WD 2-8-0 90293 is amongst the large number of freight locos on Doncaster shed (36A) on 02/08/63.
Passing signal box and other old buildings early 60s. These buildings are all that remains of this scene apart from the 2 through lines. Even the field is full of houses. Unusually the freight is bypassing the sidings altogether. The lamps indicate an express freight with a number of fitted wagons next to the locomotive. The station is unusual in that the Darlington platform was an island accessible from the footbridge at the Bishop Auckland end. Both platforms and the footbridge have been replaced. Freight for the laden yards was routed along the line to the right of the island platform.
