The marriage ceremony was carried out in secret in the early hours of the morning as Henry was not officially divorced from his first wife, Katherine of Aragon, at the time. Furthermore, his new bride was already pregnant with the king's child. The service took place at Whitehall Palace in London in the presence of only three witnesses and a chaplain. The marriage, and Anne's pregnancy, was not made public until Easter Sunday. Image credits: Wiki Public Domain/William Hogarth
