This is a wonderful studio pottery vase from Lillterrsjö Keramik in Sweden. The vase is inspired by the rock carvings found in Ångermanland and more specifically Nämforsen in Sweden. Birgitta Lind is the designer and many visitors to the Hällrist museum have fallen in love with her Viking style motifs. These rock carvings were created during the early Stone Age into the older Bronze Age. People from all over the world visit these rune stones found in Scandinavia and are mystified by their beauty. The largest concentration of them is found in Sweden. It stands 5.5" tall and is 5.5" at its widest. This vase is in excellent condition with no signs of wear. View runic inscriptions concerning Family, Love, Names & other things on this size mug here: https://etsy.me/3qXso9D Both the runic inscriptions and the shape of this mug were inspired by real, Medieval-era (this includes the Viking age) or earlier archaeology found in Scandinavia. Identical runes were carved onto small wooden or bone staves ("runesticks"), large runestones or jewellery from 300 to 1250 CE in Scandinavia in the Old Norse language - so you could own something once written and spoken by a Viking! The mug's shape was inspired by several ceramic cups found in Norway dated to the Viking era, about 1000 years ago, and earlier. These handle-less cups with their rounded bases sit beautifully in the hand - but please note that the body can get too hot to hold with cup-brewed drinks made with boiling water. 🌲 Need inspiration?
