Foxes are inquisitive, cunning canines by nature. They are also fairly territorial. So, when it comes to settling disputes of over turf, battles sometimes emerge. These battle can take on several forms. When equally paired adults confront each other they may simply approach each other sideways, pushing and kicking each other's flanks. At other times foxes will approach and circle each other. emitting a variety of yelps, and guttural grunts. Confrontations may end there. In more serious confrontations the animals will rear up on hind legs, mouths agape, flashing their pearly whites, and pushing on each other with their front legs. It's more fanfare than fury. Only rarely does this degenerate into real combat, but it sometimes does, and it can lead to injury. Life in the wild is full of competition. We shouldn't be surprised. Humans are similar in so many different ways. Although the manifestations of our competitive nature may seem more complex, so is the wild nature in which we live.
