Happy Friday to all! Boy, it's been a week, hasn't it? It seemed to have flown by, only to leave me feeling a little behind. I can't believe Monday is October 1st!!! Here's a layout I made yesterday using some more bits and pieces of September's SC kit, Central High... I had these adorable photos of my daughter from the day she wanted her hair to look like her puppy's...pig tails with pink ribbons :) She's so funny because she hasn't let me fix her hair since! I was really inspired by the colors of the photo and the floral washi tape that I used above the journaling card. I also used several Silhouette cuts on this one which include the word "Snapshots", the leaves, and the triangle pieces under "All You Need Is Love". I added a few wood veneers and called it done! My favorite thing about this layout is the title...I love those Amy Tangerine Thickers! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! TFL!!!

It's not quite their two week anniversary yet and I think they might still be on their honeymoon but I can't wait any longer to share Kristin and Dan's awesome wedding! The wedding ceremony took place at St Ignatius of Loyola at Boston College and the wedding reception was at the New England Aquarium in Boston. But I'm getting ahead of myself, the day started with getting ready and detail pictures at the Marriott Custom House (better known as the clocktower) I started by photographing jewelry details followed by Kristin's awesome hot pink flat sandals. We had a lot of ground to cover (more on that later) so the flats were an excellent decision! I took a copy of Kristin & Dan's wedding invitation and blew it up to 2x60ft for this picture. Kidding. There was a cute little model of the Custom House in the lobby so I thought I'd use it to hold up the invitation. I'd photographed at the Custom House previously so I knew there was an amazing view from the top and you can even see the New England Aquarium (where the wedding reception would take place later) so I asked Audrey to head up there to take some aerial photographs. Sadly for Audrey not only was it a gazillion degrees hot but the elevators was broken but she is a trooper and treked up to get this. Thank you Audrey! It was a good job there was a to-do notepad in the room. Imagine if Kristin had forgotten... ;) The awesomely talented Lindsay joined us for the day for groom's coverage: Back with the girls it was time for Kristin's mom and sister to help her into her wedding dress: Love this one! Is it me or does Kristin look like a young Kate Walsh here? Kristin and Dan had HOURS of time in between their ceremony and reception so they decided against a first look but they wanted to give each other cards. We carefully brought them together to the mezzanine of the custom house but made sure they didn't accidentally see each other: I then had some time to take some pictures of Kristin: While Lindsay headed to church with Dan: Kristin arrived shortly afterwards: Kristin and Dan met at Boston College so it seemed only right that they would be married at St Ignatius of Loyola on the BC grounds, it's a beautiful church for a wedding ceremony: One of the groomsmen got this message in his beer cap - luckily Kristin had no plans to leave Dan at the altar! Thanks to Lindsay for these: I don't want to hijack Kristin & Dan's blog post with the pros and cons of having an unplugged wedding ceremony so I'll just say- I don't mind one way or the other if you have an unplugged ceremony or your well-meaning guests are hanging out of the aisle and up on the altar with their iPads and iPhones - I'll simply document what happens. However if you'd like to see the faces of your friends and family (vs. a sea of phones as you walk down the aisle) then an unplugged wedding ceremony might be something you want to consider. More information at "Should we have an unplugged wedding ceremony?" and here is the lovely text that Kristin and Dan included in their wedding program: Dan walked down the aisle flanked by his proud parents: And Kristin's Mom made some last minute adjustments to her veil (thanks Audrey for this angle!) Dan had every emotion happening as Kristin walked down the aisle with her parents: Stunning church: At each wedding I say helpful stuff like "Come on Audrey - try to take an epic award winning picture today!" and by jove, I think she did it. I LOVE this and I'm kind of jealous I didn't take it: Yay! Married! We went for a little walk on the Boston College grounds - liking the hint of Kristin's pink sandals here: Kristin and Dan has such a fun and cool wedding party. I don't remember the last time I'd heard as much NSync and Backstreet Boys music but it made for a most excellent soundtrack as we spent over 3 hours taking pictures all over Boston: On a scale of 1-10 how happy do you think Kristin & Dan are to be married right now? I'd guess an 11 When Kristin & Dan told me that there would be almost 5 hours between their wedding ceremony and reception I explained that I would be more than happy to take pictures for as long as they wanted but that it might be really great to take a break with their wedding party. They arranged to stop at Eastern Standard for champagne and oysters. If you have hours in between your ceremony and reception, don't think it has to be one long photoshoot! Take some time out with your closest friends (of course I'll be there to photograph it!) With happy bellies full of oysters and shrimp and champagne, out next stop on the tour of Boston was the Public Gardens (remember to file for your permits at least 2 weeks before your wedding if we're taking wedding pictures!!!). This is where Dan proposed to Kristin: Sometimes I think about planting willow trees in our yard so I could do portrait sessions at home :) Back on the trolley: We then took another short break to hydrate/set up for the reception (we may have gotten Ben & Jerry's ice cream but who's to say) before I met up with Kristin and Dan for a few more pictures at Christopher Columbus Park. We'd arranged to meet in the lobby of the Aquarium and this was how I found Dan: There was a guy playing the most amazing music on his guitar so we just hung out for a little while. Kristin and Dan talked about how they felt during the wedding ceremony and it was really cute to hear them. Back at the New England Aquarium it was time for cocktail hour overlooking the ocean: Kristin & Dan decided to skip the usual guest book in place of a thumbprint tree: More yummy shellfish and seafood: The sun was just starting to set as guests made their way to the tent: And speaking of the tent, here it is beautifully lit by Boston Uplights (and it only got more stunning as the night went on). I've photographed in many tents and with the exception of Sperry Tents I can't emphasize how important it is to get professional lighting. It makes a huge difference to the feel of your event and it makes a HUGE difference in your wedding pictures. Beautiful pink and blue and amber walls with gently bobbing lanterns and stunning pinlights on the centerpieces vs. a white plastic tent. Yup - call Paul and the team at Boston Uplights or I'm not coming to your wedding. Kidding. Not really. Loving the tiny fish on Kristin & Dan's champagne glasses: How cute are these personalized cake toppers? See?! Stunning pinlights add drama and elegance to your wedding reception: The new Mr & Mrs. Roemer were introduced and went into their first dance. Kristin's Mom got a little emotional: Toasts were next and we heard funny stories about how Kristin's sister Susan had always made her be the groom when they were playing "dress-up weddings" and touching stories about Dan's proposal and how Kristin had thoughtfully sent best man Anthony notes when he was out in Australia: Happy and proud and emotional parent dances: The dancefloor was well and truly opened. It was a pleasure to work with Peter from Good Times Unlimited. I've worked with the DJs from Good Times Unlimited frequently and they're awesome - super professional, they play great music and make sure the dancefloor is packed. No cheesy games or too much talking! Kristin and Dan wanted to take some pictures in front of the giant tank in the aquarium. We waited patiently for just the right visitor in the background. Hello Big Tuna. I took this one as Audrey and I headed back to the car. The timestamp was 11:24pm. My first image was taken at 10:17am and it was 93 degrees on July 6th! So rather an epic day but I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else! Kristin & Dan - thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer. How much fun was that!?! Wishing you hugest congratulations and much luck as you now pack up your life in Boston/move/take new jobs!!! I'll let you into a secret. Penguins are my favorite creature in the world (even more than miniature dachshunds, just don't tell Tiger Woods and Coco Chanel), I actually have an adopted penguin at the Aquarium. I think maybe this one might be mine. He was kind of chatty as we left...
