Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Translation - Happy Saint David's Day! What's occurring? Well, it's the 1st March, the day we celebrate the patron saint of Wales, St David. Well, only Welsh people celebrate this day. 12 Things That Only Welsh People Say! Anyway, I'm not going to go into great detail of St David's profile and I'll tell you for why. I've done enough of that working in schools in the past at Eisteddfod's. Remember the Welsh girl costumes? Those ridiculous black hates with the white lace frill and the dress. Ah, those were the days. I remember wearing mine thinking I was the bees knees. Yeah, like I was going to model at London Fashion Week. Also trying to sing the Welsh national anthem was a sound to behold. I used to just mouth 'pineapple' at the words I couldn't pronounce. On social media, the majority of my followers live in the UK. Each section of the UK has a different dialect, especially in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. I know I say some Welsh phrases, words, motto's to English people and they look at me like I've grown two extra heads. So, to clear up any confusion I may have caused in the past, here are some words/phrases that only Welsh people say! - 1) TAMPING ____________________________ What it means - Angry Use it in a sentence - "When Doris saw she had a parking ticket, she was tamping!" 2) TIDY ____________________________ What it means - When something, someone or a situation is good Use it in a sentence - "That pizza was bang tidy" 3) CWTCH ____________________________ What it means - a hug/cuddle Use it in a sentence - "Give me a cwtch" 12 Things That Only Welsh People Say! 4) YCH A FI! ____________________________ What it means - something that is disgusting Use it in a sentence - "That nappy smells ych a fi!" 5) HANGING ____________________________ What it means - Feeling/looking terrible Use it in a sentence - "I woke up this morning and I was hanging" 6) BUTT ____________________________ What it means - a mate, friend etc Use it in a sentence - "You alright butt?" 7) BUZZING ____________________________ What it means - Something unpleasant, off putting. Use it in a sentence - "That nappy is buzzing" 8) CHOPSY ____________________________ What it means - when you argumentative or cheeky Use it in a sentence - "Neil is a right chopsy bugger!" 9) MUN ____________________________ What it means - umm, a kind of nickname, like when you call someone babe or hun?!
