Hello everyone! We had a nice sunny Autumn day for our last tour of the season. Why don't you come along with us and see the autumn colors in our garden. We did have a frost a couple of times but not a killing frost. This will be the last time this year for a big bus to roll in with some lovely visitors from Japan. There was 27 visitors today for a house and garden tour. I was happy to have such a nice sunny day for them to enjoy their visit. The little "Gardener's Cottage' always meets with approval! This beautiful gentle lady brought me a gift of powered green tea and the cup, wisk, etc. to make it. She also, gave me a demonstration on how to make it. The garden is mostly fall foliage colors now. We make a little trek down to the woods and the brook. It is very peaceful in here. The ferns add interesting color in the autumn. The hillside garden. Hosta,Japanese Barberry and limelight hydrangea. Japanese Barberry up close and personnal. I love the bright red seeds.. The fall blooming monkshood gives some late season color. The 'Burning Bush' or Euonymus alata "Compactus" is putting on a good show. The virginia creeper on the chimney and side of the house is turning red here. Well, this pretty much ends our tour but you may wander around if you please. This is where I like to spend my evenings with a cup of hot apple cider. Thank you to all who have joined me in a late season tour around our garden. I am joining French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday today Take care, Carolyn
Do you want to know my definition of the word ‘CRAZY’? That would be someone who agrees to be part of a home tour a week after she has moved into a house. Yup, and I just realized at the Wednesday that oh yeah, I need to take photos of my kitchen, edit them […]
Toady I'm reminiscing about our warm beach vacation in Montauk. The house we stayed in was really cute and full of great style. Unfortunately, I did not capture all of it with my camera but did manage to snap a few pics, especially of the entryway, which was full of beachy charm. The upstairs had this balcony and view of the lake. A great place to have coffee in the morning...and a cocktail in the evening. A few more random pictures from around the house... Again, there was a lot more to show but I was on major vacation mode and lazily never got around to snapping more pics! Thanks for visiting :) - Caitlin
When Suzie and Bob Mecay bought their home in the charming fishing town of Summerland, California, it was a "shabby old beach shack," says Suzie. Yet despite its dark interior and low ceilings, Bob and Suzie claim it was still love at first sight. The reason? Its location, right on a beautiful piece of land overlooking Summerland Beach. Due to the small size of the home, it was a challenge for the Mecays to remodel it to suit their family of five. WIth this dilemma in mind, they designed the house as if it were a yacht, using every inch efficiently. The couple brought beach chic to a whole new level by combining this nautical theme with their love of the shore and its natural beauty. Houzz at a Glance Who lives here: Suzie and Bob Mecay; children Brook and Grady; dog Burton Location: Summerland, California Size: 2,000 square feet; 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an office, a loft That's interesting: The Mecays repaint their home a few times a year to keep the white at its brightest.
Kram Mia -♥

I have been MOST excited about getting our new barn lights put up on the house. And yesterday I came home to a nice surprise. All in all - we have 12 of these around the house - and I LOVE THEM - and it's a good thing I tell ya ;-) I'm gonna have to love them for a loooooong time. The porch has three pendant lights - and one gooseneck light by the front door - (please pardon our unpainted porch posts.) This one is to the left of the front door - which I painted WHITE by the way. Can you believe it - after all that color searching - I just went with a classic white for my farmhouse door. Most of the lights are gooseneck - but the front porch did get these special pendants - a lil' industrial and a LOT "farmhousey" - y'all like my new word - but you follow me, don't ya? Hope you like them as much as I do. Of course they come from that wonderful company - Barn Light Electric Have a happy day!

an old house brought back to life
I'm sad to say that I procrastinated about doing this forever. I try to avoid getting my sewing machine out. Because of that I have a...
Our dear friend Pat Rushon has developed a new interior paint line . . . We collaborated so that her initial color collection coordinates specifically with our fabrics! Pat has the "color-eye" of an artist and the skill that can only come from years of work within the industry . . . She understands how warm, clear colors or unusual finishes can completely transform a space . . . Recently one of us had some interior walls redone with Refined Finishes' Light Honey from the Bainbridge Blues collection. The painter loved working with it . . . great coverage . . . and no fumes because the Refined Finishes paints are no-VOC. We have used them in a number of our showrooms and in photo shoots . . . We feel so lucky to be part of this wonderful project from the very beginning and wish her the best of luck! Please contact Pat Rushon directly at Refined Finishes for more information or to order swatches or paint. We have worked with Pat on some additional color palettes that our textiles will have in future collections . . . just to give you a glimpse into the future. So . . . as Pat would say, "Choose a color and have some fun!"
