddy, Tufted embossing folder, Big Shot, Dimensionals, gold pearls, glue, scissors It's hard to believe there's only one more stamp-a-stack class left.
