Offering a new Fine Art quality archival pigment reprint of Elmer Chickering's portrait of actress Maude Fealy, early 1900s. This is a high quality print, unframed, approximately 7x10" on 8.5x11" archival fine art paper, suitable for matting, framing and display. Elmer Chickering (1857–1915) was a photographer specializing in portraits in Boston, Massachusetts, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He kept a studio on West Street, and photographed politicians, actors, athletes and other public figures. Maude Fealy (1886 - 1971) was an American actress. In the first decade of the 20th century, Memphis-born Fealy became the favorite actress of the post-card and cabinet card collectors. Blessed with a gorgeous face and a tumult of dark hair, she generated a photographic legacy disproportionate to her modest skills as an actress. From the Fine Art Los Angeles Collection, a unique group of fine art photos from the pioneers of photography. Your print will not have a watermark and will be shipped safely in a rigid photo mailer for its protection. FREE SHIPPING in the U.S. Enjoy!
Love is love and that's how it's been since the dawn of man. However, navigating social dynamics in the past was way more difficult than today. Same-sex relationships had been seen as a sin, repressed through law enforcement and judicial mechanisms, and even condemned with death penalties. Luckily, we now live in a time where gay and lesbian couples can legally marry. And to celebrate the increased well-being within these communities, a former priest who goes by the name Nathan Monk has compiled a series of vintage pics, showing how same-sex couples looked back in the day.

You will probably agree with the idea that photos from previous centuries have some charm about them. Yes, in the past, photos were almost like treasures and people really prepared for them: they chose their clothes, did their hair, thought about the perfect positions, and as a result, created a small masterpiece. But it is not just that: the people in these portraits have a special look.

Although fashion did not embrace the look of trousers on the female form until the late 20th century, history saw working women wearing them a hundred years prior. From Victorian coal miners who rolled up their skirts around their waist to reveal soot-covered pants underneath to today’s terrible backlash of factory-torn denim, spandex jeggings, and bedazzled bums, women’s pants have undergone quite a transformation. Let’s take a look at the early fashion of women’s pants from the festooned Victorian era right on through to the ultra glamorous 1930s. The 1920s marked the beginning of an unprecedented era of freedom for women. Not only did they gain the right to vote in 1920, but women also began to play a more active role in sports, social life and even the workplace. In accordance with their changing roles in society, women adopted new fashions that permitted them more freedom of movement than the tight-laced Victorian and Edwardian garments they had previously worn.
