Sweet photo cutting from vintage scrapbk
In an afterword to The Journalist and the Murderer (1990), I wrote about Jeffrey Masson’s lawsuit, taking a very high tone. I put myself above the fray; I looked at things from a glacial distance. My aim wasn’t to persuade anyone of my innocence. It was to show off what a good writer I was. Reading the piece now, I am full of admiration for its irony and detachment—and appalled by the stupidity of the approach.
Germans had a special admiration for ancient architecture – that of Rome and Greece in particular, and Adolf Hitler was no exception. For him and his Nazi regime, though, there was more than admiration for this sort of architecture. They saw it as a means to impose fear and respect…
Native American symbols have long caught the eye of non-Native fashion designers. But when it comes to Seminole patchwork designs, where is the line between inspiration and appropriation?
Admiration (detail) by William Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-1905) oil on canvas, 1897

Eastman Kodak Company, commonly known as Kodak, is an American technology company that concentrates on imaging products, with its historic basis on photography. The company is headquartered in Rochester, New York, United States and incorporated in New Jersey. It was founded by George Eastman in 1888. With the slogan "you press the button, we do the rest," George Eastman put the first simple camera into the hands of a world of consumers in 1888. In so doing, he made a cumbersome and complicated process easy to use and accessible to nearly everyone. During most of the 20th century Kodak held a dominant position in photographic film. Here are some interesting catalog Kodak covers of its photography books that were published in the early 20th century. 1895 1903 1907 1908 1910 1911 1912 1913 1914 1915 1916 1917 1918 1919 1921 1922 1924 1925 1928 1929 1930 1933 1934 1935 1937 1938 1939 1940 1950 1952 1956

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, just reach out on Etsy message so we can make it right! PRO TIP In printing, like so many other services, a lot of factors determine the quality of the reproduction. How thick (or flimsy) the paper is, the resolution of the original photograph, the expertise of the individual processor/printer and the time spent polishing the image to perfection prior to printing. Before you purchase a print from just any vendor, look to see if they use a third party printing service/drop shipper, or do they control the entire process by producing and shipping the print themselves? Do they use a commercial printer, or do they simply print on a commonplace laser printer like you would find at Office Max or in a home? What paper do they use? Note: Digital downloads are typically just pulled from the internet with no work done to improve their appearance. It's easy to imagine how much he loved the tricycle and to see his little legs pushing the peddles as fast as he could :-)

A few months ago, I purchased a lot of late 1800's magazines, because they all had beautiful illustrations on the covers and were filled with wonderful images like this vintage advertisement for Buttermilk Toilet Soap. This would be a perfect graphic to put on a glass jar to hold bath salts, cotton balls etc. (image transfer on glass tutorial here). It would also be pretty as an iron on image on a towel. Here's the full advertisement the image came from.

Not only would these sexist vintage ads not sell well today, they'd cause a huge social media backlash. See 50 of the most obnoxious examples here.
