"Una de las casas más típicas y fotografiadas de Valparaíso es la que está enclavada en el cerro Artillería, justo al borde del barranco, como si se fuera a precipitar al vacío. Es una de las últimas casas de este tipo construidas en el sector (...). / (...) Fue construida entre 1908 y 1909 para don Wenceslao Campusano y fue encargada a los arquitectos italianos Arnaldo Barrison y Renato Schiavon que acababan de llegar de Italia en busca de trabajo, atraídos por la idea de la reconstrucción de casas después del terremoto de 1906 y conocedores de que la ciudad necesitaba arquitectos especializados."
