Hello everyone and welcome to Nonna's Craft Corner! I hope your week is going well for you. I've spent the first part of my week cleaning house! So many of those "routine" cleaning jobs have been put aside while I was working on our VBS set and now that it's finished...it's time to clean this house! *If you are looking for the Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post, please click HERE* Our "VBS Kick-Off Party" was this past Sunday and I'm very thankful to say that the set was completed and ready to be revealed! The kids loved it and that made all the work worth it! Now, we cover it back up with our room dividers and wait for VBS which begins on June 3rd. As promised, I have pictures for you.... Here is what we began with... tons and tons of cardboard boxes! Next came cutting and putting boxes together to fit the dimensions and shapes we needed. After we got our boxes together, we arranged them to create our Babylon scene... Next we covered the boxes with a drywall mix and started painting... After everything was painted, the fun part started! Time to decorate! The "tiles" were actually fabric panels. It came in long sheets and everything had to be cut out. Then we used a spray adhesive and glued everything onto the boxes.... (click on photo to enlarge) The "hedges" are cardboard boxes, cut to size and covered with millions of green streamers cut to about 5 inches each. Hours and hours and hours and hours! I took one home to work on and my friend took one home to work on. Getting it back to the church was the hard part... These things are 6 feet long, it goes all the way into my front seat! So, I guess it's back to cleaning this house for me! Thanks for letting me share something near and dear to my heart with you today! Until next time,

We picked 4 men from Hebrews 11 to study for VBS. Joseph, Samson, David and Daniel The photo above shows the walls are decorated floor to ceiling. These are the church building decorations that were designed by several people. The main foyer design and backgrounds were designed by Haley Wilson and the people were added by other volunteers. Some groups volunteered to decorate the vestibule (Daniel) and hallways. As I do each year, I have the photos here to give you ideas for decorating. I can only describe what I see and there are not any templates available to download. The first night was Joseph. Joseph's Coat of Many Colors Joseph's Dreams The sitting area has yellow chevron bulletin board paper on the bottom and the purple on top. There is a piece of hieroglyphics fabric in the center with the borders in hieroglyphics on the sides spelling WELCOME repurposed from last year. The columns were from last year also. The purple pillows are regular bed pillows covered in purple and borrowed from a king's throne. Click on the underlined words to see any printables or products that were used. The second night was Samson. This is the hallway where most of Samson was. Here is Samson with the lion and bees. The bee hives were hanging from the ceiling with the cute little bees flying around. The beehives were created from Japanese lanterns. Samson pushing the columns down were at the end of the hall. There were boxes wrapped with gray paper to represent the temple falling down. There was yellow covering the lights for the 'temple', so the whole area looked yellow. There were pots and outdoor torches in the temple area. The third night was David. David the Shepherd David & Goliath The last night was Daniel. The other governors want to trap Daniel. King Darius signs the new law. The columns are here. Daniel continues to pray to God. Daniel in the lion's den. The king checks on Daniel in the morning.

So I made all these funny decorations and people used them with the gate as a backdrop during our photo booth.
What comes to mind when you think of Daniel? I remember learning about Daniel as a child. He was a godly man who refused to compromise his standards.

Courage “For the Spirit God gave us did not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 The first Bible story that came to mind when thinking about courage was the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego found in Daniel chapters 1-3.
