What fun still lives! I love how traditional they feel but their subject matter adds a bit of comedy. They are by James Neil Hollingsworth. James is a master at painting objects that are clear and reflective. I absolutely love the first two paintings. I would hang them together over my couch. Check out more work on James' website and blog. I picked these paintings to put together because they looked like a yummy lunch. Mmmmm, Fritos.
hey folks. enjoy a little drawing contest between the very talented wischnik and me. i don't know how we even came up with that idea and we have not yet decided what there will be to win in the end, but over the next few months we want you to be our jury. this is the first round of five and this time the task was to draw an elderly, ugly lady. if you like to, give your vote by commenting with a [+] on your favourite drawing. (you can still favour it in the usual way, it won't be counted.) the first voting deadline is next sunday, 24:00, mez. thanks a lot for voting!

I’m fascinated with the idea of hybrid species, and I love imagining an animal that exists completely unbeknownst to us, fluttering around in the dark and unseen by human eyes, but all around us. Perhaps they are gathering up tiny scraps we’ve left behind or just resting for a moment on an old tin, long forgotten in the woods. This is the idea that led me to paint the first “mouserfly”.
